What You Should Know
When you want your wedding to take place in a historic and prestigious holy venue, the Catholic Shrine of the Immaculate Conception is a natural choice. The clergy reaches out to couples wishing to marry in this church to offer assistance. You will receive premarital counseling and liturgical planning from priests and deacons before you can proceed with your wedding ceremony. The clergy also assists you with completing the necessary documentation.
Your wedding can take place at 2 p.m., 5 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. on Saturdays and at 3 p.m. or 6 p.m. on Sundays. You will have access to the church one hour before your ceremony and for 30 minutes after the ceremony. The church recommends against receiving lines due to the time constraint.
The Minister of Music will consult with you to help you select music for the pipe organ during your ceremony. The pipe organ is the only source of music available, as the church does not have an audio playback system.
The church prohibits moving the altar, the baptismal font or the ambo for your ceremony. The church does not allow rice, birdseed, bubbles or confetti in any areas of the building. The management discourages the use of an aisle runner. If you use flower petals during your ceremony, you must clean them completely after the event. You must also leave any seasonal church decor in place.
Prior consultation is suggested for approval of all floral arrangements. You may place floral arrangements behind the altar, in front of the altar, in front of the pulpit, circling the baptismal font and on the pews. You may not place any decorations or flowers on the altar itself. You can have your flowers delivered one hour before the start of your wedding.
No flash photography is allowed during ceremonies. Your photographer and videographer should consult with the staff prior to your ceremony to understand the guidelines. Photographs and video can be taken from the back of the church, from outside the sanctuary or from the balcony. Parking is available in the Underground Atlanta parking lot.
Your once-in-a-lifetime wedding ceremony will come alive with classic elegance when you exchange your vows in the Catholic Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. You may choose a separate reception site near the shrine for ease and convenience.
