If you're anything like The Knot Editors, your favorite aspect of major league sports are the love stories of the players. While athletes receive rightful recognition for their professional achievements, there's no denying that the presence of their loved ones in the stands sparks intense interest and fascination too. That's especially true for the top soccer players and their wives, who are dominating the cultural conversation amid the 2026 FIFA World Cup. So, who are the soccer couples to keep an eye on? And which soccer players' wives have been around since the very beginning? Read up on the sweet love stories of the buzziest soccer stars and their partners off the pitch.

Lionel Messi & Antonela Roccuzzo

All eyes are on Lionel Messi, who led Argentina to victory in the 2022 World Cup. He's widely regarded as one of the best soccer players of all time—and he hasn't risen to the top alone. Messi's wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, has been in his life nearly since day one. According to Grazia, the two were introduced by her cousin and his friend, Lucas Scaglia, when they were children. They confirmed their relationship in a 2009 interview and got married eight years later in what was called "Argentina's wedding of the century." The 2017 nuptials took place in their hometown, Rosario, and guests included Gerard Pique and Shakira. The couple's three sons, Thiago, Mateo and Ciro, are already following in their dad's footsteps, as they're all budding soccer stars too.

Brenden Aaronson & Milana D'Ambra

Leeds United midfielder Brenden Aaronson made headlines before the 2026 World Cup began, all thanks to his wedding. When the athlete scheduled his May 30, 2026, nuptials to his high school sweetheart, Milana D'Ambra, over two years ago, he had no idea there was a chance that World Cup training camp would ultimately occur at the same time. "When she learned we were going to be reporting at that time...her face flushed, my face flushed, we were kind of freaking out because you put so much time and effort—I mean, she put so much time planning the wedding, it was really scary," he told US Soccer. Luckily, his coach was understanding and allowed him to leave the facility in Georgia to travel to New Jersey for the big event. "It was a whirlwind of days, but also a really amazing whirlwind of days that I'm never going to ever forget," he said. "It was really special."

Omar Marmoush & Jailan El Gabbas

Another one of the newest soccer wives is Jailan El Gabbas, who married Egyptian star player Omar Marmoush on June 1, 2026, just days before the World Cup began. Marmoush was granted special permission to leave training camp for his wedding, which took place in his native Egypt. The couple announced their engagement in December 2025, with the athlete writing on Instagram, "My 11:11 dream has come true."

Gio and Chloe Reyna

While Gio Reyna plays for the German club Borussia Mönchengladbach, he'll be representing Team USA in the 2026 World Cup. The winger tends to keep his personal life out of the spotlight, but he occasionally shares photos on social media with his wife, Chloe (Ortolano) Reyna. While it's unclear exactly when or how they met, Reyna proposed on a beach in 2024. The couple got married on July 18, 2025, in Tarrytown, New York, per USA Today.

David Raya & Tatiana Trouboul

A member of both the Arsenal and Spain national teams, many football fans view David Raya as one of the best goalkeepers in the game today. He'll be heading into the 2026 World Cup on the cusp of his first anniversary, as he married Tatiana Trouboul in July 2025. The couple began dating in 2021 and took their romance public the following year. Raya proposed in October 2024, and the pair tied the knot the following summer. In March 2026, they welcomed their first child: a son named Rio.

Kai Havertz & Sophia Weber

German soccer player Kai Havertz has been with his wife, Sophia Weber, since 2018. After announcing their engagement in 2023, the couple hosted a chic wedding on July 18, 2024. Their son was born the following year, and it didn't take him long to begin cheering on his dad at the pitch: At the end of the 2024/2025 season, he already had a miniature version of his dad's Arsenal jersey to wear to games.

Alphonso Davies & Sheyenne Jen

You'd have to be an eagle-eyed superfan to know that Canadian team captain Alphonso Davies is engaged to Sheyenne Jen. While the two don't appear on each other's social media pages frequently, they did hard-launch their engagement by posting a photo of her dazzling engagement ring on January 1, 2025. Jen played coy with the announcement, writing simply, "My favorite photo dump so far."

Santiago Giménez & Fernanda Serrano

AC Milan and Mexico national team striker Santiago Giménez met his wife, Fernanda Serrano, in a rather modern way. According to the AC Milan team site, the video game fanatics first connected while playing against each other virtually during the COVID pandemic. They followed each other on Instagram and began dating shortly after. The couple announced their engagement in 2022, then hosted a lavish wedding on the beach in 2024.

Harry Kane & Kate Goodland

Even though Harry Kane's wife, Kate Goodland, has known him since childhood, it hasn't made seeing his rise to stardom any easier. "We went to school together, so she's seen my whole career. Of course, she's finding it a little crazy," the English athlete told Esquire in 2015. After announcing their engagement in 2017, the couple hosted a tropical beach wedding in the summer of 2019. They now have three children together, who often appear at their dad's matches.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain & Perrie Edwards

Soccer fans know Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as a midfielder for the Scottish Premiership club Celtic—but music fans might recognize his fiancée, Perrie Edwards, as one of the stars of former British girl group Little Mix. The couple first sparked relationship rumors in 2016 and confirmed their romance the following year. They welcomed their first child together, son Axel, in 2021. Oxlade-Chamberlain proposed on a beach in June 2022; four years later, their daughter Alanis was born. Their busy careers have made wedding planning a challenge, and although Oxlade-Chamberlain won't be playing in the 2026 World Cup, he recently helped the Celtic clinch the Scottish Premiership title. Adding to the good news, Edwards confirmed to 1883 Magazine that their wedding is finally set to take place later this year. "There's so much in both my personal and professional life [happening]—my wedding," she told the outlet. "I tried on the dress the other day and I'm so happy with it."

Victoria & David Beckham

It's impossible to talk about soccer players' wives without discussing the OG: Victoria Beckham. The former Spice Girl began dating the iconic soccer star in 1997 after they crossed paths in the Manchester United players' lounge. David Beckham later said in a televised interview that he knew he wanted to marry her immediately. Posh and Becks went on to become of the most influential celebrity power couples. They got married on July 4, 1999, in an Irish castle; their four-month old son, Brooklyn, served as the ring bearer. They went on to have three more children together: Cruz, Romeo and Harper. While David has since retired from his soccer career, the entrepreneurs have kept busy: he was knighted for his dedication to sports and philanthropy, while she maintains a fashion and beauty empire.

Cristiano Ronaldo & Georgina Rodríguez

When it comes to soccer WAGs, you probably recognize Georgina Rodríguez, the longtime partner of Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese forward is one of the most famous athletes across all major league sports, and he's been with Rodríguez, an Argentinian model, since 2016 after they met in a Gucci store where she was working as a sales associate. The proud parents have since raised their blended family together: He has three children from other relationships, while they have two children together. (While they were expecting twins in 2022, only one child survived during the birth.) After nine years together, Ronaldo proposed with a massive engagement ring that quickly broke the internet. The oval-shaped diamond, which is flanked by smaller oval side stones, is estimated to be over 30 carats and cost upwards of $5 million, which would make it one of the largest and most expensive celebrity engagement rings of all time.
