ess. Kelly was so wonderful to work with and was exactly the person you'd want to have helping you - she is incredibly fun and encouraging, and her expertise ensures you'll find the perfect dress!

- it was perfect, nothing was wrong with it at all even with it being a sample gown. Could not sing Kelly's praises higher- shes phenomenal. I bought it that day and left it at the store (as is usual there), for safekeeping. I came back in February to try it on again and again, left it there for safekeeping and was very very happy. In March, the store asked me to come get it and bring it home so I did. When I got to the store, I unzipped the bag to make sure it was mine and brought it home. When I got home- I was super eager to try it on. So I unzipped the bag, and was astonished to see what looked like a foot long tear on the bodice. Ink stains from a pen on the Thai silk on the back, seams coming apart in several places, sweat stains on the inside of the dress, and more. I was shell shocked- NONE of those issues were there when I bought it or tried it on either times. I called Kelly immediately and sent her pictures of the dress. She told me that she would call back. When she did the next day, she informed me that she had asked all of the employees what had happened to this dress and none of them knew. So she said that I could speak the the owner. When the owner called (who is also called Kelly) she ended up offering to clean and fix the dress but wasn't offering any explanations. I didnt feel good about bringing my dress back to the store and told her so. When I pushed for answers, she told me that I had PURCHASED the dress this way, and basically called me a liar. This was all too much, and frankly, the biggest stain of all on this dress was the experience and how she treated me and handled this process. So I told her that I would be returning the dress for a full refund. I returned the dress and have emailed several times asking for that refund but they just keep sending excuses... it is now almost JULY. It's such a shame, as I really loved my dress, and the store- even better, it's all women owned and run! So I double wanted to support this business. After this experience, I just can't.

big, David, one of the designers (or store manager), shouted "get out my store" at me and my two bridesmaids." He claimed that I must have lost weight -- and two full inches off my waist and bust, and that was why the dress didn't fit. But I didn't lose weight, and have always worn a size 25 or 26 jean, not the 29 inches that he claimed I had been. When he was originally measuring, I raised a concern about him not tightening the measuring tape, but he arrogantly assured me he was a professional and had been working there since 1990. I asked him if there was any solution to the ill-fitting dress, and he told me to take it or leave it. I left, and am now without a wedding dress right before my wedding. It was a traumatizing experience for me and my bridesmaids.

After hearing about my search, priorities, and dislikes, she made some great recommendations for me to try on - even bringing over the mannequin at one point to make sure I'd seen that dress - but didn't waste time in discarding the ones that were clear "nos" for me. I ended up with a beautiful gown that fits me perfectly, and it was nice to feel that Kelly was just as excited as I was to have found "the one." I'd definitely recommend them to anyone looking for the perfect dress!

my stylist for the very next day but when I showed up they didn't have it in their books even though they confirmed it with me. I understand mistakes happened and they were still able to see me so I didn't make a big deal about it. It wasn't until my experience started to feel a bit "salesy" that I became a little uncomfortable. I felt rushed and pressured to buy my dress and was told if I didn't buy it now I would not get a discount that was being offered to me. I understand this tactic is used when buying a car for instance, but for wedding dress shopping which is supposed to be special, it made me uncomfortable.

y MT experience. When I walked into MT Georgetown in March, I had fairly low expectations. I’d had two lengthy but disappointing appointments elsewhere, and was no closer to finding THE dress. But the instant I stepped into the first gown at Modern Trousseau, it felt different. No, that one wasn’t the one either, but it was the first one that put a smile on my face. Beautifully lined, obviously well-made, and unique in the array of seemingly identical itchy polyester numbers I’d seen (elsewhere) so far. Kelly bent over backward to ensure every detail was exactly as I wanted it. When I took delivery in Nashville Jen and DeNeal—the immensely talented seamstress who handles their alterations—patiently took me through the rest of my fitting appointments. I ultimately chose a dress that felt like me on my very best day—and three weeks ago, that’s precisely how I felt wearing it. Thank you, Kelly, Jen, and DeNeal!!

I still wanted the experience of trying on for my friends, so Modern Trousseau set up an additional appointment for me to do so! Six months before my wedding, I moved out of the country, and Modern Trousseau was incredibly helpful in coordinating fittings and shipping my dress from Connecticut to DC and then back to Connecticut to accommodate changes in my plans. I am forever grateful for the excellent experience I had with Modern Trousseau and would recommend working with them to any bride.

bridal salons full of screaming kids and scratchy dresses, Modern Trousseau was like an oasis. The Georgetown boutique is beautiful, clean and calm. Upon arrival, Martuly gave us a warm welcome and picked out some beautiful options within my price point. She instantly made me feel comfortable and I knew I was in good hands. I couldn't believe I was actually brought to tears when I found my dress! Martuly was in constant communication as my dress was being custom-made and proactively checked in even after it was delivered. Everything about the dress was perfect - the quality, fit, and overall look was impeccable. Thank you to Modern Trousseau and Martuly for your amazing customer service and beautiful product. y individualized. Actually the owner happened to be there at the same time and he worked with us to find the perfect dress. He brought about 3 dresses to me, all outside the look that I was going for. Therefore, I was hesitant to try them on. I really really liked all 3, but LOVED one. He walked me through the dress, detailing all of the intricacies of the dress and ways that I could change it if I wanted to. I only ended up changing on thing, swapped out covered fabric buttons for the studded buttons down the back. Easy switch. The owner also gave me a MAJOR discount if I decided to get it on the spot. DONE DEAL! This place has dresses that are works of art, truly. Such great quality, on trend, but timeless. Couldn’t recommend it enough. Lastly, I decided to choose them for alterations as the seamstress knows these dresses very well and honestly it was just the least risk option. The seamstress was an absolute delight. She listened to everything that you wanted, made it a reality, and remembered every detail about you throughout the whole process. I was nervous about steaming the dress correctly, and about a few other details. She walked me through how to do everything for the day of. She even gave me her number so I could call her in case of “emergency”. Such a delight. Modern Trusseau - you at least have to browse this wonderful shop. :)

ry for) where I tried on the "custom" dress for the first time, I literally was in tears. Not tears of joy, but how bad it looked on me. The proportions were all wrong. They assured me they would adjust the dress. Which they did. And it got better, but it was definitely not a dress I would have wanted to wear to my wedding. I went in for the second fitting and yes, the dress was better, but again, crying, and not for joy. (Note, I'm not a weepy person. I think I've cried twice in the last 6 months, both times were over this dress. Also, note, I have a pretty good life that this is my biggest problem. But I'm clearly digressing.) After the second fitting, my dress still did not fit me well. It was supposed to be a custom dress, yet it fit far worse than any off-the-rack dress I've ever tried on. The waist (which they measured) was so tight it took three people to close it on my wedding day (and I had lost weight, not gained.) Due to the tightness, the torso area rode up and bunched up, was not flattering and looked terrible. It was also so tight around my arms that I had deep, harsh red marks from chafing. The dresses are custom made yet you are pretty much required to have their tailor re-fit it (twice in my case) for an additional $600. I don't object to the money so much as the fact that it wasn't just included in the price. Ultimately, my dress was the biggest disappointment of my wedding
