Catherine Jessee is an experienced communications professional currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Southern Studies at the University of Mississippi. Catherine is also completing a Nathalie Dupree Graduate Fellowship through the Southern Foodways Alliance. Before starting her master’s program, Catherine worked in editorial positions for The Knot, Domino Media Group, a D.C. law practice, and a California ceramics designer. Catherine produces a newsletter, Weekday Warriors, that provides readers with a new recipe and playlist each week. 

Experience

Catherine is attending the University of Mississippi for her Master of Arts in Southern Studies. She is focusing on Appalachian History—specifically the intersection between food systems and social movement, justice, and activism. She was one of two students in this program chosen to be a Nathalie Dupree Graduate Fellow with Southern Foodways Alliance. Prior to beginning her graduate program, Catherine worked as an Editorial Coordinator for ceramics designer Heath Ceramics and the Arnold & Porter law practice. Catherine also served as a Digital Editorial Intern for The Knot and Domino Media Group.

Education

Catherine graduated from the University of Virginia, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in American Studies and English. Catherine also has a Master of Arts in Southern Studies from the University of Mississippi.
