We loved this venue. I would highly recommend the Erickson Alumni Center to anyone planning a Morgantown Wedding (especially hard-core WVU fans, of course).
First of all, it's a beautiful building. We had the ceremony in the courtyard, ...cocktail hour in the Kennedy Club Room, and the reception in the ballroom. It was really like 3 beautiful venues in one, each with a different style, and SUPER convenient and comfortable for our guests. The getting ready spaces were also excellent (especially for the bride!!!).
The wedding packages were very reasonably priced. We were SO pleasantly surprised that the venue allowed us to customize the package, which made it easy for us to enhance the stuff that was important to us, and also pull items out of the package (e.g., we didn't pay the package price for alcohol because half of our guests do not drink). We had many guests compliment us on our food (even said it was hard to pick an entree because they all sounded so good!) and we particularly loved the appetizer selection at cocktail hour.
A few other things we loved: they worked very well with our other vendors (linens, chairs, etc.), the crew that helped us set up on the day of was extremely helpful and accommodating, they allowed us to add local beer to our bar, they provided us an excellent backup option in case of inclement weather (and gave us flexibility when making the call to have the ceremony outside), stored and plated hundreds of desserts for our DIY dessert buffet, and in general just brought everything together for an awesome wedding day.
One of our only issues was that during the wedding a group of high school students entered the venue and were taking homecoming pictures (homecoming was NOT at the venue). This would not have been an issue, but some of them (and their parents!) were rude to our guests and tried to crash our cocktail hour. The fact that such a big crowd was able to enter the venue suggests a need for better security. We did follow up with them after the wedding and they assured us that the issue would be addressed.
We only have one other small critique. Early on in our planning process, we made all of our arrangements with Mary Kinsley. However, within a few weeks of the wedding, Brenda Simpson began being our point person for arrangements. I'm not sure if this is typical, but it was a little bit of a rough transition and some information seemed to get lost in translation from Mary to Brenda. We had to re-hash a good bit of our selections, and there were a couple of errors that caused some last-minute stress (e.g., sending us a contract with another couples' names on it within a week of the wedding, leading us to panic for a moment that they had double-booked our date; confusion about our bar package, which could have substantially impacted the cost). However, everything worked out just how we wanted in the end!
Our only issues were minor, and were so specific they're probably unlikely to be experienced by other couples, so I'm mostly bringing them up so the venue gets feedback. I would recommend the Alumni Center without hesitation! We can't thank them enough for all they did to make our wedding day amazing.
