Taking me away for maybe 10 seconds, she professionally let me know who was taking over for her the rest of the night, and everything went so smoothly. She is organized, incredibly knowledgeable, gives great suggestions, and works so professionally. Rachel's organization and work made our wedding the night of our dreams. In addition, my parents, who paid for the wedding, had a lot of questions for her, especially regarding money, and logistics. Rachel answered every single email they sent with information, patience, and kindness. She is truly skilled at her job, and I would do it all again with her. In addition, the VMFA was such an easy place to get married. They take over set up and tear down, hold on to your items after the wedding, and give you plenty of time to pick it up. The staff hired the night of our wedding we're professional, fun, and incredibly hard working. Our wedding felt so smooth because I didn't have to do anything. The marble hall was absolutely gorgeous, and I highly recommend it. One small downside was that dropped drinks, in the bar's glasses instantly shatter on marble. However, the staff quickly cleaned it up, and the party was back on.

and zones in the Marble Hall. She is an event-planning master mind, and our wedding went off without a hitch. The employees staffing our wedding were kind and helpful... and the food was incredible! It's the VMFA's policy not to do tastings, which we were worried about, but don't be! Our guests were raving about the food, and somehow everyone's steak was cooked perfectly. Also, Michelle was so organized and honest that we ended up receiving a refund after our wedding (based on our group's alcohol consumption surprisingly being below her estimate). I highly recommend the VMFA and Michelle!

ering the VMFA provides (no outside caterers are allowed), but their food was awesome, and we got lots of compliments on it afterwards (especially the mashed potato bar!). They provide almost everything you need from a venue: catering, servers, security, bar tenders, chairs/tables, linens, tableware, etc. The only things which were separate costs were the food, the servers, and the bar staff/drinks (and you have to purchase a membership with the museum, but that cost is minimal, all things considered). All in all, it is a very good deal, and the results are well worth it. Our reception turned out so well, and the majority of that was thanks to the amazing work done by the VMFA staff. Highly recommend this venue!

The catering staff was extremely professional and attentive as well, and there was even an events manager there to make sure everything went smoothly during the reception. We worked with Michelle, who was very informative and attentive to our needs. She had excellent recommendations for vendors, and had a lot of great suggestions and insight to what would work best in the space. We would absolutely recommend them!

She was so flexible and helpful in getting some of our extras coordinated, including a cookie bar and other desserts (which the VMFA does not charge any extra fee to bring in and sets up for you!). I was blown away when I walked into the reception...everything was impeccably set up and more beautiful than I had imagined! I would highly recommend the VMFA to any bride looking for a classic yet modern Richmond space to hold your reception!!

Michelle, is such a sweet lady and very attentive to detail. I emailed her constantly and she always answered in a timely manner (especially important since I was planning from out of town!) The atmosphere of the reception can't fully be done justice in pictures, but it was wonderful. They dimmed the lights for us and provided votive candles with frosted glass containers on all of the tables. Really no other decorations were necessary.. we did rent tablecloths for the DJ and cake tables, and chiavari chairs, and had simple $20 floral centerpieces. Very simple, and the VMFA works with a rental company so no extra contract needed! The food is incredible, which didn't surprise me at all, and we were able to have any drinks we wanted ordered for the bar at no extra cost. Any signature cocktails or craft beers you'd like for your menu, they'll do their best to procure. Our guests were very happy :) Also, don't bother with an uplighting package from another company. It's not necessary. It might look cool in pictures, but really for this venue it would've felt out of place I think. It's beautiful and dramatic on its own :)

ul. It definitely kept the decorating to a minimum. :) We rented chairs as we were not pleased with the ones they had to offer, but that was no biggie. It was wonderful to work with the people, especially Michelle, at the events office at the VMFA. We couldn't have been happier with our reception and the service provided before, during, an after our reception!

huge renovation, a lot of their facilities are brand new. It was so special and beautiful. The guests raved about the food. Part of the museum was open for the guests during the reception. I would highly recommend this as a classic and unique wedding reception!
