Though only open for about 5 years, this is a great place for an intimate wedding. We only had about 70 guests, so could hold the ceremony under the skylight (natural light without the natural rain/wind of March) and the reception with dancing in the ballroom. The Ballroom is drab, but they assist in sprucing it up with uplighting. Highly recommend the uplighting. They were also really good about using out outside vendor. The drinks had to be through them, bu the dishes/food (kosher) worked through another vendor. Communication was easy, with a fairly rapid response on the many emails I sent. Highly recommend.
Wedding Reception - 9/17/11Reviewed on 11/01/2011 Kristy N
Our expectations were exceeded for our wedding at the Fairmont Battery Wharf (FBW). It is a beautiful venue to begin with which is the reason we chose the FBW to host our wedding reception, however once all the special wedding touches were added (to name just a few - the gorgeous linens and china/glassware, bar display/set up, use of AV equipment and modern cake display) it was truly stunning!! Ashley Lamy, Catering & Conference Services Manager. was wonderful to work with and a great resource to bounce ideas off of. She was professional and patient throughout the entire wedding planning process. as well as on the day of our wedding. During the planning phase, it was easier for me to correspond via email rather than phone. Ashley accommodated my preference and responded to my many, many emails all on a very timely basis. The day of the wedding, there were some concerns with the cocktail hour being outside near the waterfront as it was chilly and a bit windy. Ashley could have just set up everything outside as planned, however she was more thoughtful about this decision and found my mother in the hotel (we - the bride and groom - were taking pictures elsewhere) to get her input on moving the cocktail hour location. In the end, so that our guests would be more comfortable, the cocktail hour was half inside - in the Maritime Museum - and half outside. It was perfect! The food was amazing and cooked to perfection. Our guests are still raving about the appetizers during cocktail hour! Lastly, we took advantage of the Fairmont's Platinium Wedding program and were able to use the gift card we got at the Fairmont hotel we stayed at during our honeymoon! We will always be thankful for all those who assisted with our wedding at the FBW and helped to make it an amazing experience overall. We highly recommend the FBW as a wedding reception venue!
Wedding - August 2011Reviewed on 9/06/2011 Kimberly R
The Farimont and their staff were absolutely exceptional for our August wedding. We could not have asked for more detail-oriented, attentive, beautifully kept and accomodating venue. Ashley handled most of our wedding details and was willing to work with us through every twist and turn of the wedding planning process. Our guests are still talking about the wedding and how beautiful it was. We would host our wedding at the Fairmont again within a heartbeat. There is something to be said about a venue that puts you at ease and gives you the overall feeling of reassurance and treats you like a visiting celebrity. The only note of caution we would have for this venue is the prices. It is a very upscale venue so the price per head is high and there can be a lot of added fees as well. However, what we recieved in return was a flawless event that we wished never ended.
Top Notch Service/Food. Amazing Wedding!Reviewed on 9/11/2014 Aliza C
I loved having my wedding at the Fairmont Battery Wharf. When we initially signed our contract, we were working with a different planner, and then Kristina McSharry came aboard. I cannot express how lucky we are to have gotten a chance to work with her. From the day she came on, she was extremely sweet, organized, and professional. She dealt with our silly families, and went out of her way to make everyone as comfortable as possible. She realized some of our budget constraints/concerns and helped us alleviate all of them. She provided us with the best customer service before, during and after the event. She even realized how stressed I was before the rehearsal and had a glass of white wine at the ready for me when I got to the lobby...now THAT is a girl who knows how to really help her brides! :) Even 4 months later, she and I still keep in contact, so you just know she genuinely enjoys working with her clients! The food was absolutely amazing. We had our tasting a little early, and loved everything. We got some delicious appetizers, and the steak/chicken options we gave our guests were perfectly prepared. I didn't hear one negative thing about it. With Kristina and the staff's help, they also located a liqueur that is not common and helped us design a signature cocktail. The venue is as beautiful as it looks in all the pictures. We had our ceremony on the side of the hotel nearest the coast guard, instead of where they usually have it, and although it required a little more walking, with a guest list made up of 125 people, I was happy with our choice of space. The only real negative was I think since I was so unorganized with the wedding, I could have used a little bit of help from a professional wedding planner, but I was so happy with the event in general. Also--the ballroom was a little bit hot before the reception, but once we asked to turn the AC up all was good!
