booked our DJ instead! The owner Al really took a personal interest in the planning process, which I appreciated, and their on-line planning tools were helpful and easy to use. I would have liked to meet the DJ once ahead of time, but it wasn't a big deal. I liked that this company also offered some lighting options. We chose to add a small package of up-lighting, which I was happy with and appreciated being able to add a little extra ambiance without having to deal with an extra vendor. There were only a few minor negatives, which might have been avoided if I had a chance to be more specific beforehand: there was a song dedicated to my parents, but they were not in the room when Alan started to play their song, so we had to send someone to find them. This may be my only actual complaint about Alan... the DJ should know to check that the parents of the bride are around before playing the song dedicated to the parents of the bride. Also, there was one classic song, where he played a different version than I requested, but I blame myself here, I should have added a comment explaining that I wanted that specific version so he knew I wasn't just confused about the usual singer. Overall, great experience and I definitely would recommend this company!

A major benefit to working with Okyne is their easy planning process. Their online planner was a great tool; we could easily select our songs from an extensive list, and it also organized our timeline and requests, which helped make sure we weren’t forgetting anything. The owner, Al, also did a final meeting with us before the wedding to make sure everything was understood and correct. From planning to dancing, working with them was great!

tell you how many people said our wedding was the most fun one they've ever been too and a lot of it was because of our DJ. Do yourself a favor, it’s a huge stress relief not to have to worry about an empty dance floor and people having fun. At one point my husband asked Gordon if he was good (referring to his shirt) and Gordon goes no and then tucks in the back of his shirt. Seriously he was the man! He and his team provide everything you will need on your wedding day such as trust, enthusiasm and a guarantee to rocking your wedding to the max. We had DJ Alan, and he KILLED it. Music is one of the most important aspects of a wedding and Alan just "gets it". EVERYONE was on the dance floor from the first song until the very last. We saw people dancing that we've never seen dance before. Al and his team are truly amazing at their craft and are pure professionals from day one. We had absolutely no worries throughout the planning process, as they took care of it all! People are STILL talking about how amazing our DJ was! Hands down, the best night of our lives, thanks to Al and team. Thank you thank you, THANK YOU!!!!

d on the organisational side of things we were very impressed. Al was responsive in answering all our questions, and we appreciated a secondary catch-up call during the week of the wedding to go over any final details. Okyne Media Lab also offers a decent client portal on their website that allows you to enter all your event details and timings in advance, and create a selection of “must hear” / “like to hear” / “must not hear” songs from their extensive library. You can create these lists at your leisure in the weeks leading up to your event, and save them for editing later. The DJ then mixes those in with their own selections according to your taste. Unfortunately we did have some issues with DJ Corey on the day itself, where some pre-defined details were not adhered to, and there was some disagreement on musical style and attitude. We've since discussed it with Al Okyne, who was happy to speak to the DJ and then arrange a follow-up call with ourselves, and we understand that the matter has now been dealt with. Overall Okyne Media Lab are a well-organised company, and the DJ was on time and well-presented on the day itself. We'd simply encourage future couples to be very specific about their expectations, ideally to the DJ him/herself, to avoid any misunderstanding.

ediately sold. Not only were they easy to work with, they REALLY live up to their promises. Alan was our DJ and I have never had so much fun in my life. I probably did a terrible job of interacting with guests if they weren't on the dance floor (though there were very few of those), and based on the photos, learned I should not sing/scream so much when a photographer is around (not pretty), but I couldn't help myself. It was amazing! The dance floor was packed the whole night...with friends, cousins, aunts, uncles, the few kids...he played something for everyone, and when there was a song request (since song requests were banned), he made sure to get my permission. The biggest concern during planning my mother and mother in law had was the music...they wanted to be sure we threw a fun party, and fun party it was! I kinda (really) want to relive the night over and over again! Thank you!!

We had DJ Ben for the evening and he was FANTASTIC! The guests didn't get off the dance floor until after 12 and he kept everyone dancing with a great array of music. We had several special requests of classical music to play, personal favorites, and some songs which were just hard to find, and he managed to play them all keeping our guests happy. easy to work with leading up to our big day. They were very quick to respond to emails. The platform that they use to get our vibe took a minute to get used to but they totally got us. Our DJ Randall was a perfect match. He kept the dance floor packed and played all of our favorites.

When I looked them up, I was immediately excited. They advertise themselves as never playing the corny, line-dance type music you often find at weddings, mixing music, and always keeping the party on the dance floor. Al, the owner, was also very convincing during our first meeting and I felt confident that we would have an absolutely amazing DJ at our wedding! We were told that we would have a final meeting with our DJ, Matthew (they assign a DJ about a week ahead of the wedding) but this never happened. We had a Skype meeting with Al again, but never actually spoke with Matthew to go over everything. When it came to the night of our wedding, the music and party was just underwhelming. We have a fairly rambunctious group of family and friends, so with the help of a great DJ we should have had a crazy party. This just didn't happen. He started the night with one of the very songs they promised they wouldn't play-the Cha Cha Slide! I also specified to Al that I only wanted 2-3 slow songs played the entire night. He played 12-no joke, and would play 2-3 in a row which totally killed the party. There was also absolutely no mixing of music as they promised, which was the entire reason I hired them. Our dance floor was often empty, which was so disappointing. On top of everything, Matthew actually mispronounced our new last name during the introductions (and it's not a difficult last name). Overall, Okyne Media Lab is not a horrible company to work with and did a fine job, but they are NOT the unique, extraordinary DJ I was hoping for. While they were dependable and friendly, if I could go back I definitely would have hired someone else.

The venue where we got married had a piano, and we were lucky to find out that Okyne has a D.J., Matt, who could play the piano. We ended up having Matt play the piano during cocktail hour and playing our music for dinner and dancing. Even if you aren’t looking for a piano-playing D.J., Okyne’s organization and genuine desire to make our event great were so valuable to us. Their website forms make choosing the music and planning the timeline for your event easy and fun. Everyone that we worked with at Okyne treated us with respect, and Matt’s easy-going nature helped us relax on our big day. We quickly realized that this was one aspect of our wedding day that we were not going to have to worry about very much because they understood what we wanted and were going to take care of it!

requested. They had asked us to fill out a sheet with music we liked and we spent a lot of time figuring out what we wanted to have played. They also advertise as not playing any of that "cheesy" wedding music like cha cha slide etc. But, the cha cha slide was played at our wedding. We did not want cheesy wedding music! People really weren't dancing much because the music that was being played was not good. We kept asking him to play music from our list but he said he was waiting for the older crowd to leave first and was gearing the music towards them. The problem with that was the older crowd was not dancing anyway so we could have at least had the young people dancing to what we wanted. The other problem with waiting until the older crowd left was that our wedding was earlier so it was scheduled to end at 11 and our older family members all stayed until around 10:30-10:45 and then he started playing our music. So, we payed $400 dollars to the venue to extend our wedding out for a half hour until 11:30 so that we could dance longer to our music that we wanted. On top of that the music during dinner was very loud, we heard a lot of complaints from guests that they were having to shout to talk to each other. And the equipment was not great, my father and brother in laws surprised us by singing to us at the reception and the microphones were horrible. We like electronic music, and when we spoke to Al (whose a great salesman), he said their DJ's also work at clubs at night. So we figured they would be a good choice. But the DJ was just a stereotypical wedding DJ, which is not how they advertise their company. You never meet your DJ before the wedding. I didn't know his name until a week before the wedding because I received a phone call from him to introduce himself, but I missed the call since I was at work. I was just too busy with everything before the wedding to call back. I am sure a lot of DJ companies do that but it’s really not the best approach. At the reception, the DJ came up to us and said our playlist was “the best he had been given ALL YEAR,” but then went and played nothing from the list until there was 15 minutes to go. My husband and Best Man went up to him multiple times telling him to play the songs, but he would just say “for sure, after this next song!” and then play something that would literally drive everyone off the floor, and then play a song from our list. I don’t know if this was out of spite but it was very frustrating. He played a few songs that are on the radio right now, but mostly played a lot of really old songs geared towards the older crowd. I don't think he was very great at reading the room or else he would have tried switching up the music a little more considering not many people were dancing. And both me and my husband’s families like to dance and party. We have gone to weddings including his brothers where everyone was dancing so much including the older crowd and the dance floor was filled the whole time. At ours, we would sometimes have no one dancing or maybe 5-10 people but that was it. He was a great guy and super nice, but that doesn't really mean much when you are providing a service. Overall they are not worth the money they charge.

Nobody wanted to go to bed because the music was fantastic and our DJ's personality was the absolute perfect addition to our wedding. He was the perfect deejay, his presence was exactly what you would want at your wedding, no corny side remarks, and his ability to grab the attention of the crowd for first dances, bouquet toss, cake cutting and all that was amazing. On the day of you are so busy and forget you have things to do, and Al made it all seem so smooth and perfect!! We had calls with him before the wedding and I really felt like he cared about us and the wedding! He transitioned songs perfectly and followed every little note and detail I asked of him. I could not be happier with our decision, and I really think I have Al and Okne Medialab to thank for how much fun people had at our wedding. If you are having a hard time deciding your Deejay...look no further, these guys are AWESOME, you WILL NOT regret choosing this team!

We wanted a DJ who could keep our dance floor packed. We thought we were being picky and asking for the world, but Okyne Media delivered! We had the pleasure of having Randall DJ our wedding / reception and he was PERFECT! I had a very classy jazz/"rat pack" theme during the beginning of the reception and throughout the dinner, but once it was time to hit the dance floor, Randall performed a seamless, natural transition to more current dance songs (people of all ages are still telling us how much fun our reception was). I definitely recommend Okyne Media (especially Randall) because of their ability to listen to what you want and make it happen in the best way possible.

The dhol player - also recommended by Okyne Medialab - did an awesome job and didn't take a break, even when he was navigating three flights of stairs! Al did an outstanding job of incorporating the very specific dandia/raas music and could sense when we needed to switch up the bollywood music to get everyone on the dance floor. He even mixed in a special request for my niece and kept the party going until midnight. All of our guests were on the dance floor, which is a true testament to Al's ability to read the room, his extensive knowledge about us as a couple and our families, and his crazy special talent on the turntables. We didn't think it could get better on Saturday - until it did. Saturday was epic. Not only did Al artfully and gracefully mix together New Orleans bounce, 90's hip hop, & bollywood music, but he also picked the perfect song to accompany our photographer's slideshow, which made the slideshow so much more special. When our rowdy crowd began chanting "ONE LAST SONG" (which is the true sign of a good party), Al graciously played one more hit to close out the night. He worked seamlessly with our family and our wedding coordinator and helped us keep everything on schedule. It was clear through every moment of the weekend that he truly listened to everything we said and had a sense of who we were as a couple - which means more than you know. As my new husband said on Sunday morning, we would be much happier if Al could just DJ our life. Everyone is still talking about the epic dance party and our wedding weekend was so special because Okyne Medialab was a part of it. Thank you SO much for being a part of our wedding and helping us create such unforgettable memories. I truly hope that we have the good fortune to work with the Okyne team again - or at the very least, attend an event Al is DJ-ing!

en we booked with Al, we didn't know who our DJ was going to be, but Al and Stacy matched us up with the perfect DJ for our style and personalities. We had a couple unique/goofy music requests and when we explained them to DJ Matt during our pre-wedding planning meeting, he was on board and excited. He totally got us! We contracted for ceremony and reception service. The morning of the wedding, I contacted Matt to bring a certain kind of microphone for the ceremony and he did so without hesitation. After the ceremony, Matt was super helpful and very attentive to the bride and groom. When we got into the reception area, he immediately asked if I needed anything. As dancing started, our group was a little slow to the dance floor, but DJ Matt was able to get the crowd going after a couple songs. He communicated with us throughout the entire evening and helped make everything run smoothly. All we had to do was have fun and enjoy the day!

Our first encounters were with Al, the company owner, via Skype (since we were not living in the Chicago-land area). We chatted and he got a feel for what types of things we might like, our taste in music, and any other pertinent details. He then matched us up with our DJ who called a few days before the wedding--he really was the perfect fit for us. He managed the crowd, but was not overbearing, which was exactly what we asked for. We really had the best time, and the whole experience with Okney MediaLabs was easy going and stress free!

Our guests kept saying how awesome the playlist was! I danced the whole night and had a blast.

But I wouldn't have had it any other way! (We went to several weddings in the months following ours and NONE of their DJs even remotely compared. They were playing great dancing music during dinner, what's up with that?!) I would recommend Al, Dan & their team to anyone who asked and, if I could give them more stars I would! :)

It's nice to have Al, the owner, involved with the process. It's really nice that he is so dedicated to making sure everything goes well. They will make you feel very confident in your decision.

was actually going to happen at said time and place. After several days in the dark and debating about pursuing other avenues because of our pursuit of them the meeting was rescheduled. We met with some assistant like person at a Panera. I don't know if they have an agreement to use the restaurant as a meeting space without buying anything, but it was kinda strange to me for someone to be conducting business in a business that they didn't support by buying something. She was nice enough and the meeting went pretty well. During the meeting we asked SEVERAL times if the DJ would need a vendor meal to which we were told no the DJ would not need a vendor meal. Fast forward to the weekend before the wedding. We get an email saying our online stuff was due and that they wanted to schedule a final skype/ phone conference..... if you like face to face or telephone communications this is NOT the DJ company for you. When she didn't get a reply as fast as she wanted, she didn't call... nope no phone call... she sent an email on a regular work day... I think it was Monday or Tuesday and asked to do a phone or skype that day at like 10am. I replied that we couldn't and suggested a different time. She replied back and did not acknowledge my suggestion and scrapped the meeting just telling us to get our stuff in. Friday night before the wedding the DJ is calling us to got some details... hello it's the rehearsal dinner... we're a little busy. He should have called earlier in the week or even the day if he had questions. Wedding Day The DJ ATE A VENDOR MEAL... after repeatedly being told he didn't need one, I guess he thought otherwise. He also didn't honor some of the music we requested. My mom said he played for a young clubbing crowd, and my brother said that once those girls hit the floor he just got excited and forgot that it was your wedding. My mom had made a request for a slow song that was not honored and to my knowledge the entire night he played two slow songs and they were at the end of the night when most of the older people had left. I was horrified by some of the music choices although they weren't on the do not play list I would have thought the vulgar undertones to the songs would have been enough not to get them played, especially while the older crowd was still hanging strong. The pros- the DJ was nice and he did assist with a few things during the reception which was nice. If you like email communication and other tech forms of communication this company is right for you. If you want a club type atmosphere this is the right fit for you as well.

was comforting. Our dance floor was packed all night! I told him ahead of time that our friends and family tend to get a little wild at weddings and he catered to that. We gave him a very minimal Do not play list and a must play list and let him roll with that. HIs music selections were perfect and you can tell he knows what he's doing! He put me at ease all night and was very flexible with last minute changes. Our entire experience with Al and Stacy was wonderful. They know how to run a business and gave us one less thing to worry about. We loved our Video Chat meeting the week before the wedding as we would not have had time to drive somewhere to meet with them. Thank you Okyne!!

th DJ Matt's amazing musical talent. His piano pieces during our ceremony brought us to tears. The songs we chose were so important to us, and he nailed them. Also, we've gotten so many compliments about the reception music...even my Grandma had a fantastic time dancing. :) Matt went above and beyond to check in with us throughout the night. He made sure the entire event ran smoothly. We continue to get compliments from our family and friends on our wedding music, and the overall feel of the wedding. Thank you so much, Okyne! Okyne Media did the music from our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception, flawlessly transitioning between the different styles. They kept in touch with us throughout the night to make sure everything was going as planned, and adapted if we wanted to change anything last minute. And above all, the dance floor was ROCKIN! There were more people out there then I have seen at almost any other wedding. Oh, and forgot to mention, they are an AMAZING value in comparison to others in the Chicago area. LOVE OKYNE!

I e-mailed Stacy quite a bit with questions regarding up-lighting and adding extra services and her responses were almost immediate. I love the friendliness and professionalism of the company as a whole. We had Jonathan assigned to our wedding. A lovely Irish fella who was very eloquent throughout our wedding reception. He kept things running smoothly when we had an emergency situation occur with one of our guests. He played all of the best songs we requested plus some great ones of his own. The guest danced till they dropped, the tunes were pumping and I hope I have the opportunity to work with them again in the future. Well done Okyne!

were very serious about our music selection. We live in another state and they were able to do Skype meetings to make it easier. They even had an online tool for us to select from and make a timeline. Since we had a wedding planner, they worked directly with him as well.

DJ Erich was our rockstar for the night. He called me the day before the wedding to confirm details which I appreciated greatly especially since it was the 4th of July. He took the time out of his day to make sure we were ready for our big day the following day. He came over and told my now-husband and I how the music would kind of run throughout the night if we liked it and we LOVED IT. All our guests were out on the dance floor at one point or another which was fantastic to see. He read the crowd like a pro and we literally had to be kicked off the dance floor at the end of the night. We would've gone for hours more if we could have. Thanks for all the greatness your company brings Al! Guests are still complimenting everything about the music that night.

sic you like and don't like and make sure to keep that type of music in or out of your wedding. They also were able to find obscure music that we wanted in our big day and play it at the big moments in our day. They were very organized and kept everything running smoothly by making announcements for events when appropriate. They were great! The only thing that we wish they did was change a few songs that not a lot of people were dancing too. Other than that, we had no complaints! We got many compliments on our DJ Erich!

was ok (it was not really a song you would usually hear at a wedding). It was great he checked with us first then even gave the mic to the guest to use to sing. It was great! We heard all the song we added to our must play list and Alan did an awesome job of mixing songs together and even incorporating country, which I love! Overall this was a great DJ company and I would definitely suggest them to anyone looking for a not so typical wedding dj. Alan made it feel like more of a party than a usual wedding.
