Carly Rae Jepsen Is Engaged! See Her Non-Traditional Ring
It's no longer a party for one…it's a party for two! Carly Rae Jepsen is engaged to her boyfriend, Cole M.G.N., which she announced on Instagram on September 23. "Very engaged over here 💍❤️," the singer captioned a collection of photos from the proposal, which appeared to take place in a bucolic rural setting.
The engagement comes just one year after their rom-com-worthy meet-cute, which Jepsen previously said occurred when they collaborated on a song together. So, who is Carly Rae Jepsen's husband-to-be? We break down everything to know about the music producer, as well as the non-traditional engagement ring he popped the question with.

All About Carly Rae Jepsen's Engagement Ring
One thing is certain: We really, really, really, really, really, really like Carly Rae Jepsen's engagement ring. The four-time Billboard Music award-winner shared a glimpse of her non-traditional sparkler in the engagement announcement, which appears to be a blue or black gemstone on a simple gold band. A stark contrast from a traditional diamond center stone, Jepsen's colorful bauble is in line with one of The Knot's top engagement ring trends of this year.
Although it's hard to discern the exact specs due to its unique nature, Marrow Fine founder Jillian Sassone predicts Jepsen's ring could be cushion- or Asscher-cut spinel gemstone, or even a variation of a sapphire. "We informally call [that gem] a 'stormy seas' sapphire," she tells The Knot, noting this particular style has risen in popularity among her couples in recent months. "Clients are asking for that color more and more, as it appears in shades of greys and teal blues."
Who is Carly Rae Jepsen's Husband-to-Be, Cole M.G.N.?
Carly Rae Jepsen's fiancé is music producer Cole M.G.N. The songwriter, whose full name is Cole Marsden Greif-Neil, has worked with artists like Beck, Snoop Dogg and Jepsen. A graduate of NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, he's won six Grammy Awards for his work with Beck.
Jepsen and Greif-Neil have been together since 2023, when they met while working on Jepsen's song "So Right" off her album The Loveliest Time. The song opens with a skit that features them talking about hanging out together even when they aren't working, which Jepsen said influenced the nature of their relationship.
"I would've been too shy beforehand to be like, 'Do you want to do a skit at the beginning?' But now that we're so close, it was just really fun and playful to be like, 'Let's have this very '80s drama skit at the beginning where you ask me if I should come over and I say no, but then I come anyways,'" Jepsen told People. "You have to get to a certain level of comfort with somebody before you can get to those really playful, joyful, experimental places."
As their relationship transitioned from professional collaborators to romantic partners, Jepsen teased that they plan on continuing to make music together. "We'll go traveling somewhere, and we'll bring a little acoustic guitar," she continued. "I think you'll see a lot more of our collaboration together for future projects, but this is our first little baby out in the world. We're both so excited."
The entertainer also added more insight on what makes their relationship work in the spotlight, saying that their shared understanding of the industry allows them to thrive as a couple. "It's really wild getting to travel and have somebody understand what you do and be like, 'Go chase everything. I'm here when you're home,'" she said. "I think that's an essential thing for every relationship. You have somebody that's your cheerleader that's not holding you back, but also knows how to hold you down."
