Romantic wedding dresses are one of the most popular styles for a reason. After all, your wedding day is all about celebrating romance.
But, what is a romantic wedding dress exactly? "A romantic wedding dress has an ethereal lightness based on the fabrics, lace and other embellishments used in its design. There is a flow and movement that makes the gown seem effortless to wear," says Denise Buzy-Pucheu, Owner of The Persnickety Bride in Newtown, Connecticut. As a result, they tend to photograph beautifully.
As Buzy-Pucheu explains, romantic wedding dresses are typically made of fabrics like tulle, organza, chiffon and are embellished with charming touches like delicate beading, sequins and 3D floral appliqué. She also points out, "in the past few years the addition of 'swag' shoulder drapes and detached balloon sleeves have become very popular for flowy romantic dresses."
When it comes to romantic silhouettes, "many consider A-line dresses or fuller ball gown styles with longer trains to be the standard, due to their volume," says Buzy-Pucheu. Although, she says fit and flare dresses made of tulle and gowns with intricate lace trains are also becoming very popular.

Lastly, another reason romantic wedding dresses are so popular is because they are incredibly versatile and work in nearly every setting. As Buzy-Pucheu points out, "today's couples are creating their wedding vision in so many types of interesting venues (barns, ocean and lake venues and tented weddings in fields). Having all of these unique ceremonies and venue options, a bride can create a vision of romance and drama with her dress."
