Fresh off their European tour as newlyweds, Hannah Ann and Jake Funk traveled to Miami, Florida, to celebrate their marriage with their nearest and dearest. Looking back now, they don't regret breaking up their wedding into two parts. "We are so thankful we were able to keep wedding planning easy on us and elope," Sluss tells The Knot. "It allowed us to feel stress-free and focus on preparing ourselves for the biggest commitment we will ever make in our lives: marriage!"

When it came to their reception, Sluss handed the reigns to her planning team to help bring her "Miami chic" vision to life. "I'm not a planner, so I passed off all design responsibilities to Petal Productions," she explains. The weekend kicked off on July 12 with a sunset cruise on the water, followed by a pool party the next day. Then, the couple and their guests made their way to a swanky rooftop offering panoramic views of the Miami skyline for the main event.

Decorated with leafy tropical palms, suspended white florals and hanging tea light candles, the sleek reception space featured pops of pink and green to capture Miami's colorful aesthetic. The bride wore a glittering mini dress from Jaxon James Couture Bridal, which she chose because it matched her engagement ring. "I'm not a fashion expert, so I went with a dress that made me feel comfortable and beautiful," Sluss explains, adding, "And I wore sneakers so I could dance the night away!"

Surrounded by their closest friends, including Bachelor pals Tayshia Adams, Amanda Stanton, Andi Dorfman and Victoria Fuller, the newlyweds sliced into a two-tier wedding cake draped in a tropical garland of white flowers and leafy greens. Funk also had the honor of pouring an espresso martini tower—a clear highlight of the evening.

Now that their celebrations have come to an end, the pair encourages other to-be-weds to toss tradition during the wedding planning process. "Weddings don't have to be traditional, so you should make the experience exactly what you want it to be," Sluss suggests. "Breaking up [our wedding] into two events allowed us to enjoy every aspect of the big day."

Jake Funk and Hannah Ann's Wedding Details

When we caught up with Hannah Ann Sluss ahead of her wedding, she admitted that she and Funk didn't start dreaming up their big day immediately after their engagement in 2023. "We waited about six months," the reality star-turned-content creator told The Knot. "I was in the process of buying my first house, which was my priority. With weddings, once you start [planning], you really have to prioritize it and all the expenses that come with it."

Plus, given Funk's hectic schedule in the NFL, which led them to move around the country quite a few times, they weren't in a rush to begin. "It wasn't like we put a timeline on ourselves," Sluss added. "We started when we felt the most settled."

The Aesthetic Was "Timeless and Fresh"

When asked to describe her wedding aesthetic in a few words, Sluss called it "timeless and fresh." "There are some pretty big aspects of our wedding that have been simplified," she explained, "but there are other aspects that I'm hoping look really well done."

Throughout the process, the couple was open to tossing tradition in favor of creating a celebration that felt authentic to their love story. For them, that meant eloping on a Wednesday with no one else in attendance (aside from their photographer, Janna Brown). "With weddings, you don't have to do the traditions, or what your family or friends have done," she said. "A wedding is all about your commitment to one another, but also letting it fit into your life. Our lives are very different, and we wanted our wedding to be able to easily fit into that."

This leads into the top piece of wedding planning advice Sluss learned throughout her experience, which she urges other to-be-weds to consider. "Listen to one another," she suggested. "Don't allow the wedding planning to distract you from the true point of what's going on: preparing your lives to be married. It's such a huge commitment and truly one of the biggest decisions you'll ever make in your life. Focus on that and make sure you're preparing your hearts and your lives for marriage, not so much the event."

The Event Was "Simplified"

Although Sluss admitted to having high standards for her wedding, she and her husband made a conscious effort to create a stress-free experience. "It was just about enjoying the process and not taking on too much responsibility," she shared. "Our lives are already pretty hectic enough!"

She Leaned On Her Vendors

To ease the responsibilities of planning a wedding, the couple was intentional about hiring vendors they could trust to bring their vision to life. Though they opted to forgo a planner, they did enlist the help of a day-of coordinator to make sure "everything was packaged up" when the day arrived.

One of the pros the bride was most excited about was her photographer, Janna Brown. "Photography is something I really prioritized and that I feel like is the most fun," Sluss said. "She was my top priority, and honestly I kind of rearranged everything around her. She gets the vision I'm wanting."

She also anticipated the debut of her wedding dress: a strapless fitted column gown with a bustier-style bodice, which she sourced from The Wedding Studio in Indiana. "I found them because they were on HGTV," she said with a smile. "They made the process much more simplified for me. They truly went with what I wanted to do and what I felt comfortable in."

She Used Her Wedding to Give Back

One of the key ways Sluss revamped tradition was by using her wedding to give back. "For one of my bridal showers, my friend suggested doing a registry. Instead, I thought I'd rather add more meaning to this gathering," she explains, sharing that she invited her guests to donate to Susan G. Komen in honor of breast cancer research and awareness. "[It's] an amazing organization that supports other women, and giving back adds more purpose and meaning to getting together."

She admitted that she wasn't exactly interested at first. But she gave him a chance and was pleasantly surprised by the whole interaction. "What really stood out to me about him was he was the only guy that I have ever gone on a date with that didn't ask me about the show. We were able to keep things private and really get to know each other."

Sluss also mentioned that Funk told her he loved her just two weeks after they started dating. "We love a guy that isn't afraid to share his emotions," she added. In an interview with People, Funk said, "I really just wanted to get to know her as a person. I'm not trying to date you because you're on TV. I want to date Hannah, the girl from Knoxville, Tennessee. This girl is everything I ever wanted. Our future is not our past."
