Summing up Michelle’s photography for my wedding: she has given my husband and I some of the best and most memorable photos (and not just because it was our wedding day). The wedding day started out sleety and snowy, which made a mess in the morning (Michelle showed up promptly), but provided a lovely backdrop by late afternoon. Wedding was at indoor venues at the Saint Louis Zoo, but the pictures my husband and I took after the ceremony were around the Zoo. We had the Zoo to ourselves and it was a blast. Kali, the polar bear, came up to the glass of his enclosure and posed with us! No joke, they are the best pictures ever!! Michelle really caught our personalities and as I said earlier, the best moments--from full belly laughs at inside jokes to my mom and I dancing “The Carlton” to the way my husband’s grandma lovingly looks up at him--it was all documented. And did I mention the Kali pictures?! ;-)

Michelle is incredibly creative and talented! We loved her 'outside the box' style and passion for capturing out of the ordinary shots! Her focus on the individual wants and wishes of her clients made for a spectacular wedding album. Beyond all of this, she was super comforting and encouraging to those who were a little uncomfortable with the whole 'photo shoot' thing (me!). From our first meeting with her all the way to our big day, everything was perfect. Her tech savvy billing process and constant communication all year long made everything a breeze. She does a great job of getting to know you as a couple, your likes and dislikes, and capitalizing on what's important to you. And that's just the programmatic aspect of what she does, she's also the most talented photographer we've ever worked with! To say we were blown away by our photos would be an extreme understatement. I mean, they are just.....everything. So many candid captures of the people we love and the moments that made everything so special. And even the staged, 'stand and stare at the camera' photos we requested have so much personality! Our wedding day flew by, so we were amazed at how many details Michelle captured that we didn't have time to appreciate the day of. That was really, really special. My photographer was beyond amazing when it came to matching our goals and delivering. She was referred to us by another couple and was the best referral we received out of all our vendors !!! Under Grace Photo made it a point to capture all of the moments of the day. We had several requests as well and she did not disappoint. Working with Michelle and her team was wonderful. Michelle got the "required" large family photos in a short period of time...with great direction, Grace and humor. We went to 7 weddings the year that we got married, so we had plenty of opportunities to see wedding photographers at work. I could be biased, but even after all that, I think we picked THE BEST. Michelle was professional, prompt, and impeccably organized. She answered all of our questions and provided very simple, transparent pricing info upfront. She was easy to talk to, and was very accommodating as we planned our wedding remotely. We were only in town once before the big day, and even though it was five months early, she made time to meet with us in person. I appreciated that nearly all of the logistics of the day were planned and communicated well in advance. We spoke on the phone to confirm a timeline and location details, we worked collaboratively to build a shot list and family formal list. When the week of the wedding arrived, I didn't have any lingering details to see to. On the day of the wedding, Michelle, Rae, and Becky were an unstoppable trio. They worked efficiently and seamlessly to capture all the shots we wanted (and those we didn't know we wanted). We felt comfortable and at ease. They were never invasive. We simply lived our day -- interacting with our friends and families -- without that nagging feeling of being "watched" or being put on display. Michelle knew when to speak up to keep us on track for the day's schedule as well as when to be flexible and adjust as things inevitably strayed from the plan. She was even amenable to a last-minute change of location! At some of the other weddings we attended, it often felt like the photographer (or videographers) were prioritizing their work over the overall experience of the day. We saw, for example, instances where the bride and groom were preparing to cut the cake, and we as guests could only see an army of photographers totally blocking the action. Or during the first dance, a swarm of photographers orbiting the couple the whole time. With Michelle and team, we got LOVELY photos of the ceremony, toasts, dances, cake-cutting, all the moments that you want to be captured, but we weren't even aware of their presence. It seemed that they swooped in, got what they needed, and then silently slipped away. Amazing! The quality of Michelle's work is top notch. We hoped for photos that were journalistic, that captured the day as it was, without a lot of extra fuss and staging. Michelle has a great eye for color and composition and lighting. She made us feel at ease in our couple-shots, and she also knew how to wrangle large groups of family efficiently. So not only could she select lovely backdrops, she made sure that the people looked good too. With 10 hours of coverage, we got 1200 lovely photos. We spent a little more than we had initially budgeted, but in the end, I wouldn't change a thing. Michelle and Rae and Becky were the best, and worth every dime!

Awesome all around! Michelle did my engagement pics and wedding pics. Both were phenomenal. She was very thorough, finding out our like and dislikes and what kind of pictures we were looking for. She was also awesome at keeping us on schedule and letting us know our timeline so we knew what to expect and when. We got our pictures back quickly and were completely satisfied with the whole experience!

Michelle did an excellent job! My husband does not like to take photos at all. After the engagement session, he remarked how fun it had been. I knew then, we had picked the right photographer. On our wedding day, she kept things moving on time and took Pinterest perfect pictures! I can't speak highly enough of her and her team! I wish there were more stars than 5.

Michelle is simply the best wedding photography that there is, she made everything so easy and the photographs turned out more beautiful then I could imagine. We received our photos so quickly after the wedding and she was able to capture each moment perfectly. As the groom in our wedding I had two thoughts in my brain when it came to the photographer. There are too many to choose from and they are really expensive. Well, turns out for us that there were not too many to choose from. After our first meeting with Michelle we knew she was the one for us. We didn't even bother looking for another. So now we are left with my second thought the cost. It is a lot of money to spend on something that we all take for granted everyday. Our ability to take a picture of anything. But trust me, most of us don't have the abilities Michelle has with a camera. When we finally saw our photos (by the way I don't think a month had even passed at that point) my hesitation with the cost had disappeared. Michelle brought everything we wanted from our wedding into our pictures. Our Love and adoration for God and for each other. They caught every subtle look, grin, smirk, and face of per joy. Those little moments that you don't remember until you see them again. She also helped me out with our surprise first dance. My wife and I didn't want to dance in front of every one. It just isn't our style. But Michelle helped me arrange to have music play when we went off to do our separate pictures. It was an unforgettable moment that is now saved in our pictures. Michelle was one of the first vendors I booked for our wedding, because I knew photos were one of my top priorities. It was one of the very best decisions we made for sure. Michelle is a true professional, who cares about what her clients think and want out of their wedding photos. She is more than willing to listen to brides who (like me) know what they want, but do not always know how to articulate those thoughts. She really saved the day for our rainy wedding by thinking ahead and planning some stunning indoor shots, as well as using the wet outdoors to create beautiful images. Probably the best part about Michelle is how easy she is to work with. She was a calming force for my husband, who was very nervous prior to the ceremony and hates being photographed. Without her sunny demeanor and talent, our photos would not have been so stunning. She can spot the best spot for lighting unlike anyone else. Once we saw Michelle's previous work we knew she would be perfect for our wedding. She has a more unique, creative artistry in her work - not the cookie-cutter, cliche, same old boring wedding shots (sunglasses, everyone jumping in the air, etc.). She has an exceptional eye for light and all of our shots came out beautifully. We also requested a slide show to show our "first look" photos during our first dance. Michelle advised she had never done this before, but went for it anyway and let me just say, it was the BEST part of the entire evening!! We didn't want to pay for a videographer, so a slide show was our second best and I'm so glad we did - a HUGE Thank You to Michelle and her husband and assistant. You caught all the special moments in our day and we couldn't be happier. The moment I met Michelle, I knew she was going to be amazing to work with. She is so professional but also has this down-to-earth relatable personality, which is really important when you are going to be working so closely with a vendor. She even worked with us to customize our package to stay within our budget and keep the must-have options we wanted. I can't say other photographers would be as flexible and understanding. She completely understood our values and what we wanted to take away from our wedding day. I love how she captures the special candid moments and has a keen eye for angles and light that you may think is strange at first, but when you see the end result, you realize she is a mastermind! When we saw our final wedding pictures, my husband and I were both blown away. We decided to go with Michelle because I felt an instant connection with her. She told Thomas and I that her main goal was to go unnoticed and to catch the candied shots which is something we were going for. She is so easy going and puts off this wonderful calming vibe that I think everyone needs on their wedding day. We were so excited to have Michelle capture our day on film! I have admired her work for years, but it was amazing to see her in action. She does an great job of taking creative shots without you even realizing it! I was surprised by the fabulous photos that came from the most unlikely places. She was always quick to reply to emails which was nice because there was a bit of confusion right before the wedding. From the getting ready and detail shots to the ceremony and party pictures, she was really able to capture our wedding day in all its glory. And as someone who tends to dislike all photos of myself it was so fantastic to look at everything she did and think "Aww, I look pretty!" A budget photographer she is not, but where value is concerned we don't have even the slightest complaint."Worth every penny" is a phrase we've heard from tons of friends and family. These are truly photos that are as artistically beautiful as they are meaningful, and I know we will cherish them for the rest of our lives. Now I just need another excuse to book her again!

Michelle of Under Grace Photography is amazing. She is based out of St. Peters MO but traveled in IL for our wedding in Edwardsville IL. Michelle captured the moments of the day that I will never forget. She was also extremely flexible and stayed for a extra hour at our reception. I highly recommend!!
