Wedding Food & Drink: Pros & Cons of a Buffet Reception Meal?
I've heard that a buffet is the way to go for the wedding reception dinner. What are the pros and cons?
The best reason to have a wedding reception buffet is that it offers your guests a full meal with the benefit of them being able to choose which foods to eat. Although you might save money on waitstaff (since guests serve themselves), having a buffet is not always less expensive than sit-down service, as you'll need to order more food than you would otherwise. You may also have to rent buffet service equipment. If you do opt for a buffet, you'll want a wedding reception manager to carefully monitor the food as it is served. You could also choose to have a T-shaped buffet, so that the line splits and goes into separate directions (to help with traffic through the line). And if you have a large number of people, you may want to consider having two separate buffet lines, to help the line move quickly.
