Hibernian Hall

s from out of the city of Charleston and who have offered to help... forget it. We had a friend of the family doing the cake and the Hibernian's "rules and regulations" basically made it impossible for her to do so and they let us know at 2 week before the wedding mark (although our wedding planner had cleared it when we first booked the venue 1 year prior). Outside of that, (given it was an unusually hot week in May) the upstairs ballroom temperature was sweltering the night of the my daughter's wedding. The manager blamed the 80+ degree heat on our vendors leaving the front door open although there was supposed to be a building and grounds representative there all day to keep a check on all that. Very hot, very uncomfortable and for the cost I probably would not have a redo at the Hibernian but otherwise, we were still able to have a fantastic night.

ter's wedding reception at this beautiful and historic building. Kerrie, Hibernian Hall manager, and her staff were very accomodating during the planning and the actual reception, itself. The entrance to Hibernian Hall has a glorious three-story rotunda with dual staircases leading to the ballroom which allows for a grand entrance of the bridal party, especially when led by a bagpiper, a Hibernian tradition. We used the library with an adjoining restroom, located downstairs, as private spaces for the wedding party and as a location for the band to change before the reception. Kerrie helped arrange for blue uplighting on the columns outside as a beautiful evening backdrop for the send-off. Cheers to Hibernian Hall for being a fairytale setting for our daughter's wedding reception!

the summer of 2017. Arrangements had been made to take a tour and place a deposit down after communications had finally been made with the facilities business manager, Kerrie. The appointment was made after Kerrie had assured my son and his future mother in law that there was no need to make a special trip to Charleston to make a deposit since (according to Kerrie) the likelihood of someone picking their date was very slim. On the day of the appointment for the tour and making the deposit, my son and his future mother in law were greeted and treated very rudely by Kerrie and made to feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome. After a brief tour, my son's future mother in law was preparing to write the deposit check when they were informed by Kerrie that the date that they had chosen was not available......someone had come in and made a deposit and secured the date that my son and future daughter in law wanted in the summer of 2017. Needless to say, they were completely shocked. Kerrie claimed that she had called and left a message to inform my son's mother in law of the second party being interested in the venue. There was no record of any call being made or a message left. Needless to say what had been anticipated to be a wonderful destination wedding had been destroyed by the actions or lack thereof from the Hibernian's business manager. To make matters worse she failed to even attempt an apology or to try to smooth things out. From the start of the process Kerrie was extremely inept at returning phone calls and emails; was deceitful in her claiming that she made communications when indeed she did not do such; failed to make any additional efforts in trying to communicate when a second party approached her for the venue when she knew that my son and his fiancee wanted this particular date; treated potential clients with disdain during their appointment; failed to show any remorse or concern for my son and his future mother in law based on her inept handling of the situation. In the business world, someone this incompetent would be fired. Hopefully the Hibernian will come to their senses and do just that before she can continue to do harm to their organization. Please do yourself a very big favor if you are considering this venue...........run away fast and don't make the same mistake we did.

her job consists of. The venue itself is beautiful but dealing with her is a nightmare. She could care less about helping you with your event. Stay away!

a bit of a nightmare. We were less than impressed with her professionalism during our initial meeting; she ignored us during our appointment time to chat with some other workers. You have to call when you know she is in her office because she doesn't respond to email or voicemail. The worst part was the lack of communication to inform us that the venue was under construction during the day of our reception. Thank goodness for my rockstar wedding planner, or the night would have been ruined. She was able to drape the area to cover the mess and no one could tell. If a more considerate, professional individual was in charge of reservations, the Hibernian would receive a five star rating every time!

my flowers. Jenna (the catering manager) was always professional and prompt. The only complaint is their exorbitant service charge, but I'm sure you will have that no matter where you hold your wedding. The food was also very good; it did not taste like "mass produced wedding food" at all. Several of my guests commented on how good it was.

than suitable for the food preparation we did there. The bar was well stocked (yay for Harpoon IPA) and the bartender extremely friendly. They were also incredibly accomodating for our Celiac guest and permitted her to carry-in her own gluten-free wine! Fabulous! For the miniscule rental fee and really good sized room, Hibernian Hall is a great venue for a rehearsal dinner. Highly recommended!!

h taking. We loved this location the second we saw it. I wouldn't have done my wedding reception anywhere else. The staff was very nice and helpful plus they stayed out of our hair on the big day. They allowed for people to come and go all day that were helping set up the wedding reception. Just a wonderful experience all around.
