ed with Andrea, the owner when she originally started my contract. She contacted me 364 days before my wedding to tell me she was cancelling my contract due to lack of payment. The result is she confused my wedding (a year later) with the wedding the next day with someone else who had my same first name and different last name. My contact was up to date with second payment pending as we were not close to the second due date. The next issue was the three separate occasions I scheduled a trial and she did not show up at the location. Each time the location was closed, my contract indicated the New Haven location and I confirmed the location multiple times. Additionally, the trail was not a working environment. Andrea did my makeup quickly, and hastily and did not ask how I wanted it done and the end result was unsatisfying- which I told her at the time. Last, my wedding day she sent a freelance hair artist for my bridesmaids. The freelance artist indicated she tried to back out the day before because the time and location were changed multiple times. I still do not have verification she was paid or the tip I gave Andrea reached this freelance artist I had never met prior to my wedding day. Andrea then asked me for additional payment on my wedding day, unanticipated and unannounced and not part of my contract. The lack of communication and professionalism are beyond appalling and I hope others take notice to not hire her or her company in the future.

arding price, I kept asking the owner Andrea for the breakdown in cost, she wouldn’t give me a clear answer. She sent me an email with random calculations without any explanations as to what each charge is. I was told, my hairstylist Chris was going to arrive at my Airbnb at 1pm for glam waves and and a blow out. Here’s how it actually went: He was so late. He was kept saying he was in dead traffic but I could hear his dog barking in the background. He didn’t even know what I was getting done for a hairstyle. He texted me saying “an updo will take me 20 minutes”. He kept brushing off the fact that he was late by saying how good he is. He even shared his instagram handle after being hours late MEANWHILE, I had a photographer at my place that could no longer take getting ready photos. Because I was told 1pm for a start time, I had to have my makeup artist come earlier than she planned. So now my make up was done way too early to make room for my hair and he didn’t even show up remotely on time. I had to ask him to meet me at the venue because he was so late I couldn’t be further away or else I would be too late for my ceremony. So then I had to get my hair done in the venue in a very small suite with no AC. Then he arrives at 4:45pm for a 5pm ceremony start time. I DID NOT get glam waves that I paid extra for. Probably because no one even told him what I wanted and he had no time. He quickly curled my hair, which I could have saved myself all the stress and done myself. I was 20 minutes late for my ceremony and people were waiting in the heat outside. Lastly, he quickly put on my veil so poorly, it fell off while I walked to the alter ruining those photos too. Then I relay how all of this went to Andrea the owner on 8/7/23. I was expecting a much more apologetic response and prompt refund from such a “professional” business. I requested a refund 10 days ago and I just keep going back and forth with her. She still can’t reassure me with an actual plan to refund my money for the poor service. Im extremely disappointed that I spent $359.50 for a very rushed unprofessional job. You can see from my text threads when I ask for a concrete answer she never actually answers me.

f you are lucky enough to book with them, I recommend booking at the Woodbridge location & reserving a dress fitting the same day as a makeup & hair appointment.

we pivoted some of our looks because of the weather. She and her team were fun, professional, and incredibly talented. They even let me add two unplanned family friends to get their hair and make up done on the wedding day because we had extra time. Andrea did my hair for the rehearsal as well and I was so pleased with how it turned out, it was such a great way to get pampered before the long weekend. I would highly recommend Andrea and her team!

gnore it an offer a date that I clearly said didn't work. It was honestly exhausting. Once we finally had our trial it was OK. The makeup by Kate was very good, but we wanted to retry the hair. We decided to do another hair trial and this time Andrea came (the owner). Both my mom and I were looking for curly half-up hairstyles. She arrived for the trial at 4pm and was done with BOTH of our trials by 4:40pm. She spent almost no time on our hair and it looked nothing like what we asked for - which really was not complicated. We tried to say we wanted something with much more curl and volume and she just told us she would do something different on the actual wedding day. She didn't try to fix it or work with us. She had no intention of giving us a true trial of what it would look like on the day. She used one curling iron that was way too big for our short hair and WAY too hot. Worst of all, she BURNED my moms grey hair. My mom has had the same grey hair for years, but when she left the trial half of it was yellow. This is really unacceptable for a professional hair stylist. She would not own up to it, we tried to give them the opportunity to make this right and after a series of exhausting and rude encounters, I fired them. I did not feel comfortable having any of them near us on my wedding day. Honestly, I am shocked at how Andrea runs her business. Do not hire them.

The OWNER did not respond to my phone calls or texts requests to send help. She finally replied by text asking me if everything was OK. I replied no and explained what was happening. The OWNER then sent a text to the makeup artist to help the hair stylist! How could this be possible with 9 people plus the bride getting hair and makeup done? We were told many times by her this would be enough help. This was supposed to be a fun morning with the bridal party, MOB and MOG getting together in the hotel suite. It turned into a nightmare! I spent most of my time on the phone trying to get in touch with the OWNER! My daughter had a breakdown, was miserable and crying on her wedding day! Her response to my texts were ridiculous. I wish I could post them. Honestly she could have cared less. 2 bridesmaids did not get hair and makeup done. 3 bridesmaids missed the limo ride and drove themselves to the venue; MOG had no time for her makeup to be done or she would miss the limo; My (MOB) makeup and hair had to be rushed so I could make the limo. I sent the OWNER a scathing text and she responded to me with a text to call her on Monday and she would do a refund for any inconvenience. I text her on Monday. She told me to send an email and list the names and reasoning and call the business line (which no one ever answers). The OWNER said she would create a damage and release form for anyone who didn't get a service done if it was because of timing. I never received this from her (First of all the OWNER told me she doesn't give refunds, as I already had a problem with our hair and makeup trial. We did not even get our makeup trial. The OWNER did make an adjustment to the bill). This is the response the OWNER sent me after I sent her a extensive detailed email of EVERYTHING that happened the day of the wedding. "I am on medical leave. From what I understand the hair and makeup was completed, which means our contract was fulfilled. Please feel free to leave an honest review. You are right due to COVID we had a lot of miscommunication and I hope you both feel better. Best of luck". We did not have COVID and the contract was not fulfilled. I am leaving an honest review. I sent her a another email to which she never responded. If you choose to use this company you might be one of the lucky ones that will get all the services she provides, but you are seriously taking a risk on your special day. The OWNER posted pictures on her FB page and Instagram of a wedding that took place on the same day as my daughter's. There were no pictures of our wedding. I believe this is why the hair stylist was so late, as she was at this wedding prior to coming to us and probably ran late due to the fact that she didn't have enough help. Be warned. You can go to The Knot and look for a listing on 10/9/22 (a week after my daughter's wedding) with almost the same review that I am posting. Also she keeps rebranding her business' MBD Beauty, Bar Beauty and BRIDAFY is the latest one. Hopefully this review will save some bride from a nightmare experience on her wedding day.

The original girl Brittany who I loved and gave my hair allll the curls and volume got fired. She deserved better anyways, but omg this was incredibly stressful for me. I wish the knot allowed pictures in reviews for comparison! The following is one of many reasons I will not recommend MBD **side note, when you Google search them, it newly says “Wrong Business Name and Details”. But don’t worry, you’re in the right place! I had my trial approx. 7 weeks before my wedding. My artists were Desiree & Brittany. They were amazing and had me practically in tears when I saw my look, so I booked them for my day. Then 4 days before my wedding, the owner Andrea sends me the call sheet w/ artists whose names I did not recognize. I asked about Desiree & Brittany, and Andrea tells me they were fired. Andrea failed to give me a heads up, there was no offer to have me do a trial with the new artists, and no apology. This was my wedding day and I did not feel comfortable having someone do my hair & makeup when I never had a trial with them. My makeup, like I said was awesome, but my hair was not like my trial. My curls were much flatter/ had no where near the amount of volume, and it did not last nearly as long as my trial hair. Unfortunately, there just wasn’t time to have the artist Sandy attempt to fix it. I’m very curious to know how Andrea would react if this were her own wedding. I recommend seeking hair/makeup services elsewhere, but should you still choose to book with MBD, please get everything you are told in your contract!!

BUT the events leading up to that were far from beautiful. At my hair trial, the owner told me she would be there the day of my wedding along w/ Sandy (my stylist) to help with hair since there were 11 girls total that needed hair. On the morning of my wedding, only Sandy showed up. When I asked Sandy where the owner was, she said she didn't know. About 45 mins later, a random girl shows up to assist Sandy since there was DESPARATE need for a second person. Then, according to my bridesmaids, the 2 hair stylists were arguing w/ each other. Also during the hair trial, the owner asked if I wanted hair extensions for the wedding day to create a fuller and longer look. I agreed to purchasing $200 hair extensions because that was the look that I wanted and had dreamed about for my wedding day. The owner purchased the hair extensions for me right then and there. She verbally said that she purchased the jet black hair extensions to match my hair. Then, in an email sent to me about 2 weeks before my wedding they said, "I am going to pre pack and curl the fake hair for you." All was well until the morning of my wedding when I found out that Sandy did not have my hair extensions that I purchased. She asked me if I had them, LOL! I told her no and asked if she had the extensions to which she also replied no and had no idea what I was talking about. To say that I was infuriated would be an absolute understatement. This was supposed to be one of the best days of my life. Every girl deserves to feel beautiful on her wedding day and deserves the look that they wanted and paid for in full. Sandy, clearly panicked, then tried to convince me that I didn't even need the extensions anymore. Yeah, maybe I didn't need the extensions, but that was not the point. I paid for the extensions because that was the look that I wanted as a bride. You know it was bad when one of my makeup artists from a diff. company felt so bad about MBDBeauty's mistake that she offered to give me the extensions that were on her own head. Finally, after about 25 awful mins, Sandy says that the extensions were on their way miraculously. The extensions showed up and they were very clearly not the extensions I had ordered. They were not jet black, they were light brown. They were not even curled yet which was what was promised to me in the email. I have every right to believe that someone ran to the store to get random extensions and not the ones that I paid $200 for. The overall experience w/ the company has been awful. I was treated like the mishap with the extensions was my fault. When I had questioned what I was being charged I was given an attitude. If I had a question, it was responded to in a very short tone; they made me feel like just another number. I did not have one single issue with my other vendors for my wedding! The worst part was their email response when I told them what happened on my wedding day. THEY DIDN'T EVEN APOLIGIZE OR ACKNOWLEDGE WHAT HAPPENED! It makes me absolutely sick to my stomach; stay far away from MBDBeauty because there are NO guarantees for a smooth day. If something does happen, they don't own up to their mistakes.

I went for a first trial and no one ever wrote down the names of the people who did it. I went to try and book a retrial for hair and no one knew who it was (she was supposed to do my hair day of) and then it turns out she was fired. I would have never known if I didn’t book a retrial Secondly, on my Google doc and with a verbal confirmation I was told the owner would be one of three people who came day of. Only two people showed up, the owner not being one of them. She texted me far into the getting ready process while I was getting my makeup done if she should come, not the time of day I want to start making arrangements with people! Lastly, as I was coming back from my rehersal dinner I was told to text a screen shot of my final payment. You would think they would have gotten that and not had to bother me. I found this business to be very unorganized and puts a lot of pressure on the bride to stay organized while doing none of the leg work themselves. The hair and makeup turned out well but they were definitley my most stressful vendor to work with

It was discussed the Monday before when she made me send her “proof” that I paid the deposits and for my trials via screen shots (which were done months ago so I had to search for transactions). She also had me booked for 1 hair stylist for 10 girls and assured me that that 8 am to 12:45 (yet i agreed to 11??)was plenty of time for 1 stylist to do 10 girls. Thank god two hair stylists showed up because it would have never happened. 8 pm the night before my wedding I find out that she has an 11 am start time. She calls me at my rehearsal dinner letting me know I was wrong and I was making “last minute changes” I’m sure she’ll respond to this review saying I am lying, but I have screen shots. The hair and make up stylists were AMAZING and should really find another company to work for. Also all the 5 star reviews are from men. Not sure how many males need bridal services.

The responses by the company to negative reviews on google even made me hesitate to post this review but I think brides should be aware of what to expect if they do decide to book MBD. Take a look at the lower ratings and see what other brides have had to say about their experiences. Without going into the details before the day, my actual hair and make up turned out good. Hair showed up an hour and a half later than agreed upon and caused us to change plans for photos. I understand that things can happen but there was no apology or any mention that she was late. My maid of honor had to have the robe photos without her hair done. Something that I didn’t realize was that pinning a few locks of hair back into the half up half down look was considered an updo- I was told during my trials that it was considered the “simple” version. Had communication been better, I think I would have known that before the day. Again, I think some people have good experiences but unfortunately, I found the management, customer service, organization, and communication to be the worst of all the vendors I booked. My impression and perception from our experience was that Leanne (make up) was the only person that showed any sort of empathy or cared for how I felt from this company.
