Jimmy Fallon and Wife Nancy Juvonen Reveal New Wedding Details
Following her big "debut" in late March, Jimmy Fallon's wife, Nancy Juvonen, has been stepping out from behind the camera on The Tonight Show. Both Juvonen and Fallon have been practicing social distancing by filming his beloved late night show from home (with the help of their two young daughters, Frances and Winnie). Their new segment "Ask the Fallons" has been particularly telling about as Juvonen, a producer, has been his preferred interview subject.
The Hollywood spouses, who've now been married for more than 12 years, have already revealed sweet tidbits about their life at home with the kids. This week while taking a walk around their neighborhood (masks and all), they shared new revelations about their wedding planning experience, and their eventual connection to Sir Richard Branson, who provided the venue.
Wedding Planning Was Stressful for the Pair
"We got engaged after dating for three-plus years, good times," Juvonen recalled. "I had to go immediately into production on a film on He's Just Not That Into You… and we're making these lists and lists and lists of people. And I'm like, 'I don't have any time.'" After talking to multiple vendors, the couple decided maybe a big domestic wedding wasn't a reflection of their desired wedding style.
"So we were home for Thanksgiving. The movie had just wrapped," she added. "And Jimmy…"
"…I talked to my travel agent," Fallon said, completing her sentence. "And he goes, 'What's your dream?'"
Their ideal destination, it turned out, was Sir Richard Branson's private island, the exclusive Necker Island in the British Virgin Islands. Initially the agent had scoffed at the idea, until he returned Fallon's request around Thanksgiving.
How They Planned a Wedding in Less Than a Month
The agent had returned with rather unexpected news. "And he goes, 'Richard's daughter is having a baby, his first grandchild. He's so excited. He's going to go be with her… over Christmas,'" Fallon said. "He goes, 'Richard's a fan. He likes you, so he'll rent you the island for two days?'"
"We got this place for three days," Juvonen said. "And Jimmy goes, 'What if we got married in three weeks instead of next summer?"

That's how the pair ended up planning a wedding in a month or less. The couple and their loved ones arrived to Necker Island on December 21, 2007, and the next day, the pair married. "We had 12 people at our wedding. I just got a dress done as fast as I could. We didn't care," she said. "Some people are still mad, but no aunts came… It was so cool, everybody was so fun. The staff was so incredible."
"We just had the best time," said Fallon as the pair got excited about the local fauna ("The flamingos and the giant turtles!") and other memories from their wedding day. After their guests departed, the newlyweds stayed behind on Necker Island to hang out with the staff.
Nancy Enjoys Being Jimmy's 'Audience'
In March, Juvonen first stepped out to say she's her husband's best fan and critic. "I hate to say a pandemic is what got me on camera, but I much prefer behind-the-scenes," Juvonen admitted. (She has been the one helping Fallon film his evening segments, though Frances and Winnie often provide the graphics.) "And I think that everyone needs an audience, and there's some people that you meet who really like to entertain people. And I'm more the audience. But here I am, because you don't have anyone else to interview in our household."
Jimmy and Nancy Are Constantly With Their Kids
The pair adorably joked with one another about their daily routine, including how their daughters often climb into bed with them so that they all wake up together as a family. "They don't ever start out with us, but let's just say at five and six when they do crawl in at night with us, we're not kicking them out," Juvonen said. "And the dog—it's usually five of us!"
Juvonen added that Frances in particular enjoys sleeping on the pillow behind her husband's head.
Jimmy Fallon Is an Unexpected Romantic
Fallon then presented a viewer question posed to Jovenen, about whether or not she would consider the talk show host to be "romantic." With a laugh, Fallon read, "Please provide examples."
"I think you are!" Juvonen said, to which Fallon sweetly exclaimed, "You do? How cute!"
It didn't take long for Juvonen to think of a recent example: her 50th birthday party from a few years back. According to the producer, Fallon had surprised her with 20 of her all-time favorite albums on cassette tape—an eclectic mix that included Cat Powers, Prince, Bob Marley, Harry Neilson, and The Cure, among others—which was a gift in and of itself. Then Fallon mentioned that he'd forgotten the boom box out in the garage, tricking Juvonen to come around the side of the house to find her brother, driving a VW bus.
Juvonen revealed that she had learned to drive a VW bus back in high school, and had driven one all through college. "Which, if you know Mill Valley [where she was raised], and where I come from, very iconic," she added.
"More people stop us for that thing, they don't even care that it's me in the car," Fallon quipped. "They're like, 'I had one of those! I lived in that … bus, I took it all the way to California from New York.' People have really beautiful stories about that VW bus."
Juvonen agreed, "Those who it touches, it touches deeply."
Social Distancing Has Been Great for Their Marriage
Last week, Fallon opened up to the Today show about what it was like to film at home, saying that the experience has brought the family closer.
"Social distancing is one thing, but I think family distancing is about to be the next step," he joked, before admitting that he and Juvonen feel more affirmed their love now than ever before. "Me and my wife were talking, we were like, 'We actually like each other! We chose well!'"
