According to Adam Brody, he met his wife Leighton Meester years before they were co-stars in the 2011 film The Oranges. In March 2021, he explained to Anna Faris on her Unqualified podcast that producer Josh Schwartz was the one who had initially introduced them. "Josh Schwartz produced both [of our] shows and literally the first time we met, that whole [Gossip Girl] cast was eating at Canter's—and I lived at Canter's for my entire 20s," he said. "And I was leaving, and he introduced all of us."

"I had no idea whether she was a good person or not. A source did, however, confirm to People that Meester was "very happy" about the secret wedding. "She has a lovely ring. She likes [it] a lot," the source said, calling the event an "under-wraps wedding" that was "super intimate."
Immediately following their nuptials, the pair jetted off to the St. Regis Punta Mita Resort in Mexico, but sources later denied that the trip was a formal honeymoon. "She was in Mexico shooting," the source said. "Adam was with her, but it wasn't their honeymoon. It was strictly a professional trip." Since then, not much is known about their honeymoon choice.
