Anyone who's suffered from any form of acne—but especially body acne—knows it can be absolutely debilitating to your confidence—and not to mention, embarrassing. And we don't blame you if you haven't been able to successfully get rid of yours leading up to your wedding day. It's difficult, and you definitely aren't alone.

That's why we're happy to inform you that if you're a to-be-wed, you don't have to stress about your body acne flaring up before your wedding day, because it's totally easy to cover up flawlessly—so you can strut your stuff in whatever backless gown you want. Read the below to figure out how it's done.

1. Communicate with your makeup artist in advance.

A good makeup artist isn't necessarily required, but you'll definitely be glad you hired a pro to bring in the big guns, so to speak. Make sure to communicate in advance that you have body acne you'd like covered up so they can bring the appropriate tools and makeup. (Psst—if you haven't found a makeup artist yet, you can find the perfect one here.)

2. Start by prepping your skin.

It all starts with clean skin. It's essential to wash your body diligently before applying makeup just like you would with your face. You can use your favorite gentle body wash, or a salicylic acid one if you already know you react well to it.

3. Pick the right foundation.

Again, if you're using a makeup artist, they'll know what to do, but it'll still be helpful to familiarize yourself with a full-coverage foundation that matches your skin tone (and remember—the shade you use for your face won't necessarily work for your chest and back). Dermablend and Make Up For Ever have amazing options that are waterproof, matte and long-lasting. Makeup artists typically use airbrush tools for wedding makeup, and you can even ask them to use your favorite kind that you know you don't sweat off. (Prior to your wedding, you can take it for a trial run one day—literally or figuratively—to make sure it passes the test.)

4. Concealer is key.

Foundation is, well, the foundation of the look—but concealer will help perfect it. There are tons of long-lasting options for every skin tone out there, and you can even carry your favorite around in your clutch or give to your maid of honor for touch-ups. (Odds are, you won't need any, but just in case.)

5. Set it with powder.

A great setting powder will be the finishing touch to guarantee the makeup on your body lasts the entire day—even if you're having an outdoor ceremony in July, or planning on dancing the night away with your partner. Your makeup artist (or yourself, or your maid of honor) can simply dab it on the affected area with a large brush, and you'll be good to go in that gorgeous backless gown all night long.
