When it comes to undergarment purchases, "practical" isn't always a word that comes to mind—especially when we're talking pretty, special occasion-worthy styles you wouldn't necessarily wear on a day-to-day basis. But in 2025, that's going to change. This year's new lingerie trends effortlessly combine traditional styling with the comfort of everyday staples, allowing a once perhaps frivolous purchase to feel more like a functional one. "Consumers will focus on versatility and getting the most bang for their buck—think bodysuits, cropped sleep tops and longline bralettes that can seamlessly go from day to night," says Dani Read, head of design at Cosabella. "Keep an eye out for subtle innovation. A fresh focus on sustainability and wellness has driven new technology in familiar materials," she adds.

With that in mind, we're more excited than ever to bring you a rundown of the trending lingerie types taking over 2025. Scroll on for the top five according to experts and shop your favorite styles.

From everyday sets stunning enough to don on special occasions to bold shades and embellishments meant to be seen, read on for the latest lingerie trends destined to take over 2025. Plus, shop the trends at a range of price points, whether you're looking to splurge or save.

Wearing lingerie beyond the bedroom may have once felt like a polarizing idea, but this year, designers are proving just how approachable—and quite frankly, how practical the trend can be. Why not let the beautiful pieces you've invested in be seen? Guido Campello, design director at Journelle, is partial to layering silk slips, longline bras and bustiers for everyday wear. "As a lingerie enthusiast, I'm always looking for ways to incorporate intimates into my outfits. There's something so fashionable about making lingerie part of your everyday wardrobe." Another trending take on the look, particularly with the rise in popularity of see-through lace and sheer dresses and skirts, is the high-waisted panty. "We see its popularity reflected in sales every day," says Alexa Cahill, global president of Kiki De Montparnasse. "We simply cannot keep our Tous Les Jours High-Waisted Panty in stock. It's sleek, modern and crafted from luxurious silk stretch charmeuse, perfectly cut to sit at the slimmest part of the waist and uppermost thigh for an ultra-flattering fit."

Lingerie brands have—and always will—lean on classic shades like black, beige and white. But with a trend toward underpinnings making a statement rather than staying hidden, we're seeing a major move toward more exciting shades. "In our case, think Poire (pear), La Mer (ocean blue), Framboise (raspberry) and Beurre (a beautiful butter tone)," says Cahill. "These hues feel fresh, elevated, and bring a playful yet sensual energy to our collections." Red, in particular, is also having a moment. While it feels fun and bold, it also has a classic element that makes it quite easy to wear. "At For Love & Lemons, we have two dedicated collections full of red," says Nicolette Gazsi, marketing director at For Love & Lemons. "It's so fun to wear, peeking out under a white tank or paired with denim."

There's something so satisfying about slipping into a beautiful lingerie set, even if for no one but yourself to see. "In the past year, there's been a notable shift. People are craving sexy, fun sets for daily wear—not just the bedroom," says Campello. It's a small but impactful decision that has the power to make a person instantly feel more put-together. With that, designers are catering to the trend by creating pieces that combine classic lingerie styling with soft, wearable fabrics. "Comfort will always be important, and innovation is rapidly evolving to satisfy that demand," says Read. "For instance, our new Romanza collection uses a cotton blend stretch lace that combines a traditional look with a more comfortable and breathable feel."

Simple, everyday styles will always be an essential part of any intimates drawer, but sometimes it's worth it to go all out. "For the maximalists, there's an embrace of bold details like embroidery, embellished fringe and diamanté," says Cahill. "They provide a beautiful contrast to the minimalist trends, catering to those looking for opulent, statement-making designs." Perfect for bridal lingerie, Valentine's Day lingerie or simply treating yourself to something special, designers are bringing us no shortage of bold and embellished pieces to choose from this year.

    5. Sustainability

As sustainability becomes more and more prominent in everyday wardrobe staples, the same goes for lingerie. "Natural fibers are being adapted into more intimates' materials, still providing the stretch and support we used to depend on synthetics for," says Read. Silk, in particular, is something Campello says will only become more popular. "There's no trend more enduring than silk. Clients frequently seek natural fabrics for their intimates, and silk is at the top of their list. It's less of a trend and more of a must-have staple now," he adds. "This is an extremely important trend, and it has driven innovation in fabrics and manufacturing that is great for the environment and the people."
