"Opting for a sleek, sexy slip dress allows you to be the focal point, rather than the dress itself." Maragos loves slip dresses for casual backyard weddings or outdoor venues—"a vineyard in Tuscany!" she imagines—but they're not just for the big day. "A slip dress would be a fun rehearsal dinner look or second bridal look, especially if the bride opts for a more detailed or embellished first gown," she says.

What to Wear Under a Slip Wedding Dress
So, you've found the slip dress of your wedding dreams. But your search isn't over—now, you have to figure out what to wear under a slip dress. Whereas fitted ballgowns and sleeved dresses are forgiving when it comes to undergarments and shapewear showing through, slip dresses are a little more delicate and leave less to the imagination. Gabbi Maragos advises brides to own it. "I am a believer in 'less is more,' especially when it comes to undergarments with a slip dress," she says. "The nature of this style of dress is an undergarment that is meant to be seen."
Of course, many brides are more comfortable with a bit of shapewear. In that case, look for something with long lines, such as a strapless slip shaper (some even extend below the knee), so as not to break up your middle with lines showing through. Seamless underwear is also key. Look for ones made in silky smooth materials that won't show a panty line through the often thin material of a slip dress; some Reddit users suggest the Commando classic thong.
"Often, slip dresses have thin straps or low backs, making a bra challenging to wear and offering little support," Maragos adds. "Comfort is key, and this varies for each individual; I would opt for nude adhesive nippies if possible; my favorites are by Bristols 6."
Once you've figured out the underneath, get ready for the really fun part: styling. Maragos offers a starting point: "You could style a slip dress with a cape or gloves to add a fun accessory and hint of drama."
