WORKING WITH ME, ABBIE, AND MY TEAM A few years ago I came across this phrase... "It's a beautiful thing when a career and a passion come together." Reading it I realized how true it is, and how blessed I am. I am so passionate about making every aspect of a couple's dream day come to life. I live for the love stories, the Pinterest boards, and those bittersweet end-of-the-wedding-day hugs where we are both so happy about how everything turned out, and so sad we won't be planning together anymore. In working with OKOTA I've always wanted couples to feel like they have really built a relationship with a friend. Over several months we will have sent countless emails, calls, and texts, and we will have developed a trust so that you can feel like the vision of your wedding day is in the hands of a very dear friend. Whether OKOTA is your photographer, videographer, your day of coordinator, your floral designer, your invitation designer, dessert bar designer, venue for your celebration, or if we are lucky enough to do all of the above, you can feel confident and comfortable that my team and I know you, what you love, and how to make it happen :) ABOUT OKOTA, OH-KOH-TA OKOTA comes from the word ‘Kota” and the expression ‘O’. ‘O’ is often times used when one is in awe of something. ‘Kota’ is derived from the name of the Native American tribe, the Lakota. The Lakota people are believers in the turtle creation story… Long ago the creator summoned a turtle to go to the bottom of the sea and bring forth the earth. When the turtle emerged from the water it had upon its back the mud foundation of the land. This land was built upon by the Creator, forming our world. From this Native American creation story turtles have become symbols of a strong foundation, longevity, and wisdom. Their slow movements remind us to slow down, and enjoy life on this earth. Their long lifespan, and wrinkled appearance make them a symbol of longevity and wisdom. The turtle is said to have the oldest of all animal souls. OKOTA honors this Native American symbolism in their work. OKOTA works to create a strong foundation for the start of a changed life. OKOTA makes this foundation strong and capable of long time success with wisdom gained through years of experience. Abbie and her husband were great at being able to change the schedule last minute due to the weather and still get all of the pictures we wanted. We eventually decided on having "normal" pictures with Michael Myers (from Halloween.. complete with butcher knife and all) popping out randomly throughout our pictures. We also had some pretty cool broomstick riding pictures to include our love of Harry Potter. our wedding day helped us to bundle four services into one and it was a wonderful experience due to Abbie and her team! From the very beginning Abbie made us comfortable and it felt like we were immediately working with a friend. She goes above and beyond for her couples really getting to know them and being there every step of the planning process.
When getting ready for our engagement photos, we had no idea what to expect. As soon as Abbie arrived, she made us feel comfortable and like we could act natural and have fun with our photos. When it came to our wedding day Okota captured every aspect and gave us a HUGE collection of photos. It is so wonderful to not only have pictures of the wedding party but also so many candid pictures throughout the reception to really show the celebration. Even as Abbie was photographing our entire evening she was constantly checking if we needed anything and was making sure our day was going to plan, and because of Okota’s service it was! We are so happy we chose to go with Okota for our wedding and are so thankful to Abbie and her team!

t what we wanted. I am all about organization and the details (as I know most brides are) and I knew I could trust that Abbie and her team would make the day perfect!
Little did we know that she offered many other services to help us out that day as well! We had an out of town wedding in Lexington, KY so knowing that Abbie's team would be in charge of our cake and dessert bar was a huge relief and something we could check off of our list! Everything was SO gorgeous and just what we wanted for the dessert bar. Tons of cupcakes, cookies and a small cake for our guests to enjoy. We let Abbie know what we had in mind, but it was something we never had to worry about. The design was gorgeous, we were very happy with how it turned out! Lastly, the desserts were all so yummy and we loved how we could have a good variety.
Overall, the photography experience we had with OKOTA was amazing. Abbie and her assistant were there bright and early to capture each moment of preparing for our day! We didn't hire Abbie as our planner since our venue had this in their package, but it felt as though we could go to her for anything. She made sure to stay on top of my timeline I created for the day and that was important to my husband and I! We felt so comfortable with her and absolutely LOVE how are photos turned out.
We had both of parents over to view them and we completely relived our wedding day and the photos brought us to tears! The style is just what we were looking for and we cannot recommend Abbie and the OKOTA team enough!!

I got ready and spend the entire rest of the day with us. She has an eye for capturing the perfect moment. She was very organized and made sure that you got every photo/ pose that you wanted. I am completely happy with our decision to use OKOTA for our photographer and would definitely recommend Abbie and her team.

I have earned degrees in graphic design as well as photography from Xavier University. In 2014 I received my International Wedding Planning Certification from QC Event School, and set out with the goal of building a wedding business that offered a whole new level of ease and comfort for busy brides trying to plan their dream weddings.
I planned my own special day in August of 2017, and am now over the moon to be married to my best friend and high school sweetheart, Kris. Now, we have two fur babies we are absolutely obsessed with, Willow and Winston.
