Zingerman’s Roadhouse

I'm a little biased in reviewing Zingerman's because I am a die hard fan. Which is ultimately why we chose them to be our wedding caterer. My husband and I valued food and music above all else. We both work in the food industry, so we knew that we had to have top notch, delicious food as a priority for our wedding. We were not disappointed in any way. The Roadhouse staff worked with us to ensure that we had a menu that worked for us, both in terms of being seasonal, locally sourced, full of healthy options and on price. We had to work a little bit at the price, but we finally got it to a point where we were satisfied. They were flexible in allowing us to cut corners, which helped us get the cost down. For instance, they allowed us to bring in a number of our own appetizers, so long as they were labeled and kept separate. The menu was Americana themed and a wonderful departure from typical wedding food. Here's a sampling: Farro piccolo risotto, macaroni and cheese, tomato bread salad, blue cheese and bibb salad, BBQ beef, Zingerman's bakehouse rolls. We had numerous guests tell us it was the best wedding food they had ever had, and a number more tell us that it was an exceptional meal (not compared with wedding food - which I think may have a lower standard.) The Roadhouse even went so far as to make sure that we could source a number of our produce items from a farming friend, who already sold to them. This was an extra step for them, but one that made us feel great about the food that we were eating and serving to our guests. Lastly, I'll comment on the service. We worked primarily with one representative from the roadhouse who was fabulous. I know that she was crazy busy throughout the whole summer, but she never let on. She had reasonable response times to my correspondence and was willing to work with our requests for locally sourced, lower prices, and lack of venue amenities. She was a good communicator and always made me feel comfortable about what service they would be providing. She even accommodated our request for Paw Paw gelato, which was above and beyond! The service staff on the night of were also delightful. I saw that they were very helpful to our guests and extremely personable. Zingerman's has a great reputation for service from their employees and they certainly upheld it at our event. I would say that their prices are going to be higher than you can find elsewhere, but in our opinion, it was worth every dollar. We appreciated knowing that we would be well taken care of and that the food would be excellent. Both were true.
