Fifteen years have passed since Christy Turlington and Ed Burns married in San Francisco on June 7, 2003. While the couple’s wedding photos have remained tightly concealed with the exception of one image shared by Turlington to mark her 10th anniversary to the actor, their seemingly never-ending love story continues to inspire many.
For their 15th anniversary, the parents of two planned a romantic getaway to Spain, from where Turlington shared a kissing snap with her husband on Thursday. “Married 15 years today,” she wrote on Instagram. “Looking forward to the next, and the next after that...To more travel, adventure, incredible food & wine, laughs and love.”
In a 2015 interview, Turlington revealed the secret to her marriage was having separate bathrooms. "Years ago I put one of my Calvin underwear posters on the back of my husband's bathroom door. It's still there and I tease him about it,” the model told Editorialist. "He has his own bathroom. It's the key to a successful marriage."
The couple first met at a charity event in the Hamptons. They were originally set to wed in Italy in October 2001, but postponed their wedding following the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks. They later married at the Saints Peter and Paul Church along San Francisco’s North Beach. Guests included Sting, Vin Disel and Bono, who walked Turlington down the aisle after her father passed away. Their reception was held at the Asian Art Museum.
