A Close-Up Look at Misty Copeland's Engagement Ring From Olu Evans
Shine bright like a diamond! Ever since the news broke that ballerina Misty Copeland and lawyer Olu Evans's engagement in August 2015, we've been dying to get our eyes on the ring that sealed the deal for the couple of 10 years. Luckily for us, the first African-American principal dancer in the American Ballet Theatre has made several public appearances recently with her new finger candy that didn't disappoint.
We caught a close-up shot of Copeland's engagement ring at the American Ballet Theatre's 75th Anniversary Fall Gala where the dancer gave off a newly engaged glow in an elegant burgundy off-the-shoulder number (see the full look below). All eyes were on her enormous cushion-cut sparkler set in a halo and a pave band, though.
While little is known about the proposal and Copeland's wedding to Evans (who, by the way, happens to be actor Taye Diggs's cousin), she did recently reveal to E! her plans to have a "simple" wedding. "I get to become a fairy princess on stage and wear incredible costumes and gowns to galas so, for me, I just want to have a simple, as easy going day as I can have and just not have it be a big show," Copeland says.
Congratulations again to Copeland and Evans on the engagement!
