Mowbray Chapel is a beautiful, historic wedding venue located in Chestertown, MD. A former church first built in the 1860s, you’re sure to fall in love with this unique venue. Mowbray Chapel began its life as Walton Chapel, a Greek Revival-style brick building. After being destroyed by fire, it was rebuilt in 1890 and renamed Mowbray Chapel. In 2017, the building was purchased by Patricia Kirby and Peter Thornton, who transformed it into the elegant venue it is today. Its beautiful brick walls, light and dark woodwork, and abundance of natural light make it a stunning event space. Set on 3.2 acres of picturesque countryside surrounded by woods and fields, the property also boasts plenty of opportunities for photos. Holding up to 55 guests, Mowbray Chapel is ideal for smaller weddings and elopements. It can host ceremonies, receptions, rehearsals, and showers. The space features a full kitchen and an open floor plan. The team can provide a list of recommended local vendors to help you plan your event, and offer a walkthrough of the venue along with your vendors prior to the big day. The space features free WiFi, Roku TV, and air conditioning, and is fully wheelchair accessible. There’s even a walking trail through its scenic surroundings for your guests to enjoy. Although it’s located in the peaceful countryside, Chestertown is only a 15-minute drive away.
