Maid of Honor: Can I Have a Man of Honor Instead?

Q: I absolutely adore one of my friends and must include this person in my wedding party. I want this person to stand on the bride's side. The problem: he's male. What do I do?

A: This is not a problem at all. Lots of couples are asking close friends of the opposite sex to be their attendants. If you want him to be your honor attendant, you can call him the man of honor. If you want him to stand with the bridesmaids, you can call him a bridesman. Your guy should wear whatever the groomsmen are wearing. Also, let your photographer know that he should be photographed as one of your attendants in group wedding party pictures.
