If you want to get married outdoors, under the cover of beautiful trees, on the edge of a pond, surrounded by your closest friends and family, guess what: you don't have to drive 2 hours outside of Houston to get that. The Houston Arboretum is THE perfect backdrop for your elopements or small ceremonies and photographs beautifully.
Carol, the event coordinator, was absolutely wonderful and answered any and every question we had. The venue was beautiful and felt like we had entered a fairy tale. I couldn't recommend this venue enough
The Houston Arboretum is one of my absolute favorite places in the city. It only seemed natural to choose this beautiful location to marry my soulmate! I cannot recommend this location enough, whatever your preference may be, chances are they have a space for you. We had a small ceremony due to the pandemic and the star of our wedding day hands down was CAROL. I will never forget the hard work, perfect coordination and communication she had in working with us! She answered my texts when I had questions, worked like a champ with our vendors. Carol made our day shine like no other. We are so thankful to have had her on our team!
We got married on Saturday, December 12, 2020 in the afternoon on the Event Lawn. Carol made sure everything was set up properly and that my guests were comfortable. I had the absolute best service for my dream day! The price is very affordable and the venue is real nice.
Getting married at the Arboretum (Lily Pond) this past weekend was an actual dream. We needed an outdoor venue due to covid-19, and we had less than 30 guests, spaced apart.
Carol handles EVERYTHING with precision (basically a superwoman)--the staff was incredibly helpful + efficient, and the reserved parking made things simple for our guests.
I was unsure if my "arch" idea was going to work out, but Carol was so supportive and give me a lot of tips, it was gorgeous. Also, it's SO AFFORDABLE! Don't hesitate to book the Arb for your wedding!
I got married here last week ! I loved it. The chairs provided are very nice , the lily pond is beyond beautiful, we can take pictures all around , all together I would recommend anyone who’s thinking of getting married here to do it. 😊
We held our ceremony at the Lily Pond, and it was absolutely beautiful! Perfectly sized for a 75-100 person wedding, with gorgeous flora and fauna in early March (and throughout the spring). We had a giant bullfrog and a snake hanging out in the pond behind us during the ceremony, which was amazing! Working with Carol was wonderful- she was patient when we sent her a million questions, worked with us to ensure guests' parking was paid in advance, helped advise us during our rehearsal, and managed setup and teardown seamlessly.
One thing that caused issues for us is the ongoing construction, which was scheduled to be done in January 2020 but ended up being ongoing in early March. The Lily Pond was still beautiful, but the indoor space we were promised in the event of rain was unavailable, and there was no electricity that could run out to the Lily Pond area for music. Carol was a great advocate in that situation and ensured we were treated fairly, but I would be sure to ask about the status of the construction and an indoor space when you're planning your event.
Otherwise, gorgeous place, great cause to support, wonderful staff, and reasonable price. It was a lovely backdrop for our wedding!
The pond was such a beautiful backdrop for our special day and the staff and Carol were great!
I knew that I wanted a small (about 50 people) outdoor wedding, but I had a really hard time finding a venue to fit these needs. Most venues were great, but I wouldn't be utilizing all of the space and I didn't want to pay such a high price tag. I first met with Carol (who is AMAZING) to walk around the Arboretum and look at some locations where the ceremony would take place. She described how many people could fit and the price points of each (which were all extremely reasonable). I fell in love with all the trees at the Arboretum and how cozy it felt. I knew I had to get married there! During the day of the wedding, Carol was perfect at getting everyone ready to go and starting the processional. I am so grateful for all of her help both on the day of the wedding and the months preceding. She answered any questions I had and helped with any problems I ran into. During the wedding, they used a golf cart to transport me from where I was getting ready to the ceremony site, so my dress did not get dirty. I was worried about it being too hot, as it was August in Houston which is a bit yikes, but with the shade from the trees, it really was not that bad at all! The wedding went so smoothly and the pictures all came out so beautifully! I am so so happy that I decided to have my wedding at the Arboretum!
I just got married here a few weeks ago. We had our ceremony by the lily pond and it was beautiful! We only did the ceremony here and it was very reasonably priced. Added bonus: all proceeds from our ceremony went straight back to the Arboretum as a donation! Carol, the wedding and rental manager, was great to work with. When our guests got lost trying to find the ceremony site, Carol picked them up in her car and drove them to the right place! All in all it was a great experience!
We had our wedding in early December and the Arboretum was beautiful with perfectly cool weather! Carol was wonderful to work with and responded quickly to my many, many annoying questions. Having our wedding here was so easy - they took care of all the setup and tear down and all we had to do was show up!
Carol is honestly such a pleasure to work with. She was always so helpful and quick to respond to any questions/concerns I had. We had an intimate ceremony at the Arboretum and everyone complemented how beautiful the ceremony location was - many people had no idea weddings could be held there. I am so grateful to Carol for all her help throughout the entire process. If you are looking for a unique venue to hold your wedding, I would highly recommend the Houston Arboretum and Nature Center. It's a beautiful location in the memorial area and they offer a few locations within the Arboretum to hold outdoor/indoor weddings.
This is the most affordable wedding venue in Houston, And I bet we would not have had a better experience anywhere else. The place was beautiful, Carol was amazing and always diligent with her job and her communication with us, the people that helped us to clean and close the party was incredible. Carol even gave us some vendors names for the stuff we didn't have covered yet. So happy we went to this beautiful place and have the night of our dreams! We both had a great time, and I was honestly not worried about anything with such amazing vendors I had. Thank you so much, Carol and Team!
My husband and I had our ceremony here on December 3rd, 2016, and it was an absolute dream. Our ceremony was held at the Lily Pond, and it stopped raining for long enough to have our little ceremony and outdoor photos! Carol the Coordinator and the Arboretum staff were so on top of it, and our experience with them is stellar. Carol is such an awesome woman, and entirely organized! We loved working with her. If you're searching for an outdoor ceremony in the center of town, this is the place!!
My wife and I got married here in August 2016. We ended up having our ceremony and reception here, which I dont think most couples do. Overall, we had a very pleasant experience with the venue and Carol. The only problem we ran into is that there was a school program before our ceremony which ended at 5pm and our ceremony was at 7pm. Originally we were told we could get there at 4pm to set up but actually did not start setting up until 5:15/5:30. Luckily we had a group of friends who were able to set everything up for us and it ended up not being a problem. This was a very affordable venue and we were excited that our wedding money went towards a program for under privileged kids. Everyone loved how unique the venue was and the pictures turned out stunning with the backdrops of trees. Only advice I have is to have a solid clean up plan. You are responsible for cleaning up after yourself and getting out on time. We had paper cut outs on the tables for decoration that had fallen onto the floor and were asked to pick them up individually. As long as you are prepared to do set up and clean up yourself, it is a fantastic venue.
We had a beautiful, intimate wedding at the Arboretum. They were helpful from start to finish and put my mind at ease more than once. I would highly recommend the Arboretum as a venue. It had everything I could have asked for and the staff was helpful and fun to work with.
The only reason they're getting 4 out of 5 from me is because they didn't tell me until I arrived for my wedding that there were three other weddings going on that day and as a result they didn't have a dressing room like they'd promised me before. They also kept sending my guests to the wrong wedding. Other than that I absolutely loved it here.
This venue turned out to be a diamond in the rough.
We had a small budget and 100 guests but received VIP treatment.
We had our wedding ceremony on a wooden deck, overlooking a pond. The backdrop of trees and sunshine, provided a magical setting for our photos. The venue allowed us to bring in our own vendors, which cut costs considerably.
Everyone complimented us on how great the venue catered to our size reception. Some guests who had lived in Houston for decades, admitted they never knew such a 'beautiful place' existed.
Thank you to all at the Houston Arboretum who made our wedding day extra special.
This is the PERFECT wedding venue for someone on a budget. The price was the lowest we found anywhere, but the service was the best we ever got. Carol Taylor and her staff went above and beyond to meet our needs, even making changes to our layout on the day of. The venue is so beautiful that we didn't need to spend money on flowers or decorations. We were also able to bring our own caterer and our own drinks. This cut down on the cost and allowed us to have our wedding way under our budget.
I feel sooo lucky that we found the Houston Arboretum and Carol.
