While you probably watch Netflix's Selling Sunset to get a glimpse of the jaw-dropping drama surrounding the Los Angeles real estate industry, the reality series has given us a few famous couples that we can't help but root for. Such is the case for Mary Fitzgerald and Romain Bonnet. Since the show's very first season, Fitzgerald has been one of the top agents at the Oppenheim Group—and though the series has chronicled her career alongside castmates like Chrishell Stause, Heather Rae El Moussa, Emma Hernan, and Chelsea Lazkani, it's also given a peek inside her marriage with the French model.

Mary and Romain Bonnet met in 2017…when she was his real estate agent, of course! The couple secretly swapped vows in 2018 and tied the knot again in an intimate wedding that was featured on the show. (Did you know she ended up selling her venue on the day of the wedding?) Since then, the couple has been open about their fertility journey and their shared passion for renovating houses. Here, we break down everything to know about Mary and Romain Bonnet's sweet love story.

  • Mary (Fitzgerald) Bonnet is married to Romain Bonnet, a French model and home renovation project manager.
  • Mary and Romain Bonnet met in 2017 when she was his real estate agent.
  • After getting married in a private courthouse ceremony in March 2018, Mary and Romain Bonnet hosted a larger wedding on October 12, 2019, which was featured in season two of Selling Sunset.

Who is Mary Fitzgerald's Husband, Romain Bonnet?

Mary Fitzgerald is married to Romain Bonnet. The French native is 12 years younger than the realtor, and he moved to Los Angeles in 2017 to pursue his modeling career. While he once worked as a pastry chef, he's since moved on to the Oppenheim Group alongside his wife—but he's not an agent. "He does construction," Fitzgerald told Women's Health. "He's [also] a project manager for a bunch of our listings, a lot of people don't know that."

How Mary and Romain Bonnet Met

Mary and Romain Bonnet's meet-cute is exactly what you'd expect for two of Selling Sunset's biggest stars. The couple met in 2017 when she was his real estate agent. Bonnet relocated from France to Los Angeles for his modeling career, and in a 2019 Instagram post, he revealed that they crossed paths almost immediately after he touched down in the States. "I'm grateful for meeting this amazing person, just 2 days after I came to LA," he shared. "Since that we never left each other. I have a warrior by my side that I'm so proud of, and I can't wait to see [what the future] is preparing for us."

Mary and Romain Bonnet's Relationship Timeline

Considering they've been core members of the Selling Sunset cast since season one, we break down Mary and Romain Bonnet's complete relationship timeline here.

Summer 2017: Mary Fitzgerald and Romain Bonnet Meet & Start Dating

This Selling Sunset love story blossomed before the cameras started rolling. Mary and Romain Bonnet met in 2017 when she was his real estate agent in Los Angeles. The couple began dating that summer, and Fitzgerald first posted about Bonnet on Instagram in July. Their first anniversary dinner date was documented on the inaugural season of Selling Sunset, which was filmed in 2018, further confirming the details of their relationship timeline.

March 2018: Mary and Romain Get Married at a Courthouse

Less than a year after they began dating, Mary and Romain Bonnet were legally married on March 9, 2018, at the Ventura Courthouse. Official documents obtained by TMZ confirmed the couple's secret vow swap—but they didn't consider that to be their "official" wedding.

"Mary and Romain had a civil union a couple of months before the show began filming in June of 2018, but they chose not to tell any of their friends or family, as they were still trying to see if their relationship would work out in the long term," the couple's rep told Us Weekly. "In their minds, they weren't properly married until the wedding that was filmed during the show."

April 2019: Romain Bonnet Upgrades Mary Fitzgerald's Engagement Ring

OG fans of Selling Sunset will remember the drama surrounding Mary Fitzgerald's first engagement ring, which had a moissanite center stone. One year after their courthouse elopement, Bonnet replaced her sparkler with a larger diamond engagement ring within a dazzling halo setting. "Finally got her the ring that she deserves 💍 ❤️💯," he wrote on Instagram. In a separate post, Fitzgerald teasingly called out her coworker Maya Vander, saying, "Bling bling!!! Finally got my diamond, so @themayavander you can stop reading Wikipedia now to figure out what moissanite is!"

October 2019: Mary and Romain Bonnet Host Their Second Wedding

Romain and Mary Bonnet's second wedding took place on October 12, 2019, and was featured on the second season of Selling Sunset. The couple exchanged vows at a French estate the bride was listing at the time—and as fate would have it, she ended up selling the property on her wedding day. "I paused the wedding and sold it in the middle of getting ready," she told People. "Everyone thought I was out of my mind, but I told the seller when he allowed me to book it for the wedding venue that I won't let the wedding planning or doing it there get in the way of selling it!"

November 2023: Mary Bonnet Shares How Her Husband Supported Through Her Miscarriage

Mary and Romain's marriage has been a significant plotline of Selling Sunset, as the show has chronicled their journey as newlyweds, his transition to working with the Oppenheim Group, and their desire to become parents together. (Fitzgerald is already a mom to 27-year-old son Austin from a previous relationship.)

In the show's seventh season, Fitzgerald was thrilled when she learned she was pregnant. But shortly after they discovered the news, she experienced a heartbreaking miscarriage that resulted in an infection, which required an emergency operation. Despite the challenging season of their marriage, Fitzgerald opened up to People about how her husband supported her through that time. "I can't ask for a better partner," she told the outlet. "He's just very, very thoughtful and sensitive to the whole situation, and he just tried to take care of me the best [way] possible, and I'm like, honey, you're going through this too."

Romain and Mary Bonnet's Wedding Photos & Details

Following their private courthouse ceremony in 2018, Romain and Mary Bonnet's wedding took place on October 12, 2019. The couple celebrated with 80 loved ones, including Selling Sunset co-stars Chrishell Stause, Heather Rae El Moussa, Christine Quinn and Maya Vander. The bride's bosses, Jason and Brett Oppenheim, and her friend Amanza Smith served in the wedding party, and Nicole Young officiated.

While they originally had a different venue booked, it fell through shortly before the big day. The bride tapped into her real estate connections and ultimately booked a private estate that she was listing at the time—and she ended up selling it on the wedding day! "Everyone thought I was out of my mind, but I told the seller when he allowed me to book it for the wedding venue that I won't let the wedding planning or doing it there get in the way of selling it," she told People.

The pair enlisted Bride's Bestie to plan their French-inspired nuptials. As a tribute to her husband, Fitzgerald recited her vows in his native language. "That was very nerve-wracking. I don't speak French…but Romain's sister helped me the night before," she told the publication. "His parents don't speak English, so Romain and I both thought that was a very nice touch."

The bride wore a fitted lace dress by Floravere with an open back, which revealed a tattoo (of a French saying!) that she got before meeting Bonnet. The groom, for his part, opted for a neutral textured suit.

The Oppenheim brothers shared speeches during the reception, which featured a lively dance party—and everything was captured by Selling Sunset cameras. "It was our dream wedding," Fitzgerald concluded. "Neither of us are big, showy kind of people, and we just wanted the people closest to us, where it just felt sincere and comfortable. So that's what we did."
