Hamilton’s Jordan Fisher Is Engaged to Ellie Woods: See the Proposal Video
Hear that sound of hearts breaking everywhere? It’s because Jordan Fisher is getting married. The Hamilton star and Dancing With the Stars winner is officially off the market and engaged to his longtime love, Ellie Woods.
Fisher, 25, announced the news on Tuesday, May 28, via Instagram. “5/20/19 - I asked my best friend a question...and she said yes,” he wrote on Instagram alongside a video from the sweet proposal moment. “I love you so much, Ellie Woods. Can’t wait to make you my wife MY WIFE.”
Immediately, the couple experienced an outpouring of fan support and congratulatory remarks from cast members of ABC’s smash dance reality series. (Fisher won his season of DWTS and replaced Anthony Ramos--who's also engaged!--on the Broadway smash musical.)
“I AM SO SO SO SO HAPPY FOR YOU GUYS!!!” Lindsay Arnold wrote. “AHHHHHH !!!!!”
Witney Carson, also of DWTS, added: “SO happy for you guys!!!!! yayayayay CONGRATS!!!!”
Val Chmerkovskiy, who is engaged to Jenna Johnson, chimed in with a heartfelt note under the comments section. “THIS IS THE BEST!!!!! Aww my brother congratulations from the bottom of my heart. Enjoy the best chapter thus far in your beautiful life,” he added. “Wishing you both a lifetime of health and happiness! Enjoy J ♥️?? so happy and proud of you.”
Modern Family and fellow ABC network personality Sarah Hyland chimed in, “I CAN NOT STOP CRYING!!!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS YOU TWO!!!!!!! I LOVE LOVE!!!!” while Lana Condor wrote: “JORDANNNNNNNNNN CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! I am beyond thrilled for you two.”
The couple told People that Fisher proposed at the beach house of Woods’s parents in their hometown of Birmingham, Alabama, just a week ago. “It’s a really special place for us, and when we started to pull into the neighborhood he was just going on about how we’ve been friends for so long, and I wasn’t really picking up on it,” Woods noted. “Then we pulled into my parents’ house and I was like, ‘What is that?’ We stopped, got out of the car and Jordan walked me to our backyard where there’s a little deck over the pond.”
They first met when they were 13 and were best friends initially before their relationship turned romantic into adulthood. Fisher carefully planned the proposal for two months. “It was the biggest surprise of my life!” Woods said of the moment. “I’m a very hard person to surprise so the fact that he pulled it off, kudos to you, babe.”
