Bridal Shower: Is a Bridal Shower Necessary for a Cohabiting Couple?

Q: If a couple has been living together for two years and has a child, a house, and two cars, is a wedding shower really necessary?

A: A couple like this may feel as though they already have all the home stuff they need. But there's no rule that says they can't register for wedding gifts or have a shower; the hostess(es) might plan a special theme shower based on their interests (maybe the two of them love cooking, wine, or travel) rather than on outfitting their home.
