eadline. Given the impact of COVID on the service industry I was happy to give them a break and wait for a reimbursement in September, a conversation I had with the owner, Rae. However, since then it has been a one sided game of phone tag with John and his partner Rae. I have been trying to get in touch with them for almost a year now and haven't seen a refund for services not provided. I don't post about most of my bad experiences with family businesses since it's typically something non-impactful. However, this was my wedding and I get to carry the memory of losing money we could have put toward bills while my wife was out of work due to COVID’s impact on her job.
Needless to say, I do not recommend them to anyone looking for good memories.

We found Le Fox Catering on wedding wire and they had great reviews. We met with John for a tasting and the food was amazing. He was very reasonable priced and open to making substitutions. We thought we had hit the jackpot. We booked him over ...
a year in advance and he was very easy to get a hold of for the first few months. Once he got our deposit we didn’t speak until a few months before the wedding. He became difficult to reach. I had to reach out multiple times to coordinate a vegan alternative and ask questions. He claimed he never got any of my emails, Using the same email address we used when we were first booking. Every time we spoke my concerns were quickly resolved and I felt good going into the wedding. He even let us change the number of guests and use our left over deposit towards the tip for servers.
Once at the wedding it was his associate who was there. Not John. Our cocktail hour food was great. No complaints and the display was beautiful. The vegan meal discussed was not what was served. Instead it was a middle eastern dish, hummus and some grape leaf things. The vegans liked it but I’m still disappointed that the change wasn’t discussed. As for the filet and chicken... the filet was more like a brisket and my piece was almost all fat. I took two bites and gave up. The chicken was bland. The veggies and potatoes were steamed and had absolutely no flavor or seasoning. The rolls were stale and old. I was told when my guests asked for salt and pepper, they were told we “didn’t order that”. So they didn’t bring any salt and pepper shakers. The caterer had to go into the restaurant of our venue and got 1 shaker and was walking it around to the tables. How embarrassing!!! The food was absolutely not what we tasted at the tasting and I was mortified that I served my guests such terrible food. They did leave us all the leftovers as discussed. All in all you get what you pay for. We thought we found a genuine guy who wasn’t trying to up charge some chicken but really we should’ve just paid out the butt for good food. I would not recommend Le Fox catering and wish I would’ve found someone else.

cold, he had a 14 year old serving alcohol at our bar, I ordered a late night nacho bar as a surprise for my new husband. paid for 113 people to have nachos and maybe 25 people had nachos. he ran out of cheese!!! brought one can of cheese for 113 people! my husband didn't even get nachos! we also paid for a hot chocolate bar that 3 people got! my mom asked if it was available all night and John assured her there was plenty. about 30 minutes after that, a guest was told that it was put away/gone. and let me tell you, the hot chocolate bar promised was not what was delivered! it was the most awful set up ever. I could go on and on about all the things wrong but one of the biggest things was his staff(who were all underage) were behind the venue drinking OUR liquor we bought. we found empty bottles behind the barn where they had their truck set up at. completely disappointed and honestly feel that we were victims of Bait and Switch. the food we were served at the tasting 1 1/2 years ago was not the food served at our wedding. I feel that I have a responsibility to report him to the liquor board for the underage bartender. save yourself some heartache, money and stress. he is absolutely not worth any of it

he entire night. My wedding party table didn't get any champagne for the toast yet yesterday we found 8 bottles left over. Not only did we have silver chargers, 1 whole table didn't even have them and we had less people than we paid for. Silverware and glasses were dirty. Chicken was cold, carrots were not cooked. Horseradish came out after meal was started and it had to be asked for. Dishes were not cleared until it was asked 5 times.
The 14 YEAR old who was serving alcohol cut the limes on the venues tablecloth and sliced it all up which we now have to pay for. The kitchen was FILTHY. My maid of honor spent over an hour yesterday morning cleaning up what I thought would be taken care of by your staff considering it was their mess. Also, when asked to place cookies on each table, there were supposed to be 24 extra cookies. We had 2 left. When we arrived at the venue yesterday morning, there were half eaten cookies and a bottle of champagne behind the venue where your staff was. Ghe staff was not professionally dressed, one kid kept his "moist" hoodie on his head the entire night. Chris and I as well as my parents feel the food served including portion size was not what we were shown at the tasting. We put a deposit down 17 months ahead of time to ensure we had a great meal for our guests and that was not what was delivered. We paid over $4000 and were highly disappointed.

ng married, we were informed that the caterer did not bring the champagne for the toast. Although it was on our initial receipt, somehow, the champagne did not make it to our reception. The bartender who was extremely RUDE, scrambled to get it done, however tried to charge us for it and wouldn't relent until my husband produced a receipt, proving that we had paid for it. My first dinner with my husband involved him being stressed out and me being hungry. Next, I (the bride) was promised salmon (again on our initial receipt and paid extra for) as I do not eat meat. This was reiterated at least four times and promised, prior to the wedding. Instead, I was served cold chicken and soggy veggies. Imagine and expect frozen and recooked veggies as this is what your guests will be served. The food was obviously made 2-3 days ahead of time and reheated. We ordered, paid for and expected potatoes. Instead, there were no potatoes delivered, which were the MAIN SIDE DISH!!!!!!! (OOPS). We included potatoes on our menu, since we had paid for them and there were no potatoes served. Again, multiple guest noticed and mentioned it. Please serve your guests breath mints as they will need them to cover the massive amount of garlic in the Italian dinner. Again, gross. The four tiered cake set-up ended up being two tiered so we had to set our cupcakes to the side of it as it was not large enough for what we were promised. My mom (the mother of the bride), had to serve her own wine as the bartended looked at her in utter confusion as she approached the bar. We received feedback from multiple guests that the bartender was rude and unapproachable. (Embarrassing). The bartended took it upon himself to move our heater to make himself comfortable as he sat on his phone, deep in text message utopia. Overall, the experience with LaFox was EXPENSIVE, DISAPPOINTING and a complete fail. Neither me, nor my husband are high maintenance which makes this experience all the more disappointing. Please do not use this company if you place any value on the quality of food and service you expect for your wedding day. We placed A LOT of value on two things. One being on food and the other on music. If mediocracy is your thing, consider LeFox as your caterer, otherwise please keep looking for a quality vendor.
Finally, after returning from our honeymoon, my husband tried contacting John several time, by phone and email, to discuss our concerns. We never heard back, which speaks volumes.

ercooked and had no flavor. They couldn't find the horseradish until the bride and groom were finished eating. Chicken was dry and cold. When the bride's uncle commented to one of them that it was cold, the response was "I saw steam coming off of it" and picked one up with his bare hands and broke it in half to feel it. Carrots were undercooked and potatoes had no flavor at all. We were told that professional staff would be there to fill glasses and pick up plates...what we got were a handful of teenagers in hooded sweatshirts that never took the hoods off...one of which said "MOIST" on the back of it. They were slow or non-existent in picking up dirty dishes...had to ask multiple times for tables to be cleared. Hot chocolate bar was supposed to have crushed peppermint, chocolate chips, caramel and "homemade" whipped cream...NOT. There were none of those things and we only know of 2 people who got hot chocolate before it was removed. Bride purchased a nacho bar for later in the evening for the groom...it ran out of cheese before the groom even got any and most of the guests had already left, but the teenagers were eating it. It was not set up as a bar but just bowls that were obviously heated in the microwave as they left the cheese can on the counter...very disappointing. Champagne toast...most of the wedding party was not even served champagne and one hooded server stood in front of the bride and groom while they were making the toast. There was supposed to be a qualified bartender...not so much. This was traded off between the owner and his teenagers. The water that was served, the teenagers were getting directly out of the tap. They paid for lemonade and tea which were never served. They started by plating up the bride, groom, bride's mother, bride's father and groom's grandmother and then walked away from the groom's mother while she was standing there holding her plate...he just turned and walked away. She had to serve herself.
We also discovered that the staff sat out back and ate the food, including the cookies that were guest favors and leftovers for the groom and we found empty champagne bottles along with it along with a pop can that was fashioned into what looked like a bong and the groom caught one of the workers smoking what smelled like pot in the porta john.
They paid for 120 GOLD charger plates. They came silver and the groom's family table was short one and there was an entire table that did not have them. When questioned, the caterer said "oh we just figured out that the person who picks them is color blind here is $75 and I owe you $40 for the mistake"...they paid more than that for them. When discussing the issues the only response given was "well I overbooked my self and generally only do 2 weddings a weekend but this weekend I had 3"...sorry not our problem.

ooked the number one seller package option and the Bacon Wrapped Filet served to us at the tasting was restaurant quality steak and a very thick cut of filet mignon. It seemed too good to be true (which you know what they say) so I asked before we booked (twice) that the food we were presented at the tasting would be exactly the food our guests would receive at the wedding. I was told yes by Ray not once but twice, and to be clear I specifically asked about the size and quality of the filet, making sure it would be the same. Our final deposit was due 30 days prior as per the contract. The owner John called me 6 weeks before to get me to pay, calling me several hours a day at off times, calling multiple times in a row, almost seeming desperate for the money. This raised a red flag for me wondering do they rob peter to pay paul? (i.e. am I being asked to pay early so they can cover someones wedding this weekend? If so, I needed to rely on another bride to pay when it came to mine) I reminded John the contract was 30 days and he told me it was important I pay it now (there is a very cheesy used car salesman vibe to John) After going back online to read reviews just to make sure no other bride got scammed as I had not read the reviews in a while, I didn't see anything negative so I agreed to pay now even though it was 2 weeks before it was due. Some things that were positive included John letting me drop the number of my guests after my RSVP's came in (I was afraid I would never see the refund as it never appeared after I was promised for a month) so I negotiated a couple additional items with Ray at the last minute in lieu of a refund (as I suspected I wouldn't receive one from past reviews). They did accommodate the extra items which was helpful. The biggest disappointment came from the day of the event. The filet served to myself and my guests were very thin slices and not even close to what we tasted and what was promised, In addition it shreadded apart and did not have the texture of steak, brisket like almost. The chicken was VERY dry, even the plates that were served to my husband and myself which should have been the freshest, I knew if that is what we got, everyone's chicken was dry. The potatoes and vegetables were good, the rolls were not catering quality, they were kings hawiann. The worst and final thing was I had a guest who was arriving late, I approached Ray as he was about to break down the buffet and asked him to save a plate for this guest (a guest I had paid for) and he seemed bothered and frustrated by me even asking. He said he would put one aside. When the guest arrived my planner went into the kitchen to get his food and not only was there no plate saved, not in the warmer or the fridge or anywhere to be found, LeFox was packed up and gone. Overall, the food was disappointing, the quality you will see at the tasting is not what you will get. You really do get what you pay for so if you are looking to save money this company will do that for you but if you want high quality food and a high quality staff, go elsewhere. I personally would not recommend them or book them for any future events.

I’ve waited a very long time to write this, partly because life happens, and partly because I don’t like it when I don’t have many nice things to say.
In the beginning, I was very excited to work with them due to the great reviews and how quick...
ly John got back to me. Unfortunately once I paid the remaining balance, that seemed to change. My venue needed some documents in order for Le Fox to be able to serve food at my wedding, and they had gotten no where despite needing it within a matter of days. This was after I had sent emails requesting these documents about a month before hand. I had a day of coordinator that could not reach him. Then I was not able to reach him.. and then my now husband was unable to reach him. It wasn’t until my husband left a message stating that we wanted our money back that he returned my call.
The day of, our cocktail hour started around 4:30 and the reception itself was to end at 9 PM. To be fair, everyone really liked the food, which was great. You know what isn’t great? The guy that was handling the event (not John) began cleaning up at 7 PM. He was practically removing glasses from guests hands. He also directed any questions to me.. despite the fact that I had a day of coordinator and I was busy trying to eat and visit with everyone (around 90 people). They almost left before my cake cutting, and the PHOTOGRAPHER was the one that made sure we had plates for our cake!
I was pissed. To be honest, I’m still irritated, which again is why it took me so long to do this.

re amazing and before the wedding it was pretty easy to get in touch with him by email. He was very accommodating as we did not know the exact number of people (even on the wedding day it changed) but he promised to have extra food just in case. I was so excited for all of my guests to try the food and meet John, and was therefore taken entirely by surprise on the day of my wedding when my coordinator told me during our pictures that no catering staff had shown up yet. When she called/texted John, it was reported that he was out of town and his chef covering him had been in a car accident. We felt awful and John offered to pay for the food we had to call in as well as reimburse us, which we thought was entirely fair. If that had happened I would be giving him 5 stars. However, three months after our wedding, John has been increasingly difficult to get in touch with and although promises of a check on the way and then a direct account transfer were made, none have been received. 3 weeks of trying to contact him and let him know the transfer was never made have gone by and I still have yet to receive a call, email, or fb message response, making it seem as if I am being ignored completely at this point. It breaks my heart to write this as I really liked John and hope that his chef makes a full recovery, but we were promised something and are still, months later, waiting for it, and that just doesn't seem right in my book. *Note: I am more than willing to update this review if and when reimbursement is received, because I really did like John that much. I just hope this waiting doesn't go on much longer.

ding into the perfect day!! I first met him at the bridal show but honestly thought he was too good to be true so I explored other options. Unable to find anything reasonable that would work within our budget I finally reached out to John and he invited us in for a tasting. Not only was the food incredible but because he provided all the China, silverware, water goblets, champagne flutes, coffee & coffee cups, serving dishes etc etc etc free of charge we were able to cancel those items from our rental contract and saved close to $800! Even with all of that included our price per person for 2 hors d'oeuvres during cocktail hour (butler passed-for no addl fee) a Chef attended Buffett with Chicken in a Basil Cream Sauce (he originally served that sauce on tortellini at our tasting but I requested we put it on the chicken and no problem!) & Steak w/ a Duxelles (sp?) of Mushroom Sauce, Green Salad, Bread, Veggies & Garlic Mashed Potatoes (to die for!) was less than half what other caterers wanted for pasta! Fast forward to the night of our wedding and the setup/presentation was beautiful, the food was fresh & hot (despite our venue being up in the mountains with no access to a kitchen) and he personally checked in with each table during dinner to ensure everyone was pleased and had everything they needed (and they were!!). We are still receiving raving compliments on the food weeks later. I even had a guest that didn't make it comment that they heard the food was great! He is such a kind & generous guy too, he kept throwing in extras or asking if we needed other things he could get and every time we would ask "how much would that be?" the answer was always "nothing!" My only regret was that I didn't get to fully appreciate my meal that night, I took a couple quick bites of everything and got sidetracked talking to guests and before I knew it it was time to move on to the next wedding duty. My husband cleaned his plate though and was thoroughly impressed! Maybe we can talk Chef John into recreating it for us one day. Hehehe! I don't think "No" is in his vocabulary so the odds are probably pretty good! Haha! In case you still aren't sold my brother got married 2 weeks later out of state and he and his wife spent 4x what we did per person and we all agree Johns food blew theirs away! Don't waste your time talking to anyone else like I did, make John @ LeFox Catering your first (and only) call!
