We wanted something a little more edgy and artistic for our wedding photos, and J more than delivered. I am crazy about these photos! When he sent them to us (super fast btw) I was blown away! Working with him was awesome and he fit our vibe perfectly. He’s pretty rad and I’m so happy he was a part of our wedding!

J was an AMAZING photographer. He did both our engagement shoot and our wedding photography, and every shot was flawless. Our photos were edgy, vibrant, and personal, and I love that he always knew exactly what to do. Too many wedding websites suggested "must have wedding shots" for brides to give to their photographers -- this was completely unnecessary with J! I truly could not be happier with our photos. Everyone looks so glamorous and badass, and I'll cherish these memories forever. Thank you so much!!

J is a true professional in the most fun way possible. Communication is great, he is able to keep photographs on time, he is kind and truly knows what he is doing! As a wedding planner, I will definitely be recommending him to my couples. Not to mention, his work is amazing and is not your run of the mill wedding photography.

I haaaate having my photo taken. I was super anxious about the whole process going into it. It takes a certain amount of trust to let someone photograph you... Jay and his Bellocq team were A from start to finish. We were blown away by A) the sheer amount of photos given back (they don't cap their packages at certain photo counts) and B) how seamlessly the entire collection flowed together from start to finish. We couldn't have asked for more. We will definitely be re-booking them for our family photos (first baby on the way!!!) in the future. Jay is incredibly kind and fun to be around, and just puts you at ease. That is the first thing you'll notice when you meet. Can't recommend Bellocq enough!!!

Jason couldn't have been easier to work with. Not only was he incredibly professional, he made sure my wife and i were comfortable through every step of the way. His photography is unmatched. All of our photos from our engagement shoot & wedding day came out spectacular! I couldn't recommend him more!

J is truly incredible to work with! He immediately made me feel comfortable and wasn’t “pushy” when I was deciding on photographers. We picked him because 1.) his photography is seriously amazing, and 2.) he is a genuinely wonderful guy, and I knew he would put me at ease throughout the day. His rates are also very reasonable and there are no “hidden” fees. I really liked that he was with us the ENTIRE day too! We just got our wedding photos back (SUPER FAST TURNAROUND) and I am completely in love! I don’t even have the words to describe how incredible they are. He captured so many moments that I didn’t even know happened, and now we have hundreds of photos of people laughing and crying throughout the day that I wouldn’t have ever seen if he wasn’t there! We wanted someone that was artistic and didn’t just take the “stereotypical” wedding photos, and he exceeded our expectations. He was very responsive throughout the entire process and took the time to thoroughly answer every single question I had. He was even helpful during the wedding day with things not entirely photographer related, like helping me find something I lost at one point and exuding a “chill” vibe that definitely calmed everyone down! My entire family adored him, and we are already thinking of new events in life that we will hire J for! I am SO thankful he was with us for our engagement photos and wedding day, and I cannot recommend him enough!

J. was fantastic. He was like a ghost in the crowd during the wedding and caught such amazing moments throughout the event. As the bride, there was so much going on and I didn't have to direct J. at all, he just flowed through the preparation, ceremony and party with ease and captured everything. He also had some fabulous ideas for posed pictures post ceremony. From the start I knew he would be great because he contacted me immediately after I sent a request to him and actually PICKED UP THE PHONE to speak in person. Crucial in my book! We were absolutely impressed with his professionalism and the pictures are beyond even "a thousand words". We couldn't be happier. Are you a little bit alt, geeky, or otherwise counter-culture? Needing a chill vibe for your big day? Repelled by rustic, live-laugh-love style photography? Read on! J did our engagement photos as well as photography for our wedding, so in and of itself, that says a lot! He was able to pick up on our vibe for both shoots, so both are a bit different, but remain feeling very authentic to our nature as a couple. So much life, color, and excitement shows through in our engagement photos, and the vintage, dreamy feel of our wedding was taken to the next level! I'd like to add, as an introvert, trust me when I say that you will be taken care of. Not once did we feel embarrassed or pushed out of our comfort zone, from planning to during the shoot itself. Once you get chatting with J, it will feel like an old friend is there with you. The turn around time for getting the photos back was timely, and it is obvious a lot of thought is put into the editing. I love that the same or similar pictures will be included, but with different color filters put over it to make various things pop in each one. In our wedding photos, I also loved that there were "bloopers" or more just natural moments included. We got back some precious pictures of genuine reactions this way. It was wholesome to see people in the background of images laughing as a reaction to a joke, or getting emotional during the ceremony. Not everything is staged and that lets you relive the day so much more clearly and truly let the personalities of everyone shine. J was exactly what we were looking for in a photographer and I can’t recommend him enough! We didn’t have a very traditional wedding and wanted to keep things casual while still having some incredible wedding photos to look back on. J was quick to respond in the planning stage, very reasonably priced, and most importantly was such a calming presence on the day. We got our pictures back quite quickly and when I did I was fan-girling over them for days and days - and honestly, I still can’t stop looking! They are the artistic, outside-of-the-box portraits I had hoped for! It was so nice to get pictures that were not only beautiful, but also show clearly showed us as a couple and our personalities! We got so many amazing photos that I don’t know how I am going to choose which photos to share and print. Thank you so much for everything J!!

Jason is amazing!!!!! He photographed my mom's memorial service and my elopement and both times he delivered something so spectacular and truly knows how to express the action and joy of the moment. We also only had 5 people at our wedding and Jason still managed to make himself invisible as he took photos. I also HATE being photographed - it makes me very uncomfortable and now I have dozens of beautiful photos of myself with literally no effort on my part. I can't recommend Jason enough!!!

Jason's work is absolutely magnificent! His intuition for what to capture was perfect, from the largest gestures to the smaller more intimate exchanges between us and our guests. Jason tailored the shots to our taste while matching his artistic touches in ways that expertly fit our personalities and how we envisioned our special day. His fees were very reasonable and our photos were ready much more quickly than we could have imagined. From start to finish, our experience with Jason was phenomenal. We could not recommend him more highly!

I’d give more stars if I could. My photos turned out even better than expected, probably because I just let Jason do his thing. I’m really, really happy with how the whole day went and even happier with how everything turned out. Looking at the photos is seriously like a dream.

We had an amazing experience with Jason. Our package included and engagement shoot and we needed to get them done before the save the dates, but Mike and I's vibe isn't necessarily nature-esque. Jason suggested we come out to New Orleans where he'd be for the next half of the year, and that was PERFECT. Such unique and cool photos, which only made us that much more excited for the wedding day. Both he and his 2nd shooter made our wedding party and family feel incredibly comfortable, especially those who aren't used to being photographed. Photos throughout the event turned out incredible, I'd recommend him to anyone for any type of shoot.

Jason is THE best photographer to work with! He takes the most amazing/interesting shots. And he is incredibly kind and accommodating. We have now hired him for multiple events and all different types of events, weddings, birthdays, etc. His photos have been wonderful, and he remains our top photographer to work with.

My wife and I just celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary, and our walls are still adorned with the amazing, gorgeous shots Jason took of us. He made us both look gorgeous (not a problem for my wife, but I'm a bit more of a task), and also exactly who we are. His eye for detail, for a spontaneous angle, spots for us to cruise to for a few quick shots...it looks like us, but the best us we've ever looked in pictures. He works fast, but also made us feel totally at ease, as if we were old friends hanging out. I've recommended him to every couple I've known getting married, and even booked him for an event myself! You'll have these pictures forever, and ours are treasured keepsakes! BOOK JASON!

Jason was frankly incredible! He came highly recommended and we weren't dissapointed. He took incredible candid and posed shots, with many of the posed looking candid. Of greatest value to us was his ability to capture quality moments with our son and daughter who do not make taking pictures of them easy. She prefers awkward fake grins to avoid opening her mouth (her teeth look great, but she doesn't think so) and he likes to make crazy eyebrows (which he learned from me... do'h). Jason was able to capture both of them with normal smiles (even if they aren't normal for them ;). For this alone he was priceless, but his actual rates were quite reasonable. Based on the recommendations we recieved, we expected a premium, but he was actually less than many other vendors we considered. He also uses a great website that you can share with family and friends so they can order any pictures they want as well. Speaking of wich, he also took great pictures of all the guests. Reviewing the photos after the fact we learned he'd done a ton photos of the the guests (mostly candid but a bunch of posed as well) so they all benefited from his execellent service as well... no need any of them to pay for a separate family photo shoot this year! We cannot recommend Jason highly enough. His flexability, empathy and frankly genious talent with a camera make him priceless!!!

Jason is incredible. He is a talented photographer and storyteller, and a great business person to boot! He is exactly who you want your friends and family to interact with your wedding day. I would highly recommend him to any person looking to capture the essence of their wedding day and of their beloved family and friends. Regarding the business perspective: my partner and I planned our wedding from afar and from the start Jason was responsive and easy to work with. I admire that he didn’t pressure us on hurrying to book the way other photographers did and he made the time to connect with us. He was also able to process photos quickly and with high quality. Regarding the photos: we purchased his engagement and wedding day package and I could not be happier and think he was priced very competitively. My partner and I had previously had engagement photos done with another vendor and their quality was not even comparable to Jason’s. Because of Jason’s photo journalistic nature and our desire to avoid a lot of staged poses Jason built a beautiful story of us and our engagement and wedding day. His photos are striking, surprising, and beautiful. He captured heartfelt moments that I did not see during our wedding, too. Our friends and family are in love with the photos that we have shared with them and we are so honored to have had Jason capture our wedding day. I cannot wait to look at these photos for years to come and relive our wedding day!

When I searched for wedding photographers (and BOY did I search!), I was looking for an artist who could make me feel something. As soon as I found J's website I knew he was the real deal. Hiring J was THE BEST decision we made for our destination wedding in Vieques, Puerto Rico. He exceeded our expectations because he captured so many moments that have left us in awe, in tears, in fits of laughter, and in complete joy. He also made my husband and I so comfortable throughout the entire process. Turns out planning a destination wedding is HARD. Haha What we enjoy most about our photos is that they are not boring or corny or staged; rather, besides being absolutely beautiful, they are candid, natural, and totally "us"! These pictures mean so much to us and we will treasure each and every one of them for years to come. I highly recommend Jason!

Honestly, Jason was the best photographer we could’ve asked for! He gets ALL of the most authentic photos in the perfect lighting. We had a mix of posed and spontaneous photos and requested that he get as many genuine, fun, funny, and goofy photos as possible, and he DID NOT disappoint. If you’re still deciding who to go with for your photo session, just stop looking here ❤️ there isn’t a single picture I didn’t absolutely love.

We met Jason on the 8 passenger plane to Vieques, Puerto Rico. It was fate. He was shooting a wedding at the W and we there to plan our wedding for the following year. My husband loved his artistic photography style and I love that he was from my state of MN! Jumping ahead a year to our wedding… It was so much fun driving around the island of Vieques to all the sites J had searched out the days before. Ocean, colorful buildings, graffiti walls, feeding wild horse my bouquet, grabbing a snack at the street vendor so Rory (my husband) wouldn’t get hangry, boats in the jungle. So magical and fun! This guy! We were so thrilled to book him for our wedding this past June, he is so talented. He is quick with responding and easy to work with. The photos are so unique and turned out better than we imagined. Highly recommend if you're looking for something different than every day photos!

I wish I could give 10 stars. Or maybe a million. You will spend more time with your photographer on your wedding day than your spouse. You want someone cool to hang with—not only does Jay make you feel extremely comfortable and listens to your crazy ideas and makes them better, he is also a true artist. You will get back photos that are better suited in a gallery than a wedding album. I need more walls in my house for his work. He went above and beyond for us! We went down to New Orleans for our engagement photos and the day of our shoot was a complete washout—but he made some of the coolest photos and we all an awesome time. We could not have asked for a better photographer and and so lucky to be able to call him a friend now as well. My family and friends also loved him — so much so that my sister booked him for her wedding next year! Thank you, Jay, for everything! Here’s hoping you will photograph us again in the future: babies, Christmas’, another NOLA vacation, casual backyard BBQs… :)

We worked with Jason for our COVID wedding and for our reception the following year. It was a great experience and worth the cost. Pictures were a big deal for us so we wanted to work with someone who was passionate about their craft and Jason is just that. He and I met to go over some of his previous work and get to know each other and to determine if we would be a good fit for each other. Then we entered an agreement to work together. He was extremely flexible in working with us when COVID hit which meant a lot to me as a bride. He was very responsive when we had any questions. He was on time for all sessions. He was also patient with our families when they thought they knew more about photography than he did. I would say my husband and I are not the most photogenic people but he made us look stunning. He had places in mind for us to take couples photos which was great and eliminated that stress for us. We received A LOT of photos which all told the story of our special day. Overall, Jason was fun to work with and I would definitely recommend using him for your special day!

Jason was such a pleasure to work with. He went above and beyond to get photos of every part of our big day, and even dropped in on the Rehearsal dinner to capture some moments from that night. His work is perfect for couples who are tired of the same old boring wedding photos. I could not be more pleased with the quantity and quality of images we ended up with. Highly recommend!

Jason and his team exceeded all expectations I had for our wedding photographer. He was deliberate in getting to know who were were and what we wanted. The custom made creativity that he had was not for the masses, but for my wife and I. I am a baseball guy and when I say he knocked it out of the park, I mean he put it in the parking lot 3 streets down. He and his team were kind and patient. They made a beautiful yet stressful event fun and care free. Please if you do nothing else that I ask, hire this team to do your photography for your special day!

We used Jason for our engagement and wedding photos and couldn't be happier with the results!! He is amazing to work with and his assistant photographer was wonderful too. In addition to some of your more traditional wedding photos he got so many great shots of our bridal party, friends and family enjoying our day!! Highly recommend!!

Jason is the best. He fits seamlessly into your day as you envisioned it, while simultaneously offering up ideas and opportunities for amazing photos you would never have imagined and you won’t see any of your other friends having from their weddings. He is relaxed and professional, totally background and at the same time in exactly the right places at exactly the right times. You want to hire him.

Looking back through all the pictures J. Took of our day is like reliving the wedding. He captured every moment, from start to finish, telling the story of our day. He found amazing backdrops that showcased the fall of northern MN. He met with us the week before and was easy to talk to and calmed our nerves. His photographs are truly family heirlooms, not typical or bland, which is exactly what I wanted. Jay’s photography is just perfect, plus he is a really good human. :)

I have to say, this is probably one of the most amazing collection of wedding photos anyone has ever received. I wrote Jay and his 2nd photographer the following email shortly after viewing our collection: Jay & Kimie: From the sheer volume of coverage--which allowed us to virtually relive the day, and also to see so many things that we ourselves missed because we could only be in one place at once (and Kimie appears to be able to be in 5? :))--to the amazingly candid quality of the shots, we were absolutely floored. We are ourselves, but we are transformed--more obviously in love, more lit up--hell, even more attractive, haha. But it's seeing my mom's reaction to me in my dress, it's the shot of us hugging my dad, it's a whole deck of photos of Josh and my first dance, such that I could basically feel my dress swirling around me again. And the shoot! Omigoodness, the editing job Jason did accentuates beautifully the close-ups, the laughter, the forest colors, our absurdly emotional expressions. I knew I laughed and smiled and was happier than I've ever been, but I had no idea my mouth was so wide open with true belly laughs, that I was grinning so hard I might be mistaken for a Cheshire cat. I knew Josh was emotional, and attentive, and in awe of everything that was happening, but I didn't know he cried so much, was constantly looking at me with such abject adoration. The whole collection, it's just astounding to see all of this captured. I am so grateful, it's like, oozing out of my pores. We cried a half dozen times looking at them, and I feel like I will spend the rest of my life tearing up and feeling warm inside and just generally being grateful to have these memories and this proof of the magical day that we wrought. It took us a good year to make that crazy festival, and it was so full of love and art and community, and now that I see it from the outside--not just caught up in the moment when it's so overwhelming you can barely take it all in--I am even more proud and grateful for our friends and family and each other and for what we built that day. So, obviously: Thank you endlessly from the bottom of our hearts. We will literally feel like we owe you both forever. I could not have imagined a better collection or envisioned more thoughtful and artistic shots. You're both magicians, and I thank you thank you thank you. <3 Jaimee and Josh

Jay's pictures are one of a kind. He's a phenomenal, talented artist. As I'm not one for the typical cheesy wedding photos, it was easy to see his style fit ours perfectly and I didn't have to look any further. Not only are his photos unique and beautiful, he's one of the most down to earth, chill people I have ever met. On your wedding day you will be stressed (no matter what you think) and the last thing you want is your photographer bossing you around and making you feel even more stressed. He just asked us when he needed to be there and let us do our thing. When our timeline was slightly off, he worked with it. At times, you didn't even know he was there, and yet our pictures say otherwise. We would highly recommend Jay for anyone's wedding day. We are planning on using him in the future for other events/pictures because we love him so much. Thank you, Jay! You rock. :)

Quality: Jay was excellent. He captured so many great moments, great candids. Anything he lined up took a beautifully natural, but edgy look. He's great at this and it shows in his work and the way he makes his subjects feel comfortable and confident during the shoot. Responsiveness: he responded to all of our inquiries immediately, the weeks and months leading up to the wedding, until the day of, always communicating. Then kept us posted on the status of the photos after... which, by the way, were done within TWO WEEKS of the wedding. He even sent us some sneak peeks a few days after so we could share on social media. Professionalism: we contacted Jay to do a boudoir shoot prior to the wedding, which is always odd and a bit nerve-wracking bringing a stranger into such a personal setting, but he was professional to the extreme, great coaching, made us laugh and feel comfortable and had us looking our best. Value: he was with us for the entire day of the wedding, trying to catalog every moment as it happened. For the price, for his style and incredible skill, for the speed of return, for HOW MANY photos we got back (over 1,000!), his value can't be beat. Flexibility: he shot our private boudoir (indoors), pre-wedding (outdoors), wedding with friends and family, around-town reception on Halloween night - vast array of settings and styles with seamless transition. The dude is just that good. You're done shopping around.
