Who is Idina Menzel's Spouse, Aaron Lohr?

Idina Menzel is married to Aaron Lohr. A graduate of UCLA, Lohr majored in theater—but his career in the arts began long before he was in college. Lohr appeared in the 1984 music video for Deniece Williams' song "Let's Hear It for the Boy." In the 1990s, he had a recurring role as "Marlon" in the ABC sitcom Sister, Sister starring Tia and Tamera Mowry. He went on to appear in a few Disney works, including The Mighty Ducks series and Newsies. He was also the singing voice for Max Goof in A Goofy Movie.

Lohr starred in the 2005 film adaptation of the Tony-winning Broadway musical Rent, which would prove to be a key point in his love story with Menzel. He also performed in a handful of New York theater productions before retiring from show business. Today, he works as the Clinical Director at the Avalon Malibu rehab center.

In this film adaptation of the popular Broadway show, Menzel reprised her role as Maureen, while Lohr had a smaller supporting role and provided backing vocals. (Fun fact: Menzel made her Broadway debut in this rock musical, seven years before she would go on to star in Wicked alongside Kristin Chenoweth.) Also in 2005, Menzel and Lohr shared the stage again in the off-Broadway production of See What I Wanna See, but it would be another decade until their relationship turned romantic.

April 2015: Idina Menzel and Aaron Lohr Confirm Their Relationship at the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner

Menzel and Diggs welcomed their son, Walker, in 2009, but later announced their separation in 2013. While we don't know how Menzel and Lohr reconnected, they confirmed their relationship by walking the red carpet together at the 2015 White House Correspondents' Association Dinner. Four months later, The Los Angeles Times reported that they purchased a home together in Encino, California.
September 2016: Idina Menzel Announces Her Engagement
The following year, Menzel took to X (formerly Twitter) to thank fans for supporting her self-titled album Idina…and to announce that she was set to be married! "As if this week couldn't get any better I have wonderful news... my man and I are engaged! We are so happy. It's a beautiful time," she wrote on September 23.

Exactly one year later, Idina Menzel and her husband exchanged vows at their California abode. "Wanted to let you know... Married the love of my life #aaronlohr this weekend @ our home," she confirmed on social media. "Dad & son walked me down aisle. It was magical."
