Ellie Goulding and Husband Casper Jopling Are Expecting a Baby

Ellie Goulding and her husband, Casper Jopling, are expecting their first child together. The couple, married since 2019, revealed their happy family update on Tuesday, February 23.

The "Lights" singer, 34, while speaking toVogue, shared that she's about 30 weeks along in her pregnancy. Goulding didn't find out about her own pregnancy until her one-year anniversary in fall 2020. "That was [around] the time when Caspar and I went away briefly when we were allowed to for our one-year anniversary, and that's basically when we found out," she noted of her V&A Museum performance in August 2020. "It was crazy because it was our one-year anniversary. That was not the plan. The thought of getting pregnant didn't seem like it could be a reality. Becoming pregnant kind of made me feel human."

"I have curves I've never had before. I'm enjoying it," she added. "My husband's enjoying it."

Still, she was honest about the nature of being pregnant in the middle of COVID-19. (The couple is quarantined together in the English countryside.) "You have your partner, and you have your friends, but in a pandemic, it can feel particularly lonely," Goulding said. "Because it wasn't something I had planned for right now, [and] I knew it was a more solitary journey because of what's going on. I think that made me keep it very secretive and made me very protective over it. The sickness and tiredness was nothing I'd ever experienced before. I feel like it's a taboo to talk about pregnancy as being challenging. It's not always serene and like you're not always glowing. I'm not saying that every second of this pregnancy has been miserable. It's not always going to be easy. [But,] I have a newfound respect for any woman who has children."

Goulding and her husband married in York, England, on August 31, 2019. Their star-studded guest list. Throughout the weekend, the bride wore four different dresses, including a bespoke Chloé dress which was comprised of silk, long-sleeves and a Victorian Era neckline. The bodice included intricate embroidery that gave the wedding an English countryside seal of approval.

The bride's reception gown, a crepe dress by Stella McCartney, was yet another fashion-forward statement piece.

Goulding and Jopling announced they were engaged in 2018. "You're the most wonderful person I've ever known, and I can't wait to be your very giggly, in awe and loved up wife," she said at the time.
