Our wedding was held at The Estate at New Albany who used to use Its Your Day Wedding and Events for their florist. Therefore, I followed them on Instagram and really liked their work. About 8 months from our wedding date, our venue changed to ...a different florist. Therefore, we got quotes from the new florist and it’s your day (Gayle) for our entire wedding flowers. We went with a Gayle because it was a lot cheaper, she had good reviews and I liked her work on Instagram. One of my friends also had previously worked with Gayle for her wedding too, which made me feel even more comfortable.
We met with Gayle and booked with her the same day. We also paid our deposit the same day. About a week later, she sent us an email asking if we decided who we were going to book with. I was confused and told her we booked with her when we met. She then asked me how we wanted to pay our deposit. I informed her that we already paid. She realized this and apologized. This was just a very weird encounter and made me a little nervous about who we booked with.
About a month or so goes by and she made a post on Facebook about our how excited she was to be working with us and included a wedding date for us. However, it was the wrong date. Simple mistake but i was still worried that she didn’t reserve our actual date and might have double booked us on accident. I sent her an email and she confirmed the right date and apologized for the error.
We got married on a Friday, the Wednesday before the wedding, she made a Facebook post with a picture of the flowers she ordered for the wedding. The picture also included a caption stating that they were vendela and faith roses. We had originally talked about faith roses (in January when we booked) but Gayle told me they looked more purplish-pink so I should go with sweet akitos for a blush pink. Therefore, I decided on sweet akitos and all of our conversations for the next 6+ months revolved around sweet akitos and vendela roses, no longer faith roses. The picture in the photo she posted also showed that the faith roses do in-fact look more lavender than pink so I freaked out. I didn’t care about what kind of Rose it was, only the color. I immediately emailed Gayle and she told me she would fix it. I ended up not being able to sleep much that night due to being worried about the wedding and now my wedding flowers. My MOH went over the next morning and saw that she did in-fact fix the error. She got new flowers that were now a blush pink and looked beautiful. However, it was a lot of added stress for me to have the day right before my wedding.
The flowers on our wedding day were beautiful. That is why I gave such a high rating. The only issue with day of flowers was one of my bridesmaids had a flower in her bouquet that was more of a hot pink while all the other flowers were blush pink. We just positioned the bouquet in pictures so you wouldn’t see the random hot pink flower. Overall, we couldn’t beat the price for all the floral work we had done, just would have liked the process to be more organized and less stressful.
