Had our daughter's wedding here this weekend. Everything was perfect. The staff was wonderful and so helpful! I 1000% recommend this venue!
This is morning like whispering nightmares!
Venue is completely beautiful
The owner however is not.
The water does not work. There is a large delay.
They also hate fun.
When I got married here, there was only one bad review, so I took a chance on it. DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE!!! Especially while Brenda Inches is the owner.
It is a beautiful setting, but the drama and that comes afterwards is mind blowing. The contract is totally destroyed by the end of your wedding day.
The venue is absolutely perfect and the people running it are amazing and caring. Their wedding planner is very thorough and works with the bride to make your vision come true. Would recommend this as a wedding destination for anyone wanting a barn wedding.
The venue itself is beautiful. The owner Brenda is rude and unaccommodating. The wedding coordinator told us this was her last wedding because she was done dealing with everything. Debbie wasn't the most pleasant person either. The toilets stopped working for over an hour during the reception. There was no running water to wash your hands either during that time. No apologies were made. Brenda said we couldn't come back until 3pm on Sunday to get our decorations. She's just overall rude. Thankfully her husband said he would unlock everything so we could get our stuff. Definitely not what you would except from a wedding coordinator or owner. The officiant and the photographer both made comments about how rude they were. Not the experience we expected.
No stars, if I could, due to the rudeness of the owner Brenda and coordinator Debbie. Our daughter’s wedding was held here and they did their best to ruin it. They were too busy trying to control everything instead of making sure the bathrooms worked properly so the mother of the groom didn’t have to plunge the toilets in the middle of the reception. Brenda took a beer right out of the guest’s hand telling him he couldn’t have two. When the guest explained that one was for the groom, she told him to “have the groom get it himself”. This was BEFORE the bar was officially closed. Brenda had words with me, the mother of the bride about not wanting to remove the tulle from the cookie table because it wasn’t time. She told guests they couldn’t have cookies until 8:00 and dinner was at 6:00. WE never set a time so why was she even involved. Our cookies, our tulle, our event!!! She was seen packing up food for herself and eating our food all throughout the event. I’m all for sharing, but keeping the cookies she likes instead of putting them out is pathetic. I warned the caterer that she would try and do this with the dinner and he and I arranged to have the food packed up and donated after dinner was served. Brenda had words with him telling him she wanted to go containers set out (like she used and hid in the kitchen for rehearsal dinner.) We have pictures!! I can go on and on but I think you get the point. They can be nice at times but that has usually been before they received their checks.
I attending a wedding at Whispering Dreams at Star Lake Farm a few months ago. The property is absolutely amazing! The ceremony was held in front of a beautiful pond and the reception was located in the spacious barn. All members of the staff were wonderful and made sure everything ran smoothly. Another one of my friends booked Whispering Dreams for 2022! She already signed a contract and the staff has been very helpful and accommodating throughout the entire process. I can't wait to attend another wedding at this lovely venue!
I was the first wedding at Whispering Dreams:
Leading up to the wedding, Brenda - the owner, was very kind and cooperative with me, as I was planning my wedding from out of state. She insisted on having no contract, that everything would be easygoing - that should have been my first sign - but I went onward.
The day of the wedding was beautiful. Her farm is beautiful, she had allowed me to come decorate the barn the day before and everything was perfect.
I didn’t learn until a few days after the wedding, that apparently my ten year old cousin was throwing rocks in the field to see how far he could throw (he stopped when he was told, he is just a kid, and my mother picked up the rocks) however Brenda did not that think was adequate, she apparently smacked the ten year old. When my god father approached her about it, she threw water on him in his suit. I had a stressful week - I let it go.
A week went by and my photographer had messaged me asking me if Brenda was allowed to use the photos she took for publicity reasons - after everything that happened, I said no. Screen shots of these photos later appeared on my timeline from Brenda. I decided to vaguely post to my own timeline that I was uncomfortable with other people sharing my photos - not mentioning anybody by name. Brenda privately messaged me and told me that she "thought it was understood that she could use my pictures.” I didn’t reply, again, I let it go.
Tonight, Brenda messaged me asking to review her venue. I messaged her back about the events that had transpired and about photos - she told me that she was “sorry I felt that way," denied hitting the kid (multiple guests witnessed it), and denied posting my photographer's photos (they were still blatantly on her timeline).
So my review of the venue: it is beautiful; however, the venue owner: hit a child during my reception, threw water at my guests, stole my photographers photos without permission, and was just overall rude and disrespectful as soon as the check cleared.
