Chase Court is a stunning hidden gem in Midtown Baltimore. So many other venues made our 30-guest wedding feel small or unimportant but David made us feel truly special. Nestled in the shadow of a stone-walled church, we were able to get those "wedding" vibes without having to have a religious ceremony. David made the whole process simple and relaxed. He helped us arrange for a beautiful solo harpist to welcome our guests and add ambiance to our small ceremony. We lucked out with PERFECT weather but the grounds and building are as beautiful inside as out. For anyone looking to create the wedding of their dreams, especially if those dreams don't follow the "traditional" wedding route, Chase Court is an exceptional option that shows the old time charm of Charm City.
Chase Court was exactly what we needed for our short-notice, international, intimate wedding ceremony. David Egan was able to organize an excellent and professional ceremony for my husband and I and our 16 guests with just 30 days notice!
We were paired with an outstanding officiant, Natalie Tyler, who crafted a custom ceremony that was a perfect summation of our relationship and was delivered with so much joy that the room radiated with love.
Our photographer, Jennifer Smutek, worked quickly and effortlessly to capture our special day even in a tight timeframe, and a slightly rowdy albeit excited group of guests. She made it easy and enjoyable to capture those essential moments of our most important day.
Even our custom flower request was fulfilled in time!
The architecture and ambiance of the space gave us the right degree of reverence and atmosphere that suited my husband’s and I’s interests and dreams of our wedding day.
I will start out by saying that the venue itself is amazing. It’s beautiful and was perfect for our small intimate elopement. I also very much appreciated how we were able to be accommodated within 2 weeks of our date.
David is the main reason I’m giving this gorgeous venue it a 1/5. Before booking, I had read reviews from others about him being “cold, rude and ugly to everyone. He was incredibly inhospitable” but decided to give him the benefit of the doubt. Being a very culturally diverse family, we had people of all colors and religions in attendance. I kept those reviews in mind as I entered the day.
First, during our initial consultation he was making inappropriate jokes about how awkward it would have been to accidentally sext me, that should have been my first red flag.
He made the day of extremely stressful. He made my teenage sister cry. He was micro managing my family setting everything up. David also made rude comments to my grandfather (a BISHOP who is black), but as soon as he put his collar on to officiate our wedding, David drastically changed how he spoke to him. We had guests from out of state and due to traffic things were running behind, David was not understanding and actually quite rude about it. My fiancé was not worried, but I kept saying to him that “ I read reviews and where David seemed unhinged”. And that was definitely the case. We offered to pay more money and he reluctantly agreed to 10 extra minutes. We ended up getting the ceremony & all family portraits done right on time. As my family was cleaning up and loading everything into cars, David said to my family of color (one of those people being my dad) “You people need to get out of here.” Once my father told him how inappropriate that was, my dad decided to walk away from the situation. David then proceeded to call my father a “coward” for not engaging in an unhealthy dialogue.
We did not let him ruin our day, but he definitely left a very sour taste in all of our mouths.
Venue is gorgeous but David is not as inclusive as his advertising leads you to believe. Believe the negative reviews on the google page and book cautiously!
If you value a clear plan, assurance of care, and a professional experience for your wedding (who doesn’t?!), trust me when I say you MUST have your wedding at Chase Court. Invaluable to an anxious bride and type-A personality, David’s expertise constantly put my mind at ease every step of the way. As soon as I arrived to the wedding, David had already handled placements of vendors and other miscellaneous details that he gathered over months of planning and listening to what we wanted for our day. The courtyard was so beautiful that my mind instantly melted into our ceremony and its magical setting. Our guests were so impressed and stunned at the gothic aesthetics of the ballroom as well. Looking back on photos, I know we couldn’t have picked a better place. To put it simply, this venue and David’s experience with wedding events of all types make it the ultimate package. A totally timeless, adaptable, romantic, and UNIQUE place to get married. We will forever remember how perfect our special day was, thanks to Chase Court!
Chase Court was a perfect place to have my “dream” wedding. The building is beautiful with gothic architecture, hard wood floors, stained glass windows to the ceiling and even some art deco style to it. It is in the Mount Vernon section of Baltimore with a garden outside area and nearby parking.
We had 55 people with a wonderful affiliate who delivered the exact kind of ceremony we wanted, a talented string quartet, a professional photographer who captured everyone looking fabulous and a delicious caterer. David Egan, the owner of Chase Court made planning the event so easy, as he knows the best people in Baltimore to work with. David has an eye for art and beauty as well as efficiency, the perfect combination for the ultimate wedding planner!
I highly recommend Chase Court to anyone looking for a beautiful, easy to plan, unique place for their special day.
Our winter wedding at Chase Court was so magical. The space is warm and intimate, perfect for our 90 guests. The gothic vibe is truly one-of-a-kind. David was helpful through the whole process. We did both the ceremony and reception in the great hall and the flip of the space during cocktail hour was smooth and flawless. They've got the process down to a science! The only slight downside is that the bridal suite can only start being used 1 hour before the ceremony starts. We got ready at a nearby hotel and then put on dresses when we got to Chase Court. 100% worth it, though!
We booked the elopement package for a Friday afternoon and it was perfect! David was laid back and easy to work with. The package included our officiant, who we loved. The package made the whole process so easy and stress free. I love that we could just select what we wanted and David took care of it.
The location was absolutely beautiful! We had the ceremony outside in the garden and it was forecasted to rain but since there was an equally stunning indoor ceremony location, I was not worried. We ended up being able to have the ceremony outdoors and take all of our photos outside as well. The flowers had just started to bloom and were a lovely backdrop for our portraits.
Chase Court was the absolute PERFECT venue for our Harry Potter-themed wedding. As soon as we saw its castle-like design, great hall, and beautiful courtyard, we knew that this was the only place we could have our (admittedly unique) wedding. And it was everything that we hoped it would be and more! My wife and I will cherish our special day forever, and we couldn't have done it without David and Chase Court! I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a venue with something of a magical flair!
The venue is every bit as striking as the pictures would have you believe. The great hall looks like something out of a fantasy story; and for two nerds getting married that made it perfect. It also has a fantastic indoor/outdoor setup; the weather for our wedding was as nice as we could have hoped for in October in Baltimore, but if we’d been forced to go inside it would have been fine and fitting. If you’re getting married outdoors though, watch for the bridge! We didn’t have anyone go off of it, but only because we were all paying really really close attention to it.
The catering list, while limited, still gives you plenty of options. We ended up going with The Pantry at David’s suggestion and can’t recommend them highly enough.
Speaking of David, he is an integral part of the Chase Court experience. We understand that his hands-on approach may not be for everyone, but neither of us had Our Perfect Wedding Planned Out From Age Six and his reassurance and advice was critical for us. We also wanted to find as inclusive an environment for our wedding as possible, and David’s dedication to social justice and inclusion was a big selling point.
Overall rating: 5/5, great place to get married with a great on-site coordinator.
My husband and I chose Chase Court for two reasons, it was in Baltimore City and it was beautiful. We both love Baltimore, and I had a significant number of people coming in from out of town, so having the wedding in the city was very important to us. The Chase Court was perfect. It was close to everything (hotel, rehearsal dinner, and downtown and Mt. Vernon attractions), and despite being in the middle of a major metropolitan area it felt secluded. The old architecture was stunning, which made doing the DIY décor a piece of cake. We had a small wedding (63 guests plus myself and my husband) which made the site even more perfect, as it was intimate and not overwhelming. Several people have mentioned that David, the owner, can be a little stiff, but I thought he was nothing but helpful. Having a required caterer list meant we had several to pick from instead of hundreds, and the one we chose was phenomenal. We also used his recommendation for an officiant and could not have been happier. The website is full of information, and the parking and driving directions we linked to our wedding website. He also provided information on obtaining a Baltimore City marriage license. I took most of his suggestions, and though he seemed wary of my desire to DIY he let us go with it anyway (I hope he was pleasantly surprised :) We had a bit of trouble with the handicap accessibility, but that's to be expected from an historic site. Lastly, a bit of advice, if you're getting married in front of the fireplace, turn off the fire after the first dance. I thought the heat was great, but then again I was in a light silk dress and complain whenever it goes below 80 degrees. Be a nice bride and be flexible, other people get hot :)
While I had a great evening, I found the owner to be rather difficult to work with. He was rather prickly. I had heard this previously, so I was able to work around it and not take offense.
The space itself is beautiful and great for a small/medium-sized wedding. We had around 85 people.
Chase Court was lovely. Our reception was wonderful. David was very honest and his advice was on point. We had 80 people at our reception, and I don't think more than 100 would fit well. Chase Court is totally original and beautiful.
the location was amazing , every detail was perfect from the flowers to the photos and da. I would recomend this vendor to anyone looking for a picture perfect location and for someone who will do what he can to make your day just right .
I loved everything about this place the cathedral feeling the overgrown garden it made it an amazing day!!!
This venue is the best secret in town! It is a beautiful, flowery courtyard hidden in the city - you would never know it's there. We wanted to get married in the city (our theme was Baltimore) but we didn't want to be surrounded by concreate, so Chase Court was perfect. The reception was at the same place, inside a historic building that used to be a church rectory, but is now privately owned. The owner, David, has a heart of gold and truly wants your day to be special. However, he is very picky and wants things to be a certain way. This is easy to get around because you have to choose from a list of vendors, all of whom are familiar with his quirky personality. Our guests could not stop talking about how beautiful Chase Court was and I am so happy we chose it!
We loved Chase Court for our wedding reception. The price was great with the winter special - the windows are amazing and the whole atmosphere for an evening wedding was intimate and classy. We got so many comments on how beautiful everything was. It was unforgettable. I highly recommend this place!
The owner was very helpful and willing to give advice. I gave 4 stars for service only because they have a lot of rules, and also, sometimes we didn't want advice - we just wanted to do it in a way that was meaningful to us even if it wasn't the perfect or classiest plan. But he always eventually accommodated what we wanted, as long as it didn't break any rules.
Some warnings: don't try to have more than 100 guests for a reception (especially with a buffet) unless you're doing cocktail style, where less than 1/3 of guests have seats. Also they have a limited list of approved caterers - we did fine with their list, but most of them are on the pricey side. Ask David (the owner) to rank them by cost if you're trying to stay on a budget, and only approach the bottom 3 for quotes. Finally - parking can be a little complicated - even with all the info on the website, some of our older guests had trouble parking and finding the entrance. I loved how private it was, but might be a good idea to station someone outside on the corner to direct people.
Chase Court is perfect for small vintage weddings! I fell in love with the old gothic style of it immediately and it made our reception look magical! David was also a pleasure to work with. We had a special first dance that required quite a bit of room. He allowed us to visit a couple times to practice and figure out where the best dance spot would be.
My husband and I were married at Chase Court in December, 2011, and this venue is a great choice for an intimate wedding for couples on a budget. Though no longer the parish house of an Episcopal church, there is a definite feel of history and sacredness to it that makes it a good choice for interfaith couples who want more than a hotel wedding. The glow of candles on the lead glass windows was almost magical.
The owner helped us plan a wedding in this lovely venue that was both beautiful and affordable. He tirelessly answered questions and offered advice, might as well have been our wedding planner, too! Now that's service with style, and it all added up to an elegant wedding that neither we nor our family and friends will soon forget. Thanks Chase Court!
This location is beautiful inside and has some lovely touches. My favorite was the fireplace in the main dining area and the sound system which allowed for an ipod. The owner was very helpful and willing to answer questions. Overall, I think this venue is best for a spring or summer wedding and is overpriced for winter.
My husband and I wanted a place walking distance from the hotel and created a special ambiance. I loved the fact that I could have as much variety with the service instead of a fixed dinner package. At Chase Court I really felt my wedding was one-of-a-kind.
