Bachelorette Tayshia Adams and Zac Clark have ended their engagement. A rep for the couple said the two "are no longer a couple," according to People.

Adams first made her mark on the franchise as a contestant on Colton Underwood's season of The Bachelor, which aired in 2019. A former medical technician who hails from Santa Ana, California, Adams then made headlines again when she was tapped to helm the franchise in late 2020. (Adams unexpectedly stepped into the leading role when Clare Crawley abruptly left the show halfway through filming. With that, Crawley got engaged to her first impression rose recipient, Dale Moss.)

As one of three Black leads for the franchise, Adams initially followed the lead of Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay, who married her finalist Bryan Abasolo in 2018. Lindsay memorably opened up to Entertainment Tonight about the news of Adams' casting back in 2020. "When I stepped in as Bachelorette, I wanted to pave a way for more diversity, for more people who look like me, and who didn't look like the typical lead," she said. "So to see another Bachelorette of color, I'm thrilled."

In spring 2020, Adams made her debut as a co-host for the next season of The Bachelorette alongside Kaitlyn Bristowe. The decision was crystallized after longtime host Chris Harrison made ill-received comments defending a contestant who stood accused of participatory racism.

Throughout their relationship, both Clark and Adams have repeatedly fielded questions about their engagement status. Adams even addressed split speculation in spring 2021 via Instagram Stories when viewers speculated why she was no longer spotted with her engagement ring. "Don't feel like I need to explain this [but] my ring hasn't been properly sized yet and needed to be cleaned too," she noted. "It's currently with Mr. @neillanecouture. I love that there's so much love and support around our relationship but please don't put unnecessary rumors/pressure on us."

Later on her podcast Click Bait, Adams also speculated about her potential wedding timeline. "We'll probably get married in like a year or so. Give us a year," she said. "Not 2021. Maybe 2022."
