La Tabela was founded in 2009 by Chef Jerumel Laygo, a Los Angeles native and honors graduate from Le Cordon Bleu in Pasadena, with an externship in Barcelona. After working with culinary legends like Wolfgang Puck and El Bulli, he developed his signature California French Fusion style. Upon returning to the U.S., he was mentored by Chef Kevin Meehan of Kali and launched Kali Dining, a successful pop-up dinner series in Los Angeles from 2012 to 2014.
In 2016, Jerumel partnered with Brandon Dicaprio of Circle Rock Ranch to create La Tabela, "the Farm to Table Experience." Set in a rustic shed in Topanga Canyon, they served eight courses using ingredients sourced from their mini farm. In 2015, Chef Jerumel also opened CAfe 27, formally known as, Topanga Table, showcasing his breakfast and lunch menus. His culinary journey continued with a trip to Costa Rica, where he studied Plant Medicine under Rachel Thomas, integrating medicinal herbs into his dishes.
As La Tabela gained popularity, it expanded to Malibu beach houses, downtown lofts, and intimate Hollywood Hills gatherings, attracting an array of celebrity clients and partnerships with major brands, including Vogue, Chanel, Disney, GQ, Rolling Stone, netflix and more.
While specializing in intimate dinner parties, La Tabela also caters weddings, baby or bridal showers, and special events, as well as wellness retreats in Joshua Tree and Northern California.
