Bonnet relocated from France to Los Angeles for his modeling career, and in a 2019 Instagram post, he revealed that they crossed paths almost immediately after he touched down in the States. "I'm grateful for meeting this amazing person, just 2 days after I came to LA," he shared. "Since that we never left each other. One year after their courthouse elopement, Bonnet replaced her sparkler with a larger diamond engagement ring within a dazzling halo setting. October 2019: Mary and Romain Bonnet Host Their Second Wedding
Romain and Mary Bonnet's second wedding took place on October 12, 2019, and was featured on the second season of Selling Sunset. The couple exchanged vows at a French estate the bride was listing at the time—and as fate would have it, she ended up selling the property on her wedding day. "I paused the wedding and sold it in the middle of getting ready," she told People. "Everyone thought I was out of my mind, but I told the seller when he allowed me to book it for the wedding venue that I won't let the wedding planning or doing it there get in the way of selling it!"
November 2023: Mary Bonnet Shares How Her Husband Supported Through Her Miscarriage
Mary and Romain's marriage has been a significant plotline of Selling Sunset, as the show has chronicled their journey as newlyweds, his transition to working with the Oppenheim Group, and their desire to become parents together. (Fitzgerald is already a mom to 27-year-old son Austin from a previous relationship.)
In the show's seventh season, Fitzgerald was thrilled when she learned she was pregnant. But shortly after they discovered the news, she experienced a heartbreaking miscarriage that resulted in an infection, which required an emergency operation. Despite the challenging season of their marriage, Fitzgerald opened up to People about how her husband supported her through that time. "I can't ask for a better partner," she told the outlet. "He's just very, very thoughtful and sensitive to the whole situation, and he just tried to take care of me the best [way] possible, and I'm like, honey, you're going through this too."

While they originally had a different venue booked, it fell through shortly before the big day. The bride tapped into her real estate connections and ultimately booked a private estate that she was listing at the time—and she ended up selling it on the wedding day! The pair enlisted Bride's Bestie to plan their French-inspired nuptials. As a tribute to her husband, Fitzgerald recited her vows in his native language. "That was very nerve-wracking. I don't speak French…but Romain's sister helped me the night before," she told the publication. "His parents don't speak English, so Romain and I both thought that was a very nice touch."
The bride wore a fitted lace dress by Floravere with an open back, which revealed a tattoo (of a French saying!) that she got before meeting Bonnet. The groom, for his part, opted for a neutral textured suit.
The Oppenheim brothers shared speeches during the reception, which featured a lively dance party—and everything was captured by Selling Sunset cameras. "It was our dream wedding," Fitzgerald concluded. "Neither of us are big, showy kind of people, and we just wanted the people closest to us, where it just felt sincere and comfortable.
