Chris Evans' wife is Alba Baptista. An actress and humanitarian, she's best known for her role in Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris, as well as Netflix's Warrior Nun. She's also appeared in a number of Portuguese movies and TV shows like A Impostora, Filha da Lei, A Criação and Jogo Duplo.

Evans and Baptista were first linked in November 2022. When news of their romance went public, a source told People that they were "serious" and had been together for over a year. "They are in love and Chris has never been happier," the insider told the outlet. "His family and friends all adore her."

Although he has since deleted the content from his Instagram page, Evans confirmed his romance with Baptista in January 2023 by sharing a video montage that featured various clips of them pranking each other. The following month, he celebrated Valentine's Day with a photo dump of pictures showing them hiking, traveling and spending time with his dog, Dodger.

Chris Evans and Alba Baptista's Proposal Story

The Knot caught up with Chris Evans at the June 2025 red carpet premiere of his movie The Materialists, where he made a rare confession about his love life. The actor opened up about how he proposed to his wife, and the story is nothing short of incredible. (What else would you expect from one of Hollywood's most beloved leading men?) "I can't believe I'm telling you this," he began with a laugh. "I proposed to my wife in [Portuguese]. She's Portuguese, so I learned how to say 'Will you marry me?' in Portuguese," he recalled.

"I had practiced all week," the actor continued. "I practiced it so much that, you know, I'd be making breakfast and you almost just start saying it out loud, like, 'Oh God, that's not just a song stuck in my head, it's gonna let the cat out of the bag.' I got really nervous when it came time to do it, and I actually think I screwed it up. But I still know it!" (Editor's note: In case you're curious, "Will you marry me?" translates to "Você quer se casar comigo?" in his wife's native language.)

Chris Evans' wedding to Alba Baptista took place in September 2023, but news of the secret nuptials didn't break for over a month. During an appearance at New York Comic Con on October 14, the actor sported a wedding band on his left ring finger. While speaking on a panel, Evans confirmed that he and his wife hosted two weddings, one in Cape Cod and another destination ceremony in her native Portugal, calling them "wonderful and beautiful."

He shared more about their life as newlyweds, saying, "It's a lot planning a wedding. For those of you who are married you know it takes a lot out of you," he said. "But now that we're through that, we've just been enjoying life, gearing up for autumn, my favorite season. Now we're just relaxing and enjoying life and reflecting."

Page Six was the first to report the news that the Captain America: The First Avenger star married his girlfriend on Saturday, September 9, at a private estate in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Plenty of Evans' famous friends attended the ultra-private ceremony, including his Marvel co-stars Robert Downey Jr. and his wife, Susan Downey; Chris Hemsworth and his wife, Elsa Pataky; and Jeremy Renner. Fellow A-listers John Krasinski and Emily Blunt were also in attendance. According to the outlet, security for Chris Evans' wedding was "locked down tight" as guests were required to sign NDAs and give up their phones before it began.

In Evans' 2022 Sexiest Man Alive interview with People Magazine, he opened up about his desire to have a family one day. "That's absolutely something I want: wife, kids, building a family," he shared. "When you read about most of the best artists, whether it's actors, painters, writers, most of them [admit] it wasn't the work they made [that they are most proud of], it was about the relationships; the families they created, the love they found, the love they shared."

He continued, "So it's also something through my long 41 years that also rings true. Those things are the most important. I love the idea of tradition and ceremony. I had a lot of that in my life, so the idea of creating that—I can't think of anything better."
