My name is Michelle and I am one of Matty Bolda's clients. I was using ALL of Matty's services. I was planning on using his services for my wedding on September 24, 2016. My fiancé and I booked his services on September 23, 2015. A whole year i...n advance as Matty told us that was the only day in September he did not have an event booked and he urged us to book right away. He insisted that we pay only in cash... Okay. We agreed. He said by paying him cash we would save money and he would give us a better deal. He was going to to not only provide photography, videography, photo booth, and DJ but he was also going to marry us. We were asked to pay cash that day. He wanted a retainer of $1200.00. We gave him all the cash we had on us and gave him the rest days later. Matty seemed like such a great guy. He is a hunter, just like My fiancé and he even sent us home with some wild game.
My fiancé suddenly passed away. I tried contacting Matty Bolda to cancel all our services and let him know ASAP so he can possibly rebook the day however Matty would not get back to me. Instead, I was only allowed to speak with his wife, Jeannie, who I had never met and did not know she was part of his business
Every other vendor I used was very understanding. This was not a situation where we decided to call off our wedding. MY FIANCÉ DIED!!!!
Matty D, DJ and Photography is the only vendor giving me a hard time.After my friend tried calling on my behalf as I was dealing with my grief and planning My fiancé's memorial. She again explained the situation to Jeannie and asked if they could please refund the retainer. Jeannie however was very short and rude. My friend asked if there was a possibility if they rebook the day could they then give my deposit back and her response was that “I doubt that they will” She then told my friend, that the 2 people on the contract are Michelle and her fiancé and they would only speak to them moving forward. Really? Obviously you can only speak to one person on the contract because the other person died. My friend asked if she would at least speak to my mother as I was dealing with my grief and she said no, only Michelle and her fiancé. What a slap in the face for her to even mention his name. I then spoke with Jeannie on the phone and told her I would like Matty Bolda to give me a call. Three weeks went by and I never heard from him. Finally, he contacted me. I asked if I could get my retainer back. He said no. I asked for 50% back he said no. He said that his employees depend on the 52 Saturdays a year of work to pay their mortgages. I said so your workers get paid for 0 hours of work? He said he looks at it like losing $3300.00 not gaining $1200.00 for nothing.
I told him how, his wife was very rude to not only my friend but also to me when I spoke to her and Jeannie requested to speak with either my dead fiancé or I. She had no compassion. I told Matty that his wife is going to be the reason he loses business. I said I have rapport with you and wanted to speak with you about this matter. He said that he was "too much of a sap for these stories" so he hands these matters to his wife. I told him that if he wants to be a successful businessman he would have to have these "difficult" conversations with his clients.
If you plan to do business with Matty Bolda prepare to have cash ready and make sure your wedding will go through no matter what because he won't refund you even if your future bride or groom dies.
