The communication with this venue was a nightmare. We scheduled a tour, with the manager knowing that we live four hours away. When we showed up for our appointment, no one was there and our phone calls weren’t being answered. After awhile she called us back and told us she forgot, rescheduling for the next day. This we would have forgiven, but since then the communication has been terrible with less than half of our emails being answered and even fewer of our questions. I would have really loved to have my wedding here, but considering this is the service that was provided even BEFORE we made a deposit, it didn’t seem worth leaving our big day up to this management or rather mismanagement. Beware and good luck.

Everything was absolutely perfect. This was hands down the best wedding reception venue on account of Bob Vardzel and the gorgeous, very spacious, fully equipped house. Bob even helped us with a park square permit for our ceremony! It was really convenient to have him make the rehearsal and reception dinners-(less vendors to coordinate, and the food was to die for!), and have a place where we could stay on property after the reception (and for the weekend). With six bedrooms, one being a cottage separated from the house, it gave my husband and I some privacy, and a very comfortable stay for our parents and siblings. 10 people slept and lived in the house very comfortably for a long weekend. Bob was so helpful throughout the entire COVID rescheduling nightmares, had plenty of experience to help with timelines of the big day and was very familiar with our other vendors, which made planning and communications a breeze. Highest recommendations for Bob, the Whitman and his staff. Amazing time was had by all and we will definitely be back!

The Whitman Mansion was the most incredible wedding venue we could’ve asked for. From the location to the overall experience, we left Savannah already planning our next stay there. Bob Vardzel and his staff made our wedding weekend and stay so wonderful, and we can’t thank them enough! We did a destination wedding, so most of our planning was done over the phone or through email. Bob was responsive and willing to make anything work to make our rehearsal dinner and wedding day perfect. The staff helped us from beginning to end, and helped bring all of our wedding visions come to life. Up until the day of the wedding, we were unsure about what the weather was going to do for our big day. Bob provided peace of mind with the flexibility and numerous options with how tables and chairs could be arranged for any idea that we had. Our guests absolutely raved about the rehearsal dinner and reception food. We will always remember that mushroom risotto - absolutely amazing. We were able to have our wedding parties stay in the house for the weekend, which made the whole experience even more special. I would recommend the Whitman to anyone looking to get married in Savannah. Thank you so much Bob! We can’t wait to be back.

This review is late in coming but wanted to give a HUGE thank you to Bob for helping to make our daughter's wedding perfect. The Whitman House is such a beautiful venue to host a wedding. Many of our family members stayed at the house for the weekend of the wedding and it made for such an intimate and family oriented occasion. From the planning stages to the actual day of the event Bob was there to make sure everything ran smoothly. The food is prepared leading up to the reception right in the kitchen and was delicious! After everything was over and most of the guests had left I looked around and everything had been cleaned and put away. Spotless. Of course I am bias but it was definitely the best wedding I have ever been a part of. Look no further than The Whitman House if you are looking for beautiful wedding memories.

I can’t say enough about Bob and the Whitman. The house is absolutely gorgeous, welcoming, and inviting, and Bob Vardzel is such a huge reason for this. From the moment we inquired about this venue, he was unbelievably responsive and incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the house and the city. He helped with so many planning details from day 1, and when we arrived to triple digit heat, he was flexible and suggested some great alternatives so our guests weren’t baking in the hot sun. The dinner he made (just days after a major surgery- amazing dedication) was literally one of the best meals I’ve ever had. He was friendly and inviting to our guests, and to us. Bob went above and beyond all of our expectations and made sure we had an amazing wedding weekend. Booking the Whitman was the best wedding decision we made, hands down.

The Whitman was an exceptional place for our wedding. Bob, the manager, was very helpful in getting things arranged for us. He was responsible, careful, thorough, and attentive without being overbearing. The location itself is beautiful. All of Savannah has a charm to it but this location is genuinely magical and worth every penny.

This is such a beautiful historic home and the location can't be beat - right across from the Forsyth Park! Bob and his staff are the best. Whatever we needed, they made it happen. We had our wedding rehearsal and welcome party here and it was beautiful, food and drinks were excellent. All of our family and friends loved it, as did we!

Booking The Whitman for our wedding was one of the best decisions I made. The house was so beautiful and charming and created the perfect environment for us and our guests for our wedding weekend. Bob Vardzel went above and beyond our entire stay. We got married in the courtyard, had a cocktail hour on the first floor of the house and then the reception in the courtyard. Thanks to him and his staff everything went smoothly on our wedding day and I cannot thank him enough for that. Our guests also raved about our food at the reception!

We recently had our wedding at the Whitman and it was perfection!!!! We are from Louisville,Ky and Bob made planning a breeze!!! He was so helpful and just a joy to work with! We had him cater our bridal lunch and reception of course and let me tell you the food was out of this world!!!! He is one amazing chef!!! I’m not sure if I’ve ever heard so many people love the food at a wedding but all of our guests sung such high praises!! We absolutely loved it.
His son add is amazing as well! It poured down rain just about 1 hour before our ceremony with no end in site!!! Bob and is staff moved out all of the furniture in the two front rooms so that we could have our ceremony inside!!! They are such hard workers and made everything amazing!! Can’t say enough great things about The Whitman!!!

The Whitman was as beautiful as it looked in pictures. Words cannot describe our picture perfect wedding put on by Bob and his staff. We completely trusted them with everything and they did not disappoint. The food was perfect, venue was perfect, the park was set up and ready to go. There wasn’t a single thing we would change about our wedding and we owe a lot of that to Bob and the Whitman Staff.
Yes, the home is as amazing as it looks in the pictures and videos. The food is 5 star and the customer service was phenomenal. You would be crazy not to use this as a wedding venue.

The Whitman was beyond everything we could have imagined. We booked the Whitman for a destination wedding with about 45 people in April 2018. The house itself has 4 bedrooms, with an additional cottage outside, and a 5th bedroom/office attached (but private) to the master suite. There are also 5 or 6 built in couches that double as beds on the 3rd floor. So it can sleep 15 plus people comfortably. The house is beautiful and has everything you need.
The only stipulation when you rent the Whitman for an event is that you have to use them for catering. Bob, the general manager, is extremely helpful, friendly, and, most importantly, a great cook. We did a BBQ buffet with hor d'oeuvres (charcuterie and bacon wrapped bbq shrimp (which was to die for!). The prices were very reasonable and everybody loved the food. The Whitman also supplied a bartender and can provide all the alcohol you need or for $5 per adult you can supply your own--which we did and, of course, bought way too much. Also, they don't charge for children under 12 for the buffet.
Bob will also take care of getting a park/square permit if you need it. Saves the hassle of dealing with the City if you're out of town. We had the wedding a Forsyth Park and then all of the reception events at the Whitman. Everything ran smoothly and Bob and his staff were perfect!

The Whitman was absolutely perfect for our wedding of 75 and I could not have asked for a better experience with Bob and his team. From start to finish, Bob made the wedding planning process easy and executed our rehearsal dinner, welcome party, wedding and reception flawlessly. He and his team know the venue inside and out and were easily able to come up with a rain plan when we got some unexpected weather the night before.
The house itself is absolutely stunning - by far the best venue we toured in Savannah - and is very well maintained. Our family (who all stayed in the house) were very impressed!
If you have your wedding at the Whitman, do not miss out on Bob's catering. The food was delicious and beautifully presented + the owner of the house is a fantastic grill master.
Overall, I would give the Whitman 6 stars out of 5. Wonderful experience and made our wedding day incredibly special.

This house is absolutely gorgeous! It is a great blend of beautiful historic structure with lovely and convenient modern features. We booked the whole house, cottage included, for 3 nights for our small Savannah wedding and were able to comfortably accommodate our wedding party. Our ceremony was held in the front parlor at the bay window overlooking the iconic Forsyth Park - it was like a dream! As if the house and location weren't fantastic enough, the staff was thoroughly impressive. Bob Vardzel, one of the managers, went above and beyond helping us have the best time of our lives. He also happens to be the head chef at The Whitman and I must say, our reception dinner was some of the best food I've ever tasted! I highly recommend anyone looking for a wedding venue, event location, or beautiful getaway spot to stay at The Whitman Mansion! It was everything we wanted and so much more!

I happened to stumble across this venue when I was searching for elopement packages in Savannah and I am SO glad I found it! For starters, this venue is GORGEOUS with some of the nicest property owners you could ask for. For the elopement package, they don't have a limit to how many guests you can have (as long as you are willing to pay a little extra over the advertised price online, but it isn't much). They provide you with a champagne toast, a delicious cake made by one of the property owners (who is a baker and together they used to own a catering business), a bouquet for the bride, a boutonniere for the groom, and the house to stay in for two nights. The only downside is that you are required to use a certain reverend, but that is the only requirement. Everything else is catered to your personality and it is such a great place to welcome your loved ones to see you get married.
We got married in the back courtyard and the staff setup all the chairs for the ceremony, moved furniture out of one of the parlors for the dance floor (since it was incredibly hot the day we got married), setup up all the food, setup the "bar" station (which we were able to bring in all of our own drinks), cut the cake for us, and cleaned up after everyone. They were incredible and I didn't have a thing to worry about the whole day.
My husband and I stayed in the cottage in the courtyard (which is equipped with a living room, kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom), while our families stayed inside the house in one of the other five bedrooms. The girls and I got ready in the cottage while the guys got ready on the top floor, where a minibar and pool table is located. My husband and I did our first look across the street at Forsyth Park before the wedding began. We had about 40 guests total and it was a perfect amount for the day.
I would HIGHLY recommend this venue, located just outside of Forsyth Park. My husband and I are already looking to plan a visit back there for a future anniversary :)
