If you weren't a Belieber already, Justin and Hailey Bieber's wedding might have converted you. While the couple's weekend-long celebration was a hot topic in 2019, it was the supermodel's wedding day look that caught the attention of to-be-weds everywhere. Hailey Bieber's wedding hair, in particular, captured our hearts because it was so gorgeous—and so, so simple. She rocked a totally laid-back look for her nuptials: a low chignon with a sleek center part and pearl hair pins. For the actual ceremony, Bieber wore a custom embroidered veil, emblazoned with the phrase "'Till Death Do Us Part," for a dramatic touch.

The bride's simple wedding hairstyle perfectly complemented her custom Virgil Abloh gown, which was styled by Maeve Reilly. The dress (which made it into our roundup of the top celebrity wedding dresses of all time) was a long-sleeve mermaid gown made of lace and embellished with pearls. Given the ornate design of the fabric, Bieber's hair choice made complete sense. It allowed the gown to shine and showed off the model's natural beauty.

Ever since Meghan Markle rocked a low bun on her wedding day, messy chignons have been trending everywhere. In fact, it continues to be one of the top wedding hair trends, proving this low-maintenance 'do is here to stay. Whether you want to rock it on your wedding day or DIY it for a pre-wedding party, we've created the ultimate guide breaking down everything you need to know. See all the details on Hailey Bieber's stunning wedding hair below, and shop our curated list of must-have products to recreate her style.

In this guide:

Who did Hailey Bieber's Wedding Hair?

To achieve this gorgeous day-of 'do, Hailey Bieber enlisted the help of celebrity hairstylist Jen Atkin. Atkin has an impressive roster of A-list clientele, including Kendall Jenner, Dua Lipa, Bella Hadid and Chrissy Teigan, and she also owns her own line of popular hair products called OUAI. Bieber and Atkin have a long history of working together, and they continue to collaborate to this day. Bieber's choice to bring on Atkin to her glam squad illustrates the importance of one of the cardinal rules of planning your own wedding 'do: Work with someone you trust. How to Recreate Hailey Bieber's Wedding Hair

What we love most about Hailey Bieber's wedding hair is that it's unfussy and easy to pull off. In just a couple of steps, you can steal the star's stunning style for a prewedding event, which we break down below. You can also share photos of Hailey Bieber's wedding bun with your own HMU team so that they can emulate the look for you on your big day.

Create a Sleek Center Part

One of the most important parts of this look is the sleek center part. It makes the hairstyle feel much more modern, and it looks effortlessly chic. To ensure you have a clean line, part your hair down the center with a rat tail comb while it's still damp.

Blow Out Your Hair

Next, you'll want to blow out your freshly washed hair. This will ensure your hair looks sleek and shiny when you pull it back. Plus, blowing out your tresses will help add much-needed volume to this simple updo so it doesn't fall flat. Use a blow dryer and a round brush to completely dry your hair and make it silky smooth.

Add Loose Waves For Texture

To get that *perfectly undone* look, you'll need a bit of texture on the ends of your hair. Use a curling iron or wand and wrap the lower part of your hair around it (think: from the mid-shaft to the ends). Once you release them from the iron, pull on them to get a messy-looking beach wave. Then, when your hair is completely cooled off, run your fingers through the waves for a tousled look.

Secure Into a Low Ponytail

Use a boar-bristle brush to pull your hair up and back into a sleek low ponytail. Then, secure it with an elastic. Pro tip: Resist the urge to tighten your pony once it's set in place—it may create unwanted bumps.

Twist Into a Bun

Next, you'll need to create the actual bun. There are several different ways you can achieve a low twist. Here are a few of our favorite ideas:

  • Wrap your hair around the base of the ponytail until a bun is formed. Secure the bun by pinning the ends of your hair around the elastic.
  • Section your ponytail into two pieces, and then create a rope braid. Do this by twisting the two sections around each other (twist each individual piece too to achieve a raised, rope-like effect). Secure the end with an elastic, and then wrap the braid around the base of your ponytail and secure with pins.
  • Section your hair into three pieces, create a standard braid, and then secure it with an elastic. Gently pull on the edges to create a fuller plait, and then wrap the braid around the base of your ponytail. Pin with bobby pins and tug on the edges of the braid for a messier, undone look.

Top With Accessories

Once you've created a classic low bun, make it your own by amping up your look with hair accessories. Take a cue from Bieber and place pearl hair pins into the sides of your buns, or consider a sparkly comb, fresh flowers or colorful tinsel. Lock the style in place with hairspray and a touch of shine spray to achieve supermodel status.

Hailey Bieber's Wedding Hair Products

Although Jen Atkin never released a comprehensive list of products she used for Hailey Bieber's wedding hair, we have no doubt that they used her own OUAI products. Here are three essentials to have on hand when recreating Hailey Bieber's wedding 'do.

OUAI Volume Spray

In a 2021 YouTube hair tutorial, Hailey Bieber revealed she always uses OUAI's volume spray, saying, "It's the best and it smells amazing." This lightweight mist adds body to your locks by lifting strands, adding texture and increasing shine. Spray this product onto your ponytail before twisting it into a low bun to give your mane a boost in shape.

OUAI Hair Oil

Another must-have in the OUAI collection is the brand's hair oil. If you'll be blow drying your hair before attempting this 'do, we recommend smoothing this hydrating product across your locks beforehand, as the formula helps to protect against heat damage. It also fights frizz and gives off a high-gloss shine effect, making this multitasking product a must for your wedding day or any related events. You might even consider keeping a mini bottle in your emergency kit for touch-ups throughout the day.

OUAI Texturizing Hair Spray

To ensure your Hailey Bieber wedding hair look stays in place all day, we recommend using OUAI's texturing hair spray to lock the chignon in place. A cross between dry shampoo and hair spray, this pick will build volume and texture while simultaneously soaking up oil and refreshing your hair, ensuring it stays picture-perfect all night long.
