Shelley is a Senior Fashion & Beauty Editor at The Knot Worldwide, where she writes, edits and styles content for both TheKnot.com as well as The Knot magazine. With a decade of fashion and beauty experience, she makes it her personal mission to keep up with the latest trends, from nontraditional engagement rings to cutting-edge wedding attire. 

A West Coast girl at heart, Shelley grew up in Long Beach, California, and currently resides in New York City. When not on set or dreaming up dress, jewelry and beauty content, Shelley enjoys running, reading, testing the latest beauty products (#selfcare) and adding her to extensive shoe collection. 

Experience

Fashion and beauty have always been Shelley's passions. As a teen, she was an avid reader of Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and Allure. While attending The University of California, Los Angeles, Shelley was the Arts & Entertainment Editor of The Daily Bruin, an experience which solidified her love of journalism.

After receiving her master’s degree from the Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute at New York University in New York, Shelley joined the freelance digital team at Lucky Magazine, while continuing to freelance for numerous other publications such as FLAUNT magazine, Backstage and Paste.com. After departing Lucky Magazine, Shelley landed a job as Fashion Editorial Assistant at The Knot World Wide and has been specializing in wedding fashion and beauty ever since. 

Education

Shelley is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in Los Angeles, California, where she majored in English. While in college, Shelley interned at Los Angeles Magazine. She also spent a semester at King’s College, Cambridge University in England, where she studied British literature and creative writing.

Shelley also has her Master’s degree from the Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute at New York University in New York. While in graduate school, Shelley interned at O, The Oprah Magazine and Lucky Magazine.

  • Shelley has been featured as a wedding fashion and beauty expert  in several print and online publications, including VogueRefinery 29, The Wallstreet Journal, Who What Wear, JCK Magazine and Barron’s
  • Shelley appeared on Inside Edition to discuss wedding dress shopping on a budget. 
  • Shelley hosted The Knot x CuryCon’s event during New York Fashion Week focusing on body positivity and size inclusivity. The activation later won a Digiday award.

Best advice for to-be-weds?

Don’t get too caught up in the opinions of others. Your wedding should be a reflection of your love story and values. 

What’s your all-time favorite wedding song?

I have so many good memories of dancing to “24K Magic” by Bruno Mars at weddings. It’s a surefire way to get all of your guests up and moving. 

Dream celebrity wedding guest?

She’s way too cool for my hypothetical wedding, but Laura Jane Grace of the band Against Me!, because she’s such a brilliant talent. “Ache With Me” is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. 

Best wedding after party snack?

Anything indulgent and savory. I’ve never met a chicken tender or pig in a blanket I didn’t love.
