The moment you've been waiting for is finally here—it's time to start wedding dress shopping! You know your dress budget, your favorite designers and who you want to bring shopping with you. The only dilemma: where to book your first appointment. Fortunately, stellar San Francisco bridal shops are in no short supply. While The Knot Vendor Marketplace is a great place to start making a list of local bridal salons to check out, we've also curated a selection of some of the city's most highly-rated shops just for you below. This list has a little something for everyone, including wedding dress shops in San Francisco with consignment gowns, plus-size dresses, boho-chic styles and more.

Emerald City Gowns

Emerald City Gowns is a bridal boutique with heart. The appointment-only Berkely shop offers indie made-to-order gowns sewn in the US by tailors paid living wages as well as consignment pieces that brides can take home the same day. The goal: to help brides find the perfect dress with a positive environmental and social impact. The right price matters too, so made-to-order gowns go for $850 to $3,500 while off-the-rack dresses start at $500. The boutique also sells both new and consigned veils and accessories.

Review Spotlight: "Beautiful selection of gowns—both new/made to order and consignment (but flawless). Really lovely customer service and gowns to fit a range of budgets. I don't always love trying on clothing, but the dresses that we chose for me to try on were perfect!" - Amaya A., The Knot Vendor Marketplace

Lace & Liberty

One thing you can count on at Lace & Liberty: The wedding dress you choose will be made just for you. At this San Francisco bridal shop, it's all about personalization and options galore. Try on some of the brand's 200 samples at the boutique and then customize your favorite, altering anything from fabric color to train length. Alternatively, the shop's designers can also work with you to dream up an entirely one-of-a-kind wedding dress. With this level of service, you're guaranteed to feel like the star of the show.

Review Spotlight: "I worked with Lace & Liberty to design my wedding dress for my spring 2024 wedding. I enjoyed the process of trying on their gowns and then combining elements I liked from multiple dresses to make something unique and that checked all my boxes. They delivered my finished dress much more quickly than expected and overall I was happy with my wedding look." - Caroline A., The Knot Vendor Marketplace

BridalBreeze

The mission at BridalBreeze? Bringing European bridal style to San Francisco. Marina, the shop's owner, is originally from Ukraine and working with both renowned and lesser-known European designers is her passion. In fact, the shop is known for being the first place in San Francisco where any new collection from the Spanish brand Pronovias lands. Expect made-to-order gowns that range in price from $1,800 to $6,000 with off-the-rack samples also available at a discounted price. Shop for your dress with up to five guests during a private 90-minute appointment.

Review Spotlight: "I had a great experience at BridalBreeze. I had tried on dresses at another popular Bay Area bridal store, which was not bad at all, but this place was a little more intimate and less hectic. Marina and her staff were patient, non-judgemental and informative about the timing of the dress-buying process and how to factor in alterations afterward. They also gave me honest feedback about some of the other dresses that I liked but wasn't sure about. I truly appreciated this since I had no idea how long that was supposed to take. I have the most beautiful Pronovias dress that I cannot wait to wear. I would wholeheartedly recommend this shop to other future brides looking for their perfect dress." - Katherine P., The Knot Vendor Marketplace

Winnie Couture Flagship Salon

Los Angeles-based, Hong Kong-born designer Winnie Lee started the Winnie Couture bridal label in 2001 and now operates several locations across the country including a San Francisco bridal shop in the Cow Hollow District. At the high-glam appointment-only boutique brides work with a stylist to find "the one" within the Winnie Couture collection, which is full of feminine gowns embellished with European lace and Swarovski crystals. Dresses are handcrafted in Beverly Hills and the salon also partners with a neighborhood seamstress to work with you on alterations. The shop offers jewelry, veils and other accessories too, and you can expect your dress to retail between $4,500 and $6,500.

Review Spotlight: "I am so grateful to have stumbled upon Winnie Couture—it was truly the perfect bridal salon experience! My stylist was incredibly helpful, providing great customer service and suggesting different pieces, while still giving my party the freedom to explore. Additionally, they had the perfect dress selection for any body type, size, shape and style. After my second time trying on dresses, I said yes to the dress—and I couldn't be happier." - Missy M., The Knot Vendor Marketplace

Blue Sky Bridal

]If you want to save a little cash and be kind to the planet, check out Blue Sky Bridal. The Union Street bridal consignment shop in San Francisco, which also boasts locations in Portland and Seattle, carries off-the-rack gowns sourced from past brides as well as designer samples that are heavily discounted and can be taken home the same day. The average cost of a dress at Blue Sky Bridal ranges from $1,000 to $3,000 and sizes run up to 28. The appointment-only shop does one-hour appointments with up to three guests allowed, as well as 90-minute appointments where you get the full run of the store with up to five guests.

Review Spotlight: "I had a wonderful experience. I was able to book an appointment to have the store to myself and brought along two of my friends. I worked with the consultant Elayna to find the right sizes and styles that were within my budget. She also helped with choosing accessories. We had a great time taking photos and videos together to capture the moment. We didn't feel rushed at all. The store is well-decorated so the shots were beautiful. I was so pleased to walk away with my dream dress and veil and come out under budget. I would definitely recommend this place as a first stop for wedding dress shopping." - Jasmine L., The Knot Vendor Marketplace

J'aime Bridal

J'aime Bridal is dedicated to carrying the latest collections by the most sought-after designers within the mid-range price point (averaging $2,000). At the shop, expect high-quality, gorgeous gowns by Martina Liana, Stella York, Essence of Australia and more. J'aime Bridal also carries a large number of plus-size samples that can be ordered up to a size 36. The salon offers a variety of appointment types, too, including a 90-minute session in one of the store's larger bridal suites with a senior stylist.

Review Spotlight: "My entire experience with J'aime was perfect! They ended up being my first and only appointment for dress shopping. My consultant, Taylor, was attentive to my wants and also brought me dresses I might not have thought of. She was careful to let me know when one of my choices was over budget, and I never felt pressured to make a purchase. I did end up purchasing my dress at J'aime, and partly due to my great experience with my dress, I also returned for my veil and used their in-house seamstress, Janis. That was another great experience! Janis is so talented and professional, as well as friendly and accommodating. Because of going through J'aime for my dress, veil and fittings, I was there quite a few times! Each time I felt so welcomed, especially when the owner Jaime greeted me by name every time. I highly recommend any bride shopping for bridal attire to go to J'aime; I'm a little bummed to not be going there as frequently anymore!" - Kirsten L., The Knot Vendor Marketplace

Jinwang

If you've got your eye on a luxury bridal label, you're going to want to check out Jinwang in Clarendon Heights. The modern, sun-filled San Francisco bridal shop carries gowns from $4,000 to $25,000 by designers like Oscar de la Renta, Carolina Herrera, Giambattista Valli, Lela Rose and Liz Martinez, as well as fashion-forward MOB dresses and afterparty looks. Plus, after you've purchased your made-to-order gown during an hour-long appointment, you'll have at least two fittings with in-person guidance from Jin Wang herself.

Review Spotlight: "I am so grateful for my experience at Jinwang. I found the most beautiful dream gown among Jin Wang's incredible collection. The shop itself is a dream and I loved each and every appointment there. Jin is amazing and was lovely to work with—she was so caring and thoughtful throughout the process and she tailored my dress to perfection. I knew I was in such good hands and loved that all fittings and alterations were handled in-house. Jin played such a big part in making me feel so beautiful on my wedding day—thank you, Jin!" - Katherine R., The Knot Vendor Marketplace
