Bonjour to this bride. Actress and YouTube star Issa Rae and her longtime love, businessman Louis Diame, married in an intimate and beautiful ceremony in the South of France. The bride revealed her updated relationship status on Monday, July 26, alongside the first photos from the scenic occasion, which she joked was part of a "photoshoot" with wedding photographer Lauren Fair.
The nuptials took place on the peninsula of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, a luxurious and low-key enclave along the French Riviera frequented by many Hollywood stars and moguls. This weekend, however, Cap-Ferrat was the site of a true celeb destination wedding. "A) Impromptu photo shoot in a custom @verawanggang dress," Rae wrote. "B) My girls came to help me, but they all coincidentally had on the same dress! They were sooooo embarrassed. C) Then I took a few flicks with Somebody's Husband. Big thanks to @whiteedenweddings for being so gracious and accommodating and making this feel so real and special."
The nuptials specifically took place at the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild, a petal pink event venue featuring unparalleled views of the Mediterranean Sea. The ceremony was held in front of a grand fountain, which created a cool and misty backdrop as the pair exchanged vows.
The pair implemented several 2021 wedding trends for their special day. They opted to seat their guests on gold embellished and white-cushioned chameleon chairs, the seating of choice for couples this year. The wedding was orchestrated by destination event professional White Eden Weddings. They also built an outdoor furniture lounge featuring velvet loveseats and other luxurious options for guests to enjoy during cocktail hour.

During the reception, loved ones enjoyed dinner and dancing under a sea of chandeliers and an array of coral and blush roses tied together with greenery.
Issa Rae's Wedding Dresses: Details
For the nuptials, Rae chose two gowns by Vera Wang Haute. The first was a custom, light ivory ballgown featuring a strapless sweetheart neckline. The piece was comprised of Chantilly lace and crystal beading. She paired it with a Chantilly lace, light ivory, chapel-length veil.
The bride later swapped into a reception look that seamlessly flowed from the ceremony. Rae looked resplendent in a custom Italian silk crepe gown featuring a plunging neckline. The A-line gown was comprised of tulle, but made for dancing as it featuring a dramatic, high slit.
Rae's engagement was revealed in 2019, at first slyly when she was photographed with a giant diamond ring on her finger on the cover of Essence. Then, her Insecure co-stars Jay Ellis and Yvonne Orji accidentally confirmed at an awards show that she's planning her nuptials to Diame. "We're very excited for her," Orji told Entertainment Tonight at the NAACP Image Awards.
"We all found out in different ways because we're all on different text chains," Ellis added. "We talk at different times, so we all found out at different times in different ways."
Rae's career has particularly blossomed over the last few years as she started with her own YouTube series. She's also well-known for her role in the film, The Hate U Give.
