Considering they've spent a quarter of a century together, the longtime couple has established themselves as having one of the longest marriages in Hollywood—and fans can't get enough. The day before their anniversary, the Beckhams shared an Instagram photo in their original matching purple reception ensembles, writing, "Look what we found… 😅💜."

So, how did Posh and Becks come to be? This iconic love story began in 1997, when David and Victoria Beckham met at a Manchester United soccer game. Their first encounter was brief, and David recalled to W Magazine that he was too timid to make a move on the Spice Girl. "I'm quite shy. I just sort of waved from the other side of the bar," he told the outlet. "I sort of said hello and then just went back to Manchester. I was quite upset and gutted."

He wasn't sad for long. Two weeks later, they ran into each other at another soccer game, and David worked up the courage to ask Victoria for her phone number—and she happily wrote it down on a train ticket in her purse. The best part? David still has that memento to this day. In a poignant letter she penned to her younger self for Vogue UK in 2016, the fashion icon seemingly confirmed their spark was instant. "Love at first sight does exist," she wrote.

It was the ring that started it all. In 1998, David Beckham and Victoria Adams announced that they were engaged and planning a wedding for the following year. In a press conference outside their hotel, the couple showed off Victoria Beckham's engagement ring. The pop star's original sparkler was a 6-carat marquise-cut diamond on a gold band by Boodle & Dunthorne. At the time, this ring was valued at $85,000.
2001: The Eternity Band

How's this for a birthday present? It was reported that David Beckham gifted his wife a brand new engagement ring for her 30th birthday in 2004. At an event that year, she was seen wearing a pink oval-cut diamond set within a diamond halo on a sparkly pavé band. According to Vogue, the ring was worth about $1.1 million.

Inside David and Victoria Beckham's Wedding Day
If Victoria's taste in engagement rings is any indication, the couple's wedding day was just as grand as you'd expect. David and Victoria Beckham got married on July 4, 1999, at Luttrellstown Castle in Dublin, Ireland. They began their destination wedding by hosting a vow ceremony at a nearby chapel in front of just 29 guests, including Victoria's Spice Girl bandmates and David's Manchester United and England teammates. That small group was later joined by 230 additional loved ones for the reception at the 15th-century palace.
Inspired by Disney's Robin Hood, the bride wore a strapless Vera Wang ball gown with a corset top and full skirt. She also carried a bouquet of vines, twigs and apples, leaning into the woodland theme. For the reception, the bride and groom both changed into purple ensembles: a fitted one-shoulder dress for her, and a matching suit for him.
One of the most lavish elements of David and Victoria Beckham's wedding was their towering cake, which they sliced with a saber. The creative dessert, made by British artist and sculptor Damien Hirst, featured alternating layers of fruit and chocolate cakes and was adorned in gold leaf foiling for a hint of shimmer, along with the phrase "Victoria & David" written on the cake in diamonds. In other words, it was easily the poshest celebrity wedding cake of all time. What else would you expect from David and Victoria Beckham?
