CNN anchor Don Lemon is planning a wedding. The journalist and his boyfriend, Tim Malone, got engaged this weekend in their Harlem home--with the help of some furry friends.
"He gave me a present on his birthday,” Lemon wrote on Instagram. “How could I say no?"
Malone opted for a creative proposal by engraving the dog tags of their puppies, Boomer and Barkley, with a phrase that read: “Daddy will you marry papa?" Both Lemon and Malone are wearing engagement rings.
According to CNN and other outlets, the couple first started in 2016 after meeting in New York City. Malone proposed on Friday night after celebrating his birthday in the city with Lemon.
The anchor, meanwhile, first revealed he was gay in his book, Transparent, which was released in 2011. “People have to do it at their own speed. I respect that,” he later told the New York Times. “I do have to say that the more people who come out, the better it is for everyone. I think if I had seen more people like me who are out and proud, it wouldn’t have taken me 45 years to say it, to walk in the truth.”
