Myself and my associate photographers have photographed weddings at this venue on three separate occasions, and I really love it for several reasons.
First, it's just beautiful and the options for gorgeous photos are unending between the four buildings on property and the vast outdoors with fields, woods, the river, and the long winding driveway/road. I'd be happy to share a full gallery with anyone of this location.
Another huge advantage of having a wedding here is that everything is onsite. Getting ready, ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. Being able to do all of that at one location helps wedding days go so much smoother than having to travel between locations with a bridal party and trying to coordinate vendors to show up at different locations.
And I've found the venue owner Karen to be a real sweet heart in hospitality on the weddings I've photographed there. Personally I'd love to shoot here again and again. When couples and even friends of mine who get engage ask me for venue recommendations I always mention Yarborough Mill. ~ Chris Jones, Sowing Clover Photography
If you are looking for a elegant rustic venue this is the venue for you. Our wedding day was simply magical. Karen is professional and easy to work with. I would not have changed anything about our wedding day.
Yarborough Mill was PERFECT for the rustic, laid back vibe my husband and I were going for. The whole property is gorgeous. Our 2 November wedding was a perfect fall wedding. It got cold when the sun went down, but Karen and Emmie had heaters for us inside the Mill and outside. Emmie, the coordinator, was so kind and detailed and a pleasure to work with in planning the big day. She worked through little details that we hadn’t even thought of! The venue has no cell service at all if you have T-Mobile which wasn’t an issue for us, but could be frustrating if you haven’t planned everything before you arrive. We are absolutely thrilled with our wedding weekend at Yarborough Mill.
This venue was a dream come true! We still cannot get over how perfect the entire property was for our wedding! Karen is a great person to work with and she's so accommodating and friendly! Every single one of our guests loved it and raved about how beautiful it was. When we first visited, it was a cold and rainy day and we still fell in love!
We would recommend this place to everyone because of how unique it is, the shuttle service that knows the area well, and the ability to stay in the guest cottage over night.
Had a wonderful wedding experience at Yarborough Mill. The venue was able to easily accommodate our group of 115 people, and constant complements came pouring our way saying how beautiful the location was. An excellent, private option out in the woods if you want to have an outdoor wedding- a beautiful location with a perfect alternative if it does end up raining. The mill itself can accommodate both the reception and ceremony if necessary, getting rid of the need to provide a less attractive plastic bag (tent) to get married in in the case of rain. Karen was responsive and accommodating to our needs, and we ended up with a stress free and relaxing experience. The only cautions I may offer to those that are attending is that people consistently got lost on the way to the venue, and our rehearsal dinner (held at venue) ended up being VERY buggy and muggy (in part because of the weather that day, in part because you’re in the woods next to a somewhat slow creek). If you can deal with those factors, I would absolutely suggest this beautiful location. I hated to leave!
From the Bride: We were entirely pleased with every aspect of Yarborough Mill from first tour through to the wedding day. Our April wedding saw the freshly bloomed best of the grounds and we found that holding our celebration on the expanse of this intricately restored historic site felt somewhat like reliving history. Yarborough has a natural pairing of rustic and elegant structures that suited our simple, classy, nature-loving wedding.
Karen was a pleasure to work with in every regard, accommodating and versatile for individual preferences.
We chose to have our ceremony on the lawn overlooking the creek rather than under the pavilion and the seating allows for complete flexibility for ceremony arrangement. Our ceremony was blessed with a sudden downpour that sent everyone for the cover of the pavilion and Mill.
Our day-of coordinator became positively essential once the rain hit, so we recommend arranging an experienced lead for the chance of unforeseen changes (like a stray storm cloud).
Our caterers (two coordinators and three servers) worked well in the general store preparing hot and cold appetizers and main entree for 100 guests, even without the use of a warmer.
Our photographer had some difficulty setting the proper ISO for the low-light (mainly string lights) setting of the Mill reception hall, so we highly recommend communicating with your photographer on their use of an external flash, perhaps even a tripod. But the natural light backdrop of the grounds is optimal from pretty much every angle.
The Llops have restored Yarborough Mill to pristine authenticity, bringing out the character of the site, and leaving you the simple freedom of dressing it up with your own color and enjoying the serenity!
From the Groom: From the beginning, Karen was easy to work with, communicative, and clear in her expectations (which are very reasonable). She is kind and generous with her venue, and we are very appreciative that she went through years of revitalizing this mill for such occasions as our wedding! Having someone who is easy to work with is essential, and Karen fits the bill.
The Venue itself is stunning. Don't waste your money buying decor because this place doesn't need any. A part of me hates to share the news about this place because I want to treat it as 'our' venue; however, I have to because I would be hoarding such a wonderful place for myself. I recommend this venue when ever the occasion arises, and I am so thankful for the gift it has been in our lives. Thank you again, Karen. I look forward to future walks at your venue site.
Yarborough Mill is an absolutely beautiful wedding venue. However, I would be hesitant to recommend this venue. Make sure to get everything you request in writing. We were not allowed into the bridal suite early (although the owner had agreed to this beforehand) because the owner was giving tours of the venue to other people. I thought this was very unprofessional. The bridesmaids and groomsmen all had to get ready in the same location. It was very stressful. While I did not let this ruin my perfect wedding day, I just wanted other brides to be aware so they can avoid a similar situation from occurring.
I had the pleasure of getting married at Yarborough Mill on the 13th of May, 2017. I must say that the venue is magical. Even though I waited until age 36 to marry, I had no 'vision board' or list of 'must haves' when it came time to look for a venue. We searched countless options online, which is overwhelming to say the least, but only went to see 4 locations. As soon as my husband and I met Karen and walked the property we knew this is where we wanted to get married. There is a feeling and presence that the property offers, that you just cant find elsewhere. I would encourage those who are looking for venues to make the trip to the property and you will see what I am talking about. Karen offers a great list of vendors and support throughout the wedding planning process. One of the things I appreciated about the venue is that it offers a beautiful backdrop, regardless of the style you are going for. You can dress it up if you like, or keep things 'as is', and will still end up with a beautiful event space. My husband and I went for a rustic/vintage/romantic theme and loved that we were able to add our own touches. If you are looking for a unique venue that offers rustic authenticity coupled with nature, and the ability to 'make it your own' then Yarborough Mill is your place. LOVED the venue, and LOVED working with Karen. Good luck and happy hunting!
My wife and I are writing this post as parents of a bride who was married at Yarborough Mill on May 13, 2017. Our experience was near-perfect.
First of all, the setting is absolutely beautiful. The owner (Karen) is a pleasure to work with. She is personable and accommodating, and she truly wanted for everyone to have the best wedding experience possible. She offered suggestions and provided a list of recommended vendors.
Our daughter and some of her friends spent the night before the wedding in a guest house on the property, and it was there the next morning that a cosmetician did her hair and make-up. Some friends and family members spent the night of the wedding in that house.
On the wedding day our daughter dressed in Karen’s beautiful Victorian home, where her family and close friends visited her before the ceremony. It was from the steps of this home that I (Dad) walked her down to the field by a river that was set up with benches for the wedding ceremony.
The reception was in the mill, where a band played from the stage. There was plenty of room for dancing, as there was extra space available because tables were set up outside under a tent.
Our daughter and her husband spent their first night together in the honeymoon suite – a rustic-but-charming loft on the 2nd floor of the barn.
We wholeheartedly give “five stars” to Yarborough Mill. They made a dream come true for our daughter and son-in-law.
Gorgeous outdoor/barn venue, very nice people to work with and in our budget. They provided a golf cart and driver to drive around grandma. It was exactly the setting I was looking for. The inside of the house is romantic and authentically decorated. The setting inside and out made my pictures look like they came from a bridal magazine. We stayed in the honeymoon sweet in the loft of the old stables, which came included. It felt like staying in a giant treehouse and again beautifully decorated plus it was magical to watch the sun come in through the wood slats in the morning. Some things to consider about this venue which were less than optimal: it's in the country (not super easy to get to), no hairspray allowed in the bridal sweet (to protect the antiques), no sparkles allowed, no AC in the barn/reception area.
From the first day we drove up to Yarborough Mill and met with Karen, my partner and I knew it was the perfect place to get married! Complete with a winding driveway along a creek, a hayloft that doubles as a honeymoon suite, and the picture-perfect grist mill barn that fits over 100 guests complete with an elevated stage, the entire property is a hidden gem in the Calhoun/Fairmount GA area. Karen is a fantastic hostess and made us feel very accommodating during our wedding weekend of Halloween 2015. If you're looking for a rustic, picturesque, and LGBT-friendly venue in north Georgia, you found the right place.
An amazing venue! It's so pretty itself you don't need tons of decorations which I loved I am a simple kind of girl. Only thing I would do is make sure you have a wedding planner and someone to clean up.
This venue is family owned and operated and absolutely gorgeous! This venue is perfect if you are looking for a rustic venue near Atlanta, Georgia. It is located about 1 hour north of Atlanta and there is a variety of hotels nearby.
This venue has a Mill, Barn, and old Victorian house located on a stream. The attic of the Barn has a gorgeous honeymoon suite that opens up to the scenic property.
This venue allows you to bring your own caterer and and alcohol and is great for a DIY bride.
Our ceremony was outside by the stream and our reception was in the Mill. It was a perfect day and we are so happy that we choose Yarborough Mill. All of our guest loved it and complimented the beauty of the grounds.
Karen Llop provided the magical experience in an effortless manner. She is very accommodating and the bride, my daughter, was very happy with the experience. Karen was responsive and professional in every aspect of her offerings. She will do everything to make your event more than you would expect. Yarborough Mill is an authentic mill with a stream, main beautiful Victorian home, guest house, barn, fields and more. Visit her and you will be ready and willing to host a wedding, corporate event, family reunion or church gathering.
I cannot count the amount of compliments we have received from guests on our venue and they only solidified the way my husband and I feel. We searched high and low for the perfect combination of rustic and elegance and we found it in Yarborough Mill.
Beyond the beauty of it all was the execution of the event. Our wedding coordinator handled every detail and was quick to respond to all of the emails we exchanged back and forth. They were extremely flexible and so nice to work with. The day went so smoothly and even though we didn't have a rehearsal, it didn't seem to matter. Everyone knew what was going on and everything was better than I could have hoped for. I often felt like we were the only wedding they were coordinating because of the attention we received.
The entire staff was wonderful, as well. Every detail was handled with the utmost professionalism and precision. For instance, we brought our decorations in the day before our wedding and when we arrived on the wedding day everything was displayed to perfection.
Choosing Yarborough Mill was one of the best decisions we made during the entire wedding planning process!
After working in wedding photography for a few years and seeing a lot of stressed out brides, I never wanted a wedding. I live in Colorado now but grew up in the south. I visited my aunt, who owns Yarborough Mill, on a trip home. I had spent a few childhood moments there: running across the grounds, riding horses, exploring sun soaked fields of grass, wading into the creek with my cousins on hot days. After my visit, feeling like I had been on vacation in The Secret Garden, I started to picture the wedding I never wanted there.
All this to say, Yarborough Mill is not trying to be a "cute farm" to appeal to wedding trends of our generation. Yarborough Mill is a magical place owned by a real family who has poured years of love into creating something genuine, refined, warm & heartfelt. Each building has a deep history and has maintained it's structural integrity and beauty. It is authentic beyond words. If I was going to get married anywhere, if at all, it was going to be Yarborough Mill only.
I had a rare moment alone after our ceremony which was held under the pavilion my uncle built. I was up on the hill by the victorian house, looking down onto our 150 guests drinking from mason jars & sitting on hay bales covered with quilts, the smell of BBQ, twinkle lights, young cousins chasing fireflies and blowing bubbles, Blues music & laughter coming out from the Mill, and I knew with the help of my aunt (and many others), we had created something magical & irreplaceable & as all brides claim, absolutely perfect.
I know that everyone in our lives tell us that our wedding was the best wedding they've ever been too, but after a year of hearing our guests tell us this all the time, I really believe them. I attribute this entirely to Yarborough Mill being the perfect setting to celebrate a love that has lasted 10 years. My husband and I never thought we'd find anywhere that really "fit us".
While this setting could suite any couple type and hold up your vision and preferred aesthetic, we wanted laid back with hand-made details, home-grown food, fire pits, barns and sunset dancing. This place allowed us to make that happen. I wanted to share everything Ive known was magical about the place since I was a kid, with everyone we love, and when we did, it was perfect.
