Alas, fate intervened, and they reconnected at the 2018 wedding of her nephew, who also booked Backroad Anthem to provide live entertainment at the event.
In an interview with former People editor-in-chief Jess Cagle, the singer explained how their relationship changed after their second meeting. "We had kind of become online friends. I just got to know the whole band because, you know, that's my people—my tribe," she explained. "And we became friends so by the time we met at that second wedding is when sparks flew." She confirmed that they officially began dating on August 3, 2018, saying, "He's so awesome. He's a good guy and he's a great musician."

After three years together, Josh Bryant proposed to Kristin Chenoweth in New York City. The guitarist popped the question on the rooftop of the iconic Rainbow Room in Midtown Manhattan. He presented her with a dazzling three-stone engagement ring from De Beers Forevermark by Rahaminov. Following the romantic proposal, the fiancés celebrated with dinner at Fresco by Scotto. Two years later, the couple officially sealed their union in Dallas, Texas. Kristin Chenoweth's wedding to Josh Bryant took place in front of 140 guests at a private residence. After the big day, the singer opened up to People about how her husband changed her outlook on marriage. "I have been a self-proclaimed bachelorette my whole life," she told the outlet. "I was never going to get married. I even got engaged before and couldn't do it. Until I met Josh. Then I was like, 'Why would I ever let this guy go?' I'm so blessed."
November 2024: Josh Bryant Supports Kristin Chenoweth at the Wicked Premiere

In 2024, Kristin Chenoweth and her former Wicked co-star Idina Menzel (who played Elphaba alongside Chenoweth's Glinda in the original Broadway cast) shocked fans with their unexpected cameo in the 2024 movie adaptation. Chenoweth was joined by her husband as she walked the red carpet of the film's premiere in New York City. Also by her side was Menzel, as well as the film's stars, including Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo and Jonathan Bailey.
The actresses' appearances were a well-kept secret throughout the entire filming process. But once news of their involvement began making the rounds on the internet, Chenoweth shared a collection of top-secret photos from the set, including a sweet shot with her husband. The couple's dog made a memorable entrance to AC/DC's "Thunderstruck" before the ceremony began. Chenoweth walked down the aisle wearing a Pamella Roland ball gown, which had a romantic sheer nude and pink overlay with an oversized bow on the back. "I didn't want to wear white," she told People of the ensemble. "Simple and elegant. I never thought I'd get married, so I went very nontraditional with the gown. I love it."
The event was planned and designed by Crystal Frasier Weddings and featured pops of the bride's favorite color: pink! "Without having to even ask Kristin, I knew that the theme would probably be pink-oriented in some way," Bryant joked to the outlet.
This wasn't the only nod to Chenoweth's iconic Broadway role as Glinda the Good Witch. After the ceremony, guests sipped on an array of signature cocktails, including the "Wicked Margarita," the "Bryant Old Fashioned," and the "Thundertini Martini." Inspired by Southern comfort food, the dinner menu included beef tenderloin, whipped potatoes and haricot verts, chicken, steak fries and fried pickles, as well as pasta and flatbreads.
The newlyweds sliced into a five-tier Mexican vanilla bean wedding cake, and their guests also indulged in a dessert spread with Belgian chocolate bonbons, chocolate salami, and gourmet cookies. Before the night was over, the couple treated everyone to 7-11 Slurpees and Dunkin Donuts as a late-night snack.
Despite their age gap, Chenoweth told the magazine that she had no doubts Bryant has always been the one for her. "Josh is 14 years younger than me, and I thought that was ridiculous. I'm never going to do that in my life, ever," she said. "But he's made me feel very confident and beautiful and loved at any age."
